Hi all,

Sorry for the issues. We believe we've found the issue and are working on fixing. Hopefully a matter of minutes.

May have spoken too quickly on matter of minutes. The fix did have some improvement, but many players may still be having challenges getting into games. Partial fix, but still investigating knock-on impacts that are continuing to cause issues for players.

Hi all,

Sorry for the issues. We believe we've found the issue and are working on fixing. Hopefully a matter of minutes.

VALORANT is currently CPU limited for high end machines. This basically means that if you've got a pretty modern GPU and you're playing at 1080p (say, a 1050 or better), then you're most likely going to be limited by your CPU.

We're working on optimizing it further :-)

I just upgraded my i7 6600k to a ryzen 7 3800x and i diddnt got any improvements in term of FPS. (I upgraded because i wasnt able to get 240+ fps steady for my 240 hz display, most of the time I was able to but sometimes i wasnt and I experienced tearing.)

Overall its maybe a little more stable with the FPS but for example on the map "Bind" its horribly dropping towards the 160 mark! To make a little comparison: In CSGO my FPS increased by around 160 and I get 350-400 FPS Stable in 5v5's! (capped!)

In the final analysis I can tell that the upgrade that I mainly did for Valorant wasn't an upgrade at all and the devs need to fix the issues with AMD Ryzen CPU's.

Anybody knows if they already aware of this issue and working on a potential fix?

Edit: My CPU has no work to do in terms of CPU usage and my graphic card wouldnt enter max clock if I dont force it (makes no difference because the game just doesnt need more GPU/CPU Power, it seems to be a bug with some mapassets + its worse on amd then on intel)

Btw a friend with a gtx 2080 and i9 9900k experiencing the same FPS drops on the map "Bind".

Would be great if a Valorant developer answering about this topic.

I've already answered a few times in this thread and many others. We're actively looking into AMD optimizations, we know that it's slower than Intel.

u/Koalifier Can we get any info on why is this happening? Everything was fine until the last patch came and even my friends with high spec computers are having massive fps drops and as I said in the reply the fps is 20-30% lower.

We're looking into it :-)

Sometimes we're going to have performance drops when patches come out, but we're committed to investigating and resolving these issues.

bkyan123

r u guys planning on implementing more optimizations for lower spec intel hd graphics or is that not a priority rn?

It's a bit unrelated to this post but yeah. I don't think average FPS will get much better on that hardware but we are aware that certain character abilities or effects drop the FPS below our acceptable bar on that hardware. We're working through those specific optimizations each patch.

If I'm honest this is one of the places where covid-19 has delayed us the most. We don't have hardware labs in our homes unfortunately (and even if we did, we don't have the space to support them). Testing hasn't stopped here. It's just significantly longer turnaround time.

Neat. My power went out and now I have to go through this list again. u/RiotArkem is there an ETA on this? It's getting pretty tiresome to have to jump through these hoops to play the game =\

We're going to add better ways to control when Vanguard is running on your computer hopefully and we're also trying to be more transparent about what specific components Vanguard disagrees with to make it easier to troubleshoot.

No firm ETA but we're aiming for sometime before the next VALORANT patch.

anything new? i am worried about my gpu when its under load(gpu fans and heat)

You should be able to run the latest versions of the software I mentioned above, I mention them just because an old version came with a driver that has a privilege escalation vulnerability. The latest versions have discontinued that driver.

We don't specifically have anything against fan management drivers (or any other type of drivers) so hopefully the latest drivers for your GPU and motherboard should work fine with Vanguard.

i fixed asmtufdriver.sys issue by going to asus driver tools website (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PRO/HelpDesk_Download/) then selecting windows 8.1 64 bit as my OS, despite my OS being windows 10 64 bit. Then going to USB drivers, downloading "ASMedia_U3_FW_update" and running it

Great! Hopefully more people this. These drivers are only being disabled because they're unsigned and spurned by Secure Boot versions of Windows (yes, including VirtualBox to the downvote brigade, new versions do not have this issue), we're not stopping safe software!

We're still working on compatibility fixes, but it's great to hear that updates can fix a lot of these issues.

Just want to hop in to say hi we see you!

BIG CAVEAT: We don't have all our analytics around client perf data set up perfectly yet.

That being said I can see the frametime dipped about 1ms (or about 10%) on average after the update. There could be many explanations for this, the simplest being we've made a mistake in one of the changes we made in the update. We're going to investigate all angles and figure this out as quickly as possible.

Based on the reports we're seeing and our own experiences internally we believe it could affect different users to different degrees so everyone's experience might not be the same. Try to be empathetic to other players whose experiences may legitimately not be the same as your own!

One interesting thing we're seeing in the data is that it seemingly affects all parts of the game simultaneously (CPU-side). This narrows down our suspects considerably but none are clearly smoking guns at this time.

Are the lag spikes on my end or yours?

We're still actively in the process of getting more server capacity online and getting servers into more locations. If you want to troubleshoot your connection, I'd suggest downloading winmtr and running some tests to look for packet loss in your connection by querying a few common websites such as google.

TL;DR: I don't know, it depends

Makes sense. Hopefully you guys find the answer soon, it seems like it's a bitch for devs to get ryzen working fully.

Any ETA on it? Or it's just something that will be fixed as you guys experiment more?

It will take some time. It's not an easy fix.

Hello, this was due to an issue that occurred on the 7th (note how the large file is called 2020-04-07). We pushed out a fix to the issue on the same day. The file will eventually get cleaned up but there is no harm in deleting it now and freeing up the disk space.

I have posted more details about the issue on other threads: https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/fxid1k/valorant_log_files_taking_up_disk_space_check/fn4er3l?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

- **Type of Bug:** Perfomance Issues
- **Description:** Fps drops since update from 144 to 40!
- **Video / Screenshot:**
- **Steps to reproduce:** Updated new driver, checked if something is running in the background= everything was the same

Can you tell me if you're still getting those drops? I'm curious how your FPS is in three scenarios:
1. Just patched and launched the game
2. Closed the game completely, then launched again
3. Restart PC after updating (and having launched previuosly), then launch the game

- **Region:** NA

- **Type of Bug:** Gun mechanics

- **Description:** The bucky right click up close only hits for one pellet. At some range (perhaps > 5m), it spreads to 15 pellets.

- **Video / Screenshot:** None

- **Steps to reproduce:** Go to the firing range and choose 5m. right click the bucky at the blue dummy's chest and note that hits for 20 (1). Choose 10m, right click the bucky at the blue dummy's chest, and note that it hits for (15) pellets.

- **Expected result:** Right click < 5m should hit for all 15 pellets.

- **Observed result:** Right click < 5m only hits for 1 pellet.

- **Reproduction rate:** 100%

- **System specs:** Not relevant

As /u/RocketHops mentioned, this is working as intended. If you fire it at too close a range, it will only deal 20 damage from the slug, because it hasn't yet reached a far enough distance to burst.

How come I can’t save any clips through my GeForce experience? Is it bugged? Just got the game

The clips should still work, it just doesn't show you the overlay. There's a bug in the latest shadowplay update.

Even before this patch, I haven’t been able to figure out what is up with FPS in this game. I have an RTX 2070 Super and I am typically in the 150-200 range. It should be higher and reducing graphics settings has zero impact.
