hypnomancy

Been hearing about a lot of people having similar problems. It's absurd.

As in people having this exact same problem where they see a lot of processes running called RiotClientServices.exe and RiotClientCrashHandler.exe? If so please tell them to contact me so I can get their logs and investigate. If I don't respond, please also tell them to contact player support since they will collect logs from them and then forward them to our department. I haven't seen any other reports besides this thread. Any help is appreciated.

I have reached out to you for your logs. I haven't seen this one before, any help you can provide us triaging this issue would be greatly appreciated.

And its called Vanguard

On first glance, this seems like it could be a bug with our login screen.

Windows is now rightfully seeing Valorant/Vanguard as malware

This error does not necessarily imply software is malware, I believe it is related to executable signing. You can run into this warning when a company renews their code signing certificate for example. In our case I don't believe we have renewed the certificate recently (if I remember correctly I renewed it at the beginning of this year) so my theory is that it is potentially related to some corruption (for example some parts of the executable being missing) that occurs when you download the installer from one of the companies we use for CDN purposes. The corruption could potentially cause the signature to not look right and this warning to pop up? Also the publisher says unknown and not Riot Games like I would expect which also reinforces that theory.

Another thing that may further reinforce that theory is that the thread starter said that they are never able to get past the error which to me means that they clicked run away and due to the corruption it crashes. If this is caused ...

This could be related to some installer corruption we have been seeing on and off over the past week or so. If you redownload the installer from the website and try again does it work? What region are you playing from (BR, KR, LATAM, NA, EU)?

AtTheGates

Just disable UAC or set it to lowest.

I don't believe this has to do with UAC. I believe this warning is typically related to executable signing.

I think this typically means your account's country/region is set to one that is not supported by VALORANT. You can check your account's country here: https://account.riotgames.com/account. If the value is incorrect, you can reach out to player support to have them change it. It will likely take a few days since player support is receiving a very large volume of requests.

Note: Currently North America, Europe, South America, and Korea are supported.

ShiningShogunX

Not the person you're asking, but yes it still doesn't work.

Thank you for replying, what region are you in (EU, NA, BR, LATAM, KR) ? We have different installers per region. Trying to determine if the issue is with one of the specific regional installers.

Restarting the game? Because I restarted manytime and I get same thing.

Restarting your computer.

Hello I have raised this issue to the appropriate team. In the meantime I have heard that restarting fixes the issue.

Hi, sorry you ran into this. If you redownload the installer from the website and run it, does the issue still occur?

Are you able to go into more detail? Maybe link an artical? I can only find information relating to the login tokens i mistook it for.

I don't believe there are any details or articles since it isn't something we expect players to interact with or have to know about in order to play the game. It is an internal implementation detail.

lysianth

Auth token is what your game sends to verify your login. Probably unique per session, but its not something i would share in a picture.

That is not what the remoting auth token does. I think it is fine to share in a picture. The token is unique per launch of the game. It is only used for internal communication between processes within the computer.

It is installed on your computer when you install any Riot game (default install location: C:\Riot Games\Riot Client).

The window will show under a few circumstances. For example if you are not logged in or if there is a new patch for the game you are trying to launch or any of its dependencies. A window is opened in order to display progress for the new patch it is downloading.

Are you running into an issues or are you just trying to understand why it sometimes doesn't open a window?

Hello, this was due to an issue that occurred on the 7th (note how the large file is called 2020-04-07). We pushed out a fix to the issue on the same day. The file will eventually get cleaned up but there is no harm in deleting it now and freeing up the disk space.

I have posted more details about the issue on other threads: https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/fxid1k/valorant_log_files_taking_up_disk_space_check/fn4er3l?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

I believe that is one of the screens that is displayed when you fail to install the login screen.

I would recommend reaching out to Riot Games player support, they may know the answer. If they do not know the answer they will collect information that will help engineers troubleshoot such as the logs for the login screen and where you are playing from.

Have you ever tried installing League of Legends or Legends of Runeterra? Do you run into the same error (I would assume yes)?

I would double check that there is no process called RiotClientServices.exe running. If there is none, then I would try restarting.

If restarting doesn't work, I would recommend reaching out to player support.

As some folks have already noticed, running the installer only installs the login screen unless you actually have access to the closed beta. If you don't have access, it doesn't do anything if you already have League of Legends or Legends of Runeterra installed.

Tried restarting the computer multiple times. Granted, I'm using a virtual machine to play, so there might be errors popping up due to that.

I believe it is related to the virtual machine. I believe Riot's anticheat has virtual machine detection and doesn't allow them.
