Fortnite: Battle Royale Dev Tracker

Hey folks,
We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Account Merge feature will be coming to an end on May 6, two days before Season 9 begins.

You still have time to head over to the link above and merge any eligible accounts before it's gone.
Note: Any "In Progress" Account Merge requests will still be completed as long as they're submitted prior to May 6.
There are several key principles that drive Fortnite development. First, we aim to provide a fun game that’s inclusive of all players, and provides everyone with a real chance of winning through any combination of skill, strategy, and good fortune. Second, we aim to evolve the game rapidly to keep the experience fresh. Finally, we aim to provide great entertainment.
Fortnite competitive play relies on a unique balancing act: maintaining a solid and balanced experience for competitive players, while being essentially the same Fortnite played by hundreds of millions of players. After all, those players are the audience for Fortnite competition, and their engagement is key to the growing opportunities for competitive players.
This creates special challenges for addressing the needs of different groups of players. We closely follow the dialog in the Fortnite competitive community, but haven’t been as active participants in the discussion as we ought to be. So, we’ll be trying harder to par... Read more

Hey everyone!

As mentioned in our most recent [Save the World roadmap], we’ll be making some adjustments to the top end of Twine Peaks in v8.50. We’ve been keeping an eye on the discussions regarding the lack of more difficult content and agree that it’s time to make some changes.

We’ll be adding five new levels of difficulty to the top end of Twine Peaks to give higher level players a bit more of a challenge. These missions will have a maximum base power level of 128 and will scale up with 4x missions and Mission Alerts, just like missions do now. Our goal with this change is to start introducing harder content into Save the World while also preparing you for the battles yet to come.

With harder difficulty comes better loot! In general, players will find that these new missions will favor tier-5 materials, such as Sunbeam and Brightcore,  more and more as they progress deeper into Twine. Players who are strong enough to take on these mission will also find themselves earni...

Battle Royale
Fixed the following issues:

  • Nameplate and ally indicators were missing from the UI in the Deep Fried Food Fight LTM.

Hey everyone,
We recently held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on our Fortnite Creative subreddit. Read below to see all of the info that was shared! If you want to go directly to the original page click here.
Devs for the AMA
  • ZooKeeperZak - Creative Development Director
  • avgulotta - Producer
  • DarkVeil - Programming Lead
Let’s get to the questions!
Q: Will you ever add rift teleporters like the ones that were in wailing?
A: Yes! Timing is tbd as our list tends to change based on many factors. The more creators like yourselves are excited about a new feature the more likely it is we'll do it sooner.
Q: Will there ever be the ability to change your locker during a Creative match?
A: We really want this feature! The reason it's a bit tricky is because the Locker interface needs some work before we'll be able to summon it in the middle of a Creative session. This is mainly for performance and memory reasons, but also because of how the game's menu system was originally designed. We're ponderin... Read more

Hey Fortnite community,
In the v8.10 update we have a few new styles coming to older outfits, in line with some ongoing Art update work we are doing. When we create outfits for you to suit up in before dropping from the Battle Bus, we’re invested in improving them over time based on your feedback. We’ve seen you being vocal about wanting to see the face behind the masks of some of our helmeted outfits, so we’ve done a pass on previous outfits.
You’ll see an updated style for the following outfits with the new update:
  • Scarlet Defender
  • Elite Agent
  • Renegade Raider
  • Waypoint
  • Overtaker
  • Whiteout

One of the coolest things about making art for Fortnite is that the game is regularly being updated and that we have the opportunity to work on things we want to polish.  As we continue to develop the art of Fortnite, we’ve added new technology for creating cosmetics which enable us to add variety and customizations to existing outfits as well!
Another bit of exciting polish coming online is... Read more

Before we dive into more specific questions, we wanted to cover some topics that came up many times in the initial AMA announce:

Performance/Console issues

We’ve not been super great on communication here, so we do want to confirm we’re aware of the console and performance issues and consider them very high priority. Late last year, we did a big push to improve client game thread performance and eliminate hitches due to loading assets during play. Once so... Read more
Hey Fortnite Friends,
We mentioned in our last State of Development that we have a new Hero System in the works. We’re excited to announce that these Hero System changes will be in the v8.00 update!

More Heroes, More Combos

The current Hero Squad utilizes three slots: Hero, Support, and Tactical. The new Hero Loadout is made up of seven components: one Commander, five Support Team members, and one Team Perk. Heroes also no longer have a full set of static perks which define their gameplay. Instead, they’re focused on a specific perk, and you can mix-and-match perks to best fit your playstyle. The Hero Loadout gives you the tools to play YOUR way. Let’s break it down!
  Image1.jpg

Commander

The Commander is the hero you’ll play as during the mission. This hero will determine your abilities, Class Perks (more on those later!), and Commander Perk. The Commander Perk unlocks when a hero is evolved to 2-stars and it's a serious upgrade to the standard perk. Your Commander plays an important role... Read more
