Heya folks, It’s been a while since we’ve talked about stats so let's dive right in. In the v7.40 update, we’ll be turning on Stats v2. What does that mean? The current stats system database couldn’t scale properly for all platforms so we’re going to upgrade the existing one to include a variety of info and track player progress better over time. Here are a couple of new things arriving with the update to stats:

• The ability to track all of your play in one place and view it across all platforms.
  • All of your previously earned stats will be added in and displayed in-game.
    • There may be a few minor edge cases where a small amount of data could be missing.
• All LTM stats are combined and tracked in a singular tab. This means that any previous LTM stats you’ve earned will be moved out of the Solo/Duo/Squad tab and into the LTM tab.
  • The exception to this would be Large Team Mode LTMs. We don’t track stats in those game modes.

Did you complete your 10 weekly Challenges and are looking for more? We have you covered! Starting with the v7.40 release, all players will have access to new, additional Overtime Challenges. Complete these Challenges by the end of the Season to unlock 5 new rewards including the Valentine Wrap and Vines Contrail.

And for Battle Pass owners, the Overtime Challenge rewards will include new unlockable styles for the Trog, Powder, and Onesie outfits.

Hey Fortnite Creators, On Wednesday we announced that we’re looking for Islands that use new Challenge Gallery Coins. When crafting games you are now able to place coins around your islands. Starting in the 7.40 patch we will feature games that have coins used in interesting ways. A Season 7 Week 11 Battle Royale challenge will use the coins as part of the challenge, exposing your featured map to lots of players. So here’s what we’re looking for:

1. Place 10 coins throughout your game. Spread your coins out based on difficulty, creating a range of difficulty for coin collection.
2. Collecting them all should be challenging!
3. We’ll be looking at all types of games. You can make Free For Alls, Mazes, Last One Standing, or invent something completely new. The uniqueness and fun of your island will be considered when we select the games to feature.

One of our goals is to build more devices and options that will empower you to create games on your island. Recent examples are Elimination Zones, Sentry, and Last One Standing settings, which were released in the 7.20 update.

Speed vs. Perfection

We’re focused on delivering a breadth of tools to creators in these first few months, trading off polish and perfection for speed so you can create without limits. The Prefab system is an example of this, which could have been a full content browser of pieces if we had a bit more time. Heya folks, A while back we ran a test for glider re-deploy. There was a very split response on the mechanic which revealed some positives as well as some negatives. We removed the mechanic from default modes, but feel an alternative implementation will help in solving some of those negatives and better suits our goals. The goal with the item is to provide mobility and utility, but in a form that can be balanced and iterated upon. By implementing glider redeploy as an item we can iterate on multiple different levels (i.e. redeploy height, movement speed, drop chance, charge count), including inventory slot tension. Quick overview on how Glider Redeploy will work in v7.20:

• The Gliders item will take up an inventory slot and can be found from normal loot sources.
• Activate Glider Redeploy as you normally would, you do not need to select the item.
  • Each deploy will remove one charge, when all charges are used the item disappears.

We communicated an incorrect end date for the 14 Days of Fortnite event and did not feel the Equalizer Glider compensation was the right approach. After further discussion, we’ve decided to bring back this event early next week through January 15 at 3 AM ET(0800 UTC). We’ll also be enabling some of the most popular Limited Time Modes that were available during the event.

Players who were unable to complete those Challenges will be able to earn all of the rewards they may have initially missed out on. All Challenges will be available to complete for the entire duration of the event. Unfortunately, progress on partially completed challenges has to be reset. It’s time to kickoff a #FortniteBlockParty! The most exciting and imaginative islands built in Creative will be featured on the “The Block” in the Battle Royale map. Can you create something that will inspire the world? Will you become Fortnite Famous?

To kick things off, we’re going to provide a few guidelines to make the submission process smooth. Here’s what we’re looking for:

• 25x25 tile area on a flat section of your island. It’s very important that your creations can fit nicely on The Block.
• Originality matters. Create something new, don’t copy other people’s ideas.
• Try to keep your ‘Memory Used’ less than 50,000.  Efficiency is just as important as creativity!
• There’s no height requirement, but please try to scale your creations to be a similar to other POIs in the Battle Royale map.
• You can use any component available.
• Chests, floor loot and vehicle spawns will be determined by Epic. No need to include these.

What’s Fortnite Creative?

It’s a brand new way to experience the world of Fortnite, available on December 6. Design games, race around the island, battle your friends in new ways and build your dream Fortnite. It’s all happening on your own private island where everything you make is saved.

Battle Pass owners will have access to a private island for the first week of Season 7. During this early access week Battle Pass owners can invite their friends to play on their island. Starting December 13, all players will have access to a private island for free. Watch the video below for all the details.

Hey Folks, We recently added a 60 FPS option on compatible iOS devices!  (iPad Pro will follow with the next patch)

We’ve gone through extensive tests to make sure the game can maintain such high frame-rates for a number of matches without overheating or deteriorating the overall experience over the course of a match. High frame rates are great, but if it’s only for a few minutes it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
NOTE: Playing at 60 FPS will drain your battery more quickly, so for now, the default setting remains 30 FPS and you’ll need to enable 60 FPS in the settings menu. However, we know our Android players are curious about whether they’ll see the same improvements. While we don’t currently have a timeline, the team is working on Android optimizations together with phone manufacturers, that will hopefully allow us to support 60 FPS on certain high-end Android devices. In our previous blog about Account Linking we stated: “In November, we’re going to release an “account merging” system so you can combine multiple console-linked accounts to transfer Battle Royale cosmetic item purchases, lifetime wins, V-Bucks, and Save the World campaign access.” Due to some ongoing technical concerns, we will be delaying the Account Merge feature until early next year.
