Rimworld Dev Tracker

Hey everyone, just a quick note about the Steam Deck release and RimWorld.

RimWorld works on Steam Deck as it is now, but there are a number of UI issues and some general jankiness we intend to solve with an update.

Our developer who was working on this lives in Ukraine. After delays getting the Deck to him, the current situation there means he won't be making progress any time soon.

Our tech lead Piotr Walczak is taking over Steam Deck integration efforts. However, we probably won't have an integration patch out until after the Deck is released.

To those of you excited to play RW on the Deck - We are excited too! Please look forward to updates that should solve issues you might find. If you can, consider waiting for the update before you dive in. We want the experience to be as great as possible and we're working to make that happen.

We also welcome reports of any issues on the official dev Discord here[discord.gg]. Knowing the problems helps us solve them!

Thanks to everyone for your under... Read more
@ZippyVtuber @turk_komunist It's explained on the FAQ on http://ludeon.com actually. Not playing the game of constantly boosting hype saves a lot of time and energy we can put into things that actually matter in the long term.
@mykola @TheDiakou Nothing about the backstory says the person has 'no empathy'. That would be the psychopath trait, which isn't present here. "Caring" in this case is a mostly-arbitrary label referring to a few specific work types.
@DembaiUpdates @Marakkel @huhlig @queer_queenie It was not to 'create a trait to put in the game'. It was to create a backstory for one specific individual. None of it applies to any other individual.
@rynbtmn I haven't heard of that to be honest.
@turk_komunist Still breathing :) I try not to spend time on Twitter though.
@RagingLoony You could email [email protected] and Michael should help you.
@MaxwellNichola2 I think it's just for storytelling.
@_armannobari Beautiful shot too with the shuttle taking off. Awesome to see both expansions in there too! Enjoy.
@rr_reinhart_ Hey man just want to say it's really cool to see you playing RW. I remember when I was back in high school modding UT seeing your name on the dev team; you were among my heroes.
@rr_reinhart_ @flightgamer Something about this is really comedic to me.
RT @rr_reinhart_: Viewing Twitter through the lens of Rimworld would suggest at any moment 5% of people on this site are suffering catastro…
@spiderwebsoft Yes, a tiny minority of super-intolerant/super-sensitive people shouldn't be able to control what large numbers of people can say or hear. Reminds me of Taleb's Dictatorship of the Small Minority: https://medium.com/incerto/the-most-intolerant-wins-the-dictatorship-of-the-small-minority-3f1f83ce4e15
@CrackleWockDev Awesome - you guys deserve all the success you get.
Cursed Crew from RimWorld artist Oskar Potocki is on Kickstarter! Overlapping quasi-beneficial curses, character traits, and ship customization are triggering some good game design vibes here... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cracklewockgames/cursed-crew
@ATTWA_Roo Correct.
@ATTWA_Roo You shouldn't use any expansion classes or content without the expansion. The checks are just hints to help remind people; they are not exhaustive. If code never runs in vanilla, don't call it from a vanilla-only mod please.
@GameOnGardner Reminds me of this old post which, wording aside, helps put things in perspective. https://www.reddit.com/r/slatestarcodex/comments/9rvroo/most_of_what_you_read_on_the_internet_is_written/
@GameOnGardner It's selection bias. Mediaspace is dominated by those who have dedicated themselves to dominating it. How could it not be? The good news is the vast silent majority does not talk or think like the Twitter-obsessed weirdos who we're all tired of hearing about.
@afivegantenna @LegalizeRats I can feel my will to resist wearing thin....
