Rimworld Dev Tracker

@BramWoerkom It's actually a reference to the original Doom.
RimWorld is #14 best strategy game of all time according to @CultVultures ! Awesome. https://culturedvultures.com/best-strategy-games/
@ShadesOfGreyt That'd be cool, but it's all digital. The only physical art I have of RW is some stuff I drew myself, and it's... not this good.
Take a look at RimWorld's storyteller concept sketches from back in 2013. Cassandra Classic looked like a teenager. Randy Random looked even more insane. (Final versions added for comparison.) Credit to Ricardo Tomé for the art. http://pbs.twimg.com/media/FUrLQbGXwAAimAd.jpg
Hi there, we've got another update for you today! This update cleans up some rough edges in Steam Deck, and expands the number of game modes that can use Ideology functionality.

The update should be compatible with all saves and mods.

If the update cause problems and you have a bug to report, or you want to help us test, please join the Official RimWorld Development Discord[discord.gg]! Thank you to all of our testers for your feedback.

Have a great week!

Steam Deck Improvements
- Fixed multiple cases where on Steam Deck some keyboard shortcuts were mentioned
- Commands now show "button A" glyph instead of "A" label on Steam Deck.
- When architect search bar is focused on a Steam Deck and the on-screen keyboard is visible, move gizmos up so that they're still visible.
- Added "Keyboard mode" option on Steam Deck in case someone connects a keyboard to the SteamDeck.

Ideology Improvements

@draginol Well that's a vote of confidence if I've ever heard one - thank you very much Brad.
@BestYeen Good to hear :) I'm glad you enjoyed the book. Writing it was also a huge learning experience for me.

I really love this.

Interesting, thanks for letting us know. It looks like Steam made it default to Proton. I did a quick comparison between Linux Runtime vs Proton and it looks like Proton is faster for some reason. Startup time: 31s vs 35s.
Back in the day, games were often based *directly* on fiction or reality: Submarine captain, city mayor, airline pilot, wizard adventurer, galactic conqueror, etc. Nowadays almost all games are based on other games. We lost a lot of originality in that transition.
I should make this a RimWorld trailer https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/umknjg/animation_rng_moment/
Quality shines through in sales numbers. Reviews in the last 30 days: Fallout 3 (both versions): 331 Fallout New Vegas: 1,388 http://pbs.twimg.com/media/FR95d9UXsAAoOMW.jpg
I have the ambition of making RimWorld something worth playing for at least a few people in the 22nd century.
What games will people still play 100 years from now? Count both games that get continuously updated, and games played in original form. Counter-Strike is approaching the quarter-century mark and is still going strong.
3 hallmarks of ignorance in free speech debates: 1) Claiming that blocking someone on Twitter is inconsistent with free speech advocacy. 2) Conflating controls on what *adults* can say and hear with debates over what *schoolchildren* are taught. 3) "Fire in a crowded theater."
4) Failing to distinguish between: - not wanting to hear a message yourself, and - wanting to prevent others from discussing it between themselves https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1520063758273495045
@Jonathan_Blow Probably just not enough energy. It takes a surprising amount of physical labor to generate enough energy to run even small devices. Would be interesting to try to calculate how much power you get versus how much is needed.
Sometimes I think of game design like putting each idea on trial. I am prosecutor, defense, judge and jury, each in turn. Write it. Bolster it. Question it. Attack it. Try to replace it. Make alternatives. Recess, reconvene. Judge. Sentence. Implement, discard, or deep freeze.
Still in 2022 there's no good software I can find for managing game design tasks that's better than Google Docs. The solutions out there are so featureful but so fatally clunky due to the weight of their features. Can't decide if they want to be used by creators or managers.
Nice of them to make this decision on 4/20.
