MonstrousYi

His win rate looks the same to me like it did few patches ago so what changed? I haven't played the game in a while but i can only assume Death Dance and Bork changes boosted him enough to make it to the nerf list? Otherwise you have to look at other champions like Vayne and Riven that deserve more attention than Yi. Curious to know what you plan to nerf, the E?

not that much has changed recently, but the gist is his lethality build is dumpstering low elo, giving him a persistently high ban rate (and winrate) there. will try to fix that, esp since we don't particularly love duskblade Yi resetting and invising through a teamfight anyways.

I would remove or nerf the crit from the Q, never been fan of the one shot build anyway and in my opinion on-hit is just better in higher MMR than crit because of all the Zhonya's and Stopwatch in the game so maybe balance him around that. I really hope you don't screw him up in Plat+ MMR.

Edit: Thank you for giving some context

crits a somewhat fake lever, since the crit build goes rageblade second and the lethality build goes crit second. AS tie in is more likely target (CD Refund on attack) if we act on the Q specifically

Its very likely Yi's nerf will be punted a patch

Zeddit_B

What is the bugged interaction with Janna Glacial they are fixing?

Edit: There was a hotfix on Friday for Glacial in general sticking around too long. Is this something additional?

yeah this one was it specifically sticking too long with R, which was a different cause from the friday one

Spideraxe30

But you still haven't changed to Captain Gameplay on Reddit.

Can u change usernames?

Being a community manager at riot must literally be either the best or worst job ever.

Somedays like April Fools everyone is memeing and having a great time, and other times you’re fighting for your life in a patch notes thread.

i'm a game designer on the SR team (responsible for everything gameplay after champ select and preseason), not a community manager. :)

i've got pretty thick skin, and an implicit understanding that when players are mad, they really just care a lot - and that when players make angry and incorrect statements, its a coping mechanism for their ability to reconcile their own failures that plays to my advantage as someone interested in their continued engagement.

FairlyOddParent734

I think after 200 years; there’s been a serious narrative that Riot sees the community as apes in a casino.

arent we all just apes in a casino of life

If we come to the conclusion something is bad, we assess the priority to change or remove it. as with everything in league.

While i personally am offended someone would suggest pride would impact my decisions, it should also be noted that pride in a game well made and players having fun would likely be the primary source of pride for a game dev.

There's no universe where lethal tempo gives 75% attack speed per melee auto at level 18 right? I'm misreading that, yes? And this is coming from a yi main. Someone tell me I'm just an idiot.

yeah i a number

yeah i probably missed a decimal somewhere

Will investigate. Probably broke something when working on fixing a separate bug

And you will make it so Urgot does not shoot from the location of the missile when he is unable to attack, right.

...right?

Who can know these things

I explained how it's set to work right now, not that it's intended to create these interactions. Obviously the Hexgate is visually much different than the actual background interaction:

  • Visually: You channel then it spawns a particle that travels to the exit portal, when it arrives you appear.

  • Technical: You channel then become untargetable and hidden from the renderer and teleport to the exit hexgate. You are given a spell to decide your 'landing location' near the hexgate exit further. After a delay when the blue particle arrives, you become targetable and visible again.

and the technical side is just how they happen to manage your character while they are "inside" the hexgate and can most easily attach your camera and a cast indicator on them (though that can be done differently aswell, but usually in game dev a certain simplicity is key), but not how you're supposed to "think" of the effect as a typical player ofc. So Urgot shooting from the exit portal "before he arrives" is almost certainly not intended, just like Urgot shooting the fighters as a spectator in the 1v1 Deathmatch event.

Ofc, if u/GreaterBelugaWhale says it's intended, anyway, then it's intended. I just doubt he will.

yea right now its an instant tp then hide until the missile arrives. it will eventually be a move along with the missile

Who deserves buffs the most and why is it teemo

Good idea, but let’s just make his w a vayne tumble so he can better kite

I just woke up from a nap. I fully support this measure

The ult cdr reduction changed to the stacking mechanic alone is a huge buff. It is only a nerf at lvl16 which you will reach about 25-30% of the time on average(this is an estimate based on my own games). Being rewarded for using your spells well will be a lot more satisfying then having to leach every bit of xp.

Sona gets to level 16 in less than 10% of games

Definitively-Weirdo

I'm gonna respond to each one of his points

We care about how players are responding to the changes, and we've seen a fair amount of sentiment that this is a nerf.

Yeah, like at least 90% of Sona players and with good reasons, one of the many is that you're Riot JAG, and you have an atrocious historial with Kai'Sa (How many nerfs had she received the last 40 months?), Camille, "Aatrox", The preS11 tank items, and a Star guardian who enslaves sould and the story acts like she's a good girl.

From my perspective, I suspect that some people are undervaluing some of the specifics.

That's usually the case if you ask me. I don't think this is a nerf BUT it's definitively going in the wrong direction by keeping that haste and enforcing it while most Sona complain about the champion having their habilities feel not impactful enough.

We've seen a lot of playtests where Sona gets to two ultimates in the same lategame teamfight, which many players do not think will happen at all. So that's a fair amount of misalignment.

Yes, it can theoretically be used twice in a lategame TF, specially since you can detonate that passive up to 6 times with that W. But even then the hability has 2 minutes cooldown and 70 seconds with your standar build. It can be done but it's mostly on a gimmick territory who can easily go wrong if the TF goes like normal aka lasting almost nothing because those are generally very explosive (In part because of the changes you made to defensive items), and in case it becames reliable it'll be a broken part of the kit no reason.

The basic ability haste is also very front loaded compared to live, particularly if the Sona player plays the lane well. It's worse at 16, but you would need 80 Ability Haste from other sources for the old level 11 R Passive to break even with the new one.

You're right, you require 80 haste to be the same as before. The thing is that Sona can easily acheive that ammount of haste on her regular build. Oh, and there's an important bug with Aery, the rune Sona uses the most, not allowing to proc efficiently that aura.

That being said, we're open to the perspective that we're overvaluing it. To that end, we're removing the AP Ratio nerf for tomorrow's PBE build, and we will proceed cautiously in case we need to pull back.

I hope with "pull back" you mean do the same as August did with Wukong (The developer Riot respects when they're not supports) and pull back the proyect to discover which kind of rework Sona should have (I can kinda see it, and is mostly related to just remove the CDR and make the numbers to have bigger scaling outside the auras).

jag is not the designer working on sona. i am

design work is also fairly collaborative. the designer owning a project get opinions from everyone and then that designer makes a call.

im aware of the shield issue with W and looking into fixing it

Give me old Nunu E with like . . a 30% AP ratio and a short as fuck CD. Make the ratio lower if it's too good on a 2 or 3 second CD. I loved running and 'gunning' people down on old Nunu, and while the new one is pretty much objectively better, I don't enjoy new Nunu (& Willump) while I loved the old one. Probably just the lack of . . goofiness in the new one, but that's still a thing.

Are you a fan of snakes by any chance
