Did I do it right???

I am someone who has been taking the time to expand my career skills in hopes of finding an opportunity to work in community management, I can absolutely assure you that is not the case. I have a mentor who is the community lead for another video game that I am following with great interest and she has been instrumental in helping me learn everything about what she does and how it impacts the development of a game.

Video game community management is not just being a voice on official channels for a given game. You need skills in copywriting, graphic design, social media platforms, Agile/SCRUM/Jira, Google SEO Analytics, content creator outreach, and so much more. Not to mention you need to have a strong interest in the game you are a CM for AND be willing to put yourself in the line of fire of flames and trolling that occurs on channels like these forums.

So please, I ask you to carefully consider that you take the time to understand that what community managers do is a lot of work.

Andy is the community lead for the Overwatch community team. Which does mean he has a lot of responsibilities which go beyond participating on the forums. Don’t worry he is around, but I think it’s very important to understand that a community manager has a lot of tasks that we don’t get to see from our view.

Maybe mechanical skill??? But even then idk because each support hero is pretty unique.

I think people underestimate the situational awareness, game sense, and teamwork skills you need to be a good support.

If not friend, why friend-shaped?

I didn’t mean to diminish anyone’s thoughts or feelings, I just meant I have been with the game since 2016 but only joined Blizzard October 2021. I remember Blizzcon 2019 as a player and member of the Overwatch community.

I can’t offer anything right now, but I have a lot of faith in the future of this game. I hope we can make it up to those of you who are feeling frustrated right now.

My personal gripe with hero bans in Overwatch has always been the number of heroes (and then the number of heroes in each role).

I think bans would work better for DPS than they would support and tanks because those two roles have less heroes, but honestly I didn’t like the comp bans we tried way back when.

Counter-picks and teamwork is too important in Overwatch.

This made my heart skip a beat.

I know there’s not a whole lot I can offer right now because y’all really want to know what the future holds for Overwatch. Just know you feelings are 100% valid, and I understand the frustration. I have felt it, too.

I can let you know that this game is everything to the Overwatch team, and we are all super stoked for when we can share more with you.

I’ve been heads down on planning for the year to come, so my apologies for being less visible since the new year. Give me a few more weeks and then I’ll be a different kind of busy, but more able to jump in here on the forums.

All that said, Jodie is awesome, so y’all be sure to show her the same kindness you’ve extended to me.

Idk if this is OCD, but I accidentally rebound Zen’s “Thank You” to “No.”

I just kinda left it, and now every time someone does something nice for me, I thank them by saying,

“No.”

They pretty much went through a phase a few years ago where Hog replaced Reaper, tbh.

I do think Hog is counterable, though. Biotic grenade and discord eat him up. The team just needs to make sure he’s not getting close to supports.

I like playing support and tank the most, but I think it’s just an efficacy thing. I’m not BAD at DPS. I just feel way more confident on the other roles.

BUT 2022 IS MY YEAR. I CAN FEEL IT!

We also knew that the patch would shake up the meta a bit, something we’ll be closely monitoring this week. As usual, we’ll be summarizing your feedback and sending that along to Geoff and co.

Your measured feedback about your play experience once you’ve tried out the patch is going to be super helpful in said summary. If you don’t care for the experience, let us know what frustrated you about it. Try to be specific, avoid hyperbole, and just speak to your experience. If you like it, tell us what you enjoyed about it. Again, be specific, and try to avoid hyperbole (this is especially important in how you title your feedback threads).
