Current Issues

• On console, there’s an issue with the weapon on Orisa’s Starsheep skin.
• We’re investigating an issue regarding missing highlights and game reports.
• There’s a bug with Sojourn’s Cyber Detective skin is causing her to disappear while viewing it in the hero gallery.
  • Update: The skin will now appear in regular gameplay and can now be equipped again.
• There’s an issue with Brigitte’s GOAT skin affecting her shield’s transparency in first-person.
• Some PlayStation players are experiencing difficulty...

Current Issues

• Hanzo’s bow jerks upwards at the end of the fully-charged arrow animation
• Some PlayStation players are experiencing difficulty receiving and sending invites to group up
• Tracer’s Pulse Bomb does no self-damage when stuck directly on an enemy
• Some players are not getting rumble effects when using an Xbox or PlayStation controller on PC or console
• There’s an issue causing the camera to displace while using a souvenir while loading into a game

We’ve made progress working through many of the launch issues with Overwatch 2, and we are here to give some insight into what we have addressed, issues that have emerged now that we’ve cleared some of that away, and how we’re moving forward.

We expect to take the servers down at approximately 7pm PDT for an estimated one-hour maintenance to implement further fixes.

SMS Protect

The change to phone number requirements is now in effect. As we mentioned in our last status update, this means the majority of our console community (players who already had Overwatch connected to their Battle.net account, including any console player who has played since June 9, 2021) no longer need to meet SMS Protect requirements. Any PC player who ever played the original Overwatch has this requirement removed. Hello, heroes. Yesterday was an exciting day for the Overwatch team—a day that we know you have been looking forward to for a long time. While millions of people have been enjoying the game, the launch has not met your, or our, expectations.

In preparation for the launch of Overwatch 2, we sent out an email that provided customized in-game statistics to current Overwatch players. Unfortunately, a small number of players received an email with a randomized Battle Tag name and statistics. No other information was shared.

Overwatch League Midseason Madness Skin

Celebrate the Overwatch League Midseason Madness with the Royal Knight Mercy Legendary Skin! This skin is purchasable for a limited time with Overwatch League Tokens.

There have been a lot of changes in OW2 that affect Symmetra-- like 2CP being removed, one less tank per team, less barriers, and an overall more offensive, aggressive playstyle.

With these testing iterations, our goal is to make her feel more natural in Overwatch 2’s ecosystem. That being said, we recognize that this previous change wasn’t helping us achieve our goal, so we’re starting to test some different things internally.

She means a lot to us, too, and we will share more with you soon!

Welcome to the penultimate competitive season before Overwatch 2!

Season 35 of Competitive Play is here!

Unlocked at level 25, Competitive Play is designed for those players who want to put their skills to the test, and offers a more serious experience than our Quick Play or Arcade Modes.

GETTING STARTED

Before you can kick off your competitive career, every player will be required to complete five placement matches in a selected role to obtain their seasonal skill rating for that role. Within the standard Role Queue competitive mode, players will earn separate skill ratings (SR) for each role in Competitive Play, for a total of three distinct SRs. This rating will be a number between 1 and 5000, with higher values indicating a greater skill level. Players will also be assigned a tier per role based on their rating—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, or Grandmaster – and climbing into the next tier is possible as you improve. Howdy, folks!

We hope everyone has been enjoying themselves playing and keeping up with the Overwatch 2 Beta! We’ll have more in-depth updates next week, but there are a few things we wanted to address before then.

Symmetra’s Teleporter range has not been reduced as stated in the initial patch notes. The decision to keep her range came in pretty close to the beta, but her Teleporter range remains the same as it was prior to the beta at 30. This is now reflected correctly in the patch notes.

We’ve seen some feedback and thoughts on Mercy’s Guardian Angel changes, and this is something we plan to address next week. There will be updates to this ability in an upcoming mid-cycle patch.

Finally, we wanted to be completely transparent about when we’ll be patching the beta. Due to some tech limitations, it’s going to take a little longer before we can work in our planned changes across all platforms. However, there will be a mid-cycle patch including changes to Mercy and Moira.

• Some hero skins may appear twice in the hero gallery
• Investigating connectivity issues with PS5
• Sprays are not appearing on some objects
• Several Issues/Bugs with Golden Weapons
• Controller Rumble is not present for all of Junker Queen’s abilities
• Sombra’s “undetected” highlight will sometimes not play during Play of the Game
• Some Zenyatta skins are missing coloring
• Players can clip through or jitter when changing directions while Ice Wall spawns
• Multiple heroes may have outdated hero tips
• Baptiste’s Exo Boost may occasionally hitch
• Some assets may not load during play of the game or kill cam
• On certain GPUs enabling both Dynamic Render Scale and Vsync can cause visual quality degradation
  • If affected, consider disabling either Dynamic Render Scale or Vsync
• There’s a chance client will crash on startup
  • One past startup, the client shouldn’t crash

Xbox Consoles

• If you have auto-downloads on, Watchpoint Pack will automatically begin downloading in your game library
• If you do NOT have auto-downloads on, you need to search for the Watchpoint Pack in store and can download there

PlayStation Consoles

• Search for Overwatch Watch Point Pack in store
• Click into the Watchpoint product
• Click the ellipses on the side and you should have an option for beta product to download
