The Havoc expansion for EVE Online was introduced last November, and has been a big hit with capsuleers, introducing the chance to align with pirates or fight against them, in a gripping struggle between suppression and corruption. Nothing is static in New Eden, including Havoc, and the first update of the new year is now live, bringing adjustments to Pirate Insurgencies, graphical updates, certain NPCs respecting pirate alignment, and more.

Modify your ambitions

Among the things announced on stage at Fanfest 2023, when the Havoc expansion was revealed, was the inclusion of an Ambition Modifier, which adjusts the number of points needed to win an Insurgency. The Ambition Modifier has now been implemented in Havoc, and it will affect the side that regularly wins Insurgencies by requiring more system wins for subsequent victories. The PvP tournament scene looks to be better than ever in 2024 with the recently announced sixth iteration of the Anger Games. This community-run PvP tournament kicks off 13 April with sign-ups open now! 

The rules have been updated for this year, with teams starting out in a round-robin group stage, guaranteeing at least three matches per team, with the top 16 teams then entering a traditional double elimination section.

EVE Online Careers Chart

Remember that huge, cool looking chart of EVE Online careers from a while back? You know the one. It looked a bit like this:

You may not have checked it out for a while since the original creator's last version dates from 2016. Well ICYMI, for the last two years the task of maintaining the chart has been taken up by a player called Mu'ad Diib.

With original creator Altrue's blessing and input, Mu'ad Diib has been updating and refining the EVE Online Career Chart and is still at it. Lots of activities have been added and there are some new features as well! For example with the interactive PDF version of the chart you can click on a career or category and be linked to appropriate EVE Uni wiki page on the subject, a useful guide or some other relevant resource.

Recently, the EVE Vanguard First Strike event saw legion take to the surface and help spread corruption in New Eden by fulfilling contracts on the frontlines. We are thankful to all who participated in this first experimental deployment of these new warclones in New Eden. This was merely the beginning and we want to take a moment to reflect on some of the learnings from the First Strike event, and take a look ahead at what is in store in the first half of 2024. Havoc certainly brought chaos to the frontlines. BearThatCares proved that you can contribute outside of running complexes or scoring PvP kills. Ships die in the warzone, and sometimes you just need to get back in the action! It's that time again! Welcome back to another edition of the Community Beat. It's jam-packed full of content, as everyone has been inciting chaos.

New Edens' first registered alliance turns 19 Years old!

The first-ever registered alliance in New Eden, Ushra'Khan, celebrated turning 19 years old on 25 November! It is an impressive accomplishment for an establishment in New Eden to continue for so long, and we offer our congratulations and hope to see them hit the big 20 next year!

The Magic Schoolbus project also turns 9 Years old!

CSM Member Mike Azariah usually tours the career systems in New Eden, dropping in, saying "hi!" in local chat in his Bowhead, and handing out free-fitted frigates, destroyers, and even the occasional cruiser to new pilots.

The new offers a faster, more seamless way to immerse yourself in EVE’s universe, and includes a host of community-requested features. Your characters are now front and center of the launch experience, and there are plenty of opportunities to personalize that experience too - just how you want it.

The new launcher also helps us deliver crucial security updates quickly and automatically, and makes reporting any issues you run into faster and easier than ever before.

As part of the rollout process, you’ll soon be prompted to accept this update from the existing launcher. Simply hit the upgrade button when you see it, and all of your accounts will be automatically transferred, making it easy to quickly warp back into New Eden. Now that the upgrade process is very nearly finalized, please be aware that the old version of the launcher is no longer available to download.
