wrong, there is a code of conduct for PvE. for example, it is considered illegal to spam small dinos like dodos/dilos. you can also get wiped for claiming too much land (e.g. excessive pillering). they do enforce these rules pretty frequently. on 2 of my servers some tribes got wiped for pillering, our tribe got wiped on another server for spamming dodos some time ago.

edit:
these are the current rules:

> Game Blocking - you are not allowed to block other tribes from playing the game on PvE servers. This can include but is not limited to:

  • Building at their base
  • Blocking in other tribes dinos
  • Blocking access in/out of a tribes base
  • Obstructing pathways or waterways for the purpose of denying another tribe access
  • Blocking access to important resources (ie. charge nodes, gas nodes, Extinction City Terminals, etc)
  • Intentionally filling the server tame limit via spamming tames (such as Dodo, Jerboa, or easy to ‘tame and maintain’ dinos) and/or rafts
  • Leaving tames inside of caves or on obelisk teleportation platforms

> Structure Spamming - placing structures down such as pipes or wires for the purpose of disrupting others gameplay is against our code of conduct.

> Intentionally using wild creatures to destroy a player's assets when not in a tribe war.

GM intervention may be necessary if your structure or creature is negatively impacting a server (ie. you block off a large portion of the map so that other members of that server cannot access it).

Correct, there is a COC for PvE. While it may not seem like it is always enforced to the fullest, I wouldn't want to be caught on the wrong side of the fence. I recommend to play clean and continue to report those who aren't.

Please check your dm's from me. Quick 5 minute read.

:) Seen. I'll make sure these get added and I'll try to do a better job at reading my DM's sooner.

I'll keep bugging!

While hes probably the best CM wildcard has ever had, I have to agree with this to some extent.

The fact that the QoL list exists is fantastic, but 80% of it was copied and pasted from the responses to one Twitter post, which provides no means of judging whether or not the changes are desired by the Ark community.

Yet very few of the QoL entries came from the Game Suggestions page that has a voting system and was made for this exact purpose.

This makes it hard to trust them when they say using the "proper channels" for both Game Suggestions and Enforcement Issues will lead to faster responses on their end. In fact, this is one of the reasons some YouTubers and streamers leak bugs, meshing, etc, they know that publicity will get the problems fixed faster than using the "proper channels", which forces wildcard to drop what they're doing and fix it immediately, leading to poor project management and therefore less time to fix problems preemptively.

The problem with Tek bridges is a bug not a QoL suggestion, so I can see why it's not on the list, but damn, imagine Wildcard finally giving us the dynamic bridges we wanted after years of anticipation, then releasing a patch months later that breaks them completely on official servers.

My first impression was like "oh damn I can use Tek bridges for this ramp hell ya!" Then I just didn't know how to react when I realized there was nothing I could do to change the fact that I'm just not allowed to have working Tek bridges, yet they're in the game. It was really an odd feeling.

Regardless, /u/wildcardced keep up the good work, you got a lot on your plate but youre managing it all on your own so none of us blame you, looking forward to upcoming QoL changes.

I used the forums as well. Some of the suggestions that are on the forums are on twitter as well because a lot of people use more than one platform. I appreciate the honest feedback. I won't argue that most of my commentary is on Twitter. Twitter is a platform in where if people want to ask you a question, they tag you. Reddit and the forums are not always that way. Reddit and forums tend to have active conversations that may or may not benefit from dev interaction. The same is not true for twitter where if someone @'s me, I know its something directed at me. But the feedback is warranted and valid. I need to spread the love :)

He is only on twitter and usually is reply to the same exact people for hours on end.

Fucking hate twitter and social media. Why is it so hard to use your own official channels...you know like the fucking forums and news page on your own damn site.

I've been more active on Reddit and the forums.

I know it may seem that way, but that's not the case :) . The post you referenced first was at a time when we had 2 community managers and times were less busy. DLC launches are extremely busy and always benefits when you have more than one person to share the load. Your feedback won't go unnoticed though!

I got the same, again left side Data corruption detected and right side just gibberish.

Gibberish hmm?

Happy but out of the loop player here:

Are you still planning on adding NPC pirate bases and cats soon?

Keep your eye on the PTR this weekend, hopefully we'll have something there for you ;)

This wasn't a suggestion by a mega-tribe. We're objectively looking at all servers and when we looked at the beginner servers we saw they weren't being used as intended and wanted to make changes. I can understand preferring these servers for performance reasons but there are other options for playing if that's your main/only concern. Admittedly, server performance is an area that needs improvement.

We'll be looking at other servers and server types and making changes if needed.

What I know is that hacker on GG side is decompiling Ark and he knows every step you do on client side :-/

It's the sad reality of the business. Staying one step ahead of the latest exploits/hacks is challenging. There will always be new methods, new dupes, new exploits, new ways to mesh. Which is why the response is just as important as finding a way to prevent them.

Can you at least roll the server back to the point where there was no PVP and they had there tribe? At least that way the war can continue.

While it's a possibility, I haven't heard anything of the sort yet. At the moment, enforcement and QA are still doing some investigation and discussing options.

Edit: For clarity anything is possible and I don't want to rule out anything for the simple fact of having to go back on my word.

Thank you for the response Ced, is there anything that can be actively done about the tribe on 188? That is one of the oldest Land Bases in Ark and there is a huge war going on. Now they are impacted by some sort of GodMode/Dev Client Wizard who has split the tribe, put them as allies making it impossible to defend.

Is there a way the server can be locked down until the issue is resolved?

I know that enforcement is actively looking at the situation. I can't get into details 1. Because I don't know them and 2. It's not proper etiquette but when/if action is taken I'll be sure the community knows (generally) what action was taken and what to expect going forward.

I posted something in a thread that has the same sentiment as this one and the message will largely be the same. Some of these discussions in the thread are happening internally too. It's not lost on the team that there is a problem plaguing the official network and some measures need to be taken to re-establish a healthy player base.

What I can say about this incident is that this incident and incidents like these are being investigated and part of a larger initiative to deal with some of the rampant cheating, exploits, duping, and meshing we've seen trending on official servers. Technical solutions are just as important as active enforcement.

I understand the frustration with the perceived lack of action and attention to these matters. I understand you want solutions, as do we. There's been a lot of discussion internally on proper procedure for enforcement, escalation, response time, and prioritization. The enforcement team and the procedures we had 2 years ago was sufficient for the landscape, but that isn't holding true now.

No excuses here, its a problem and I hope to have some clarity on these things soon.

Where can we post QoL items for Ced? I've been looking for that info, haven't seen it. Thanks!

I believe he is largely sourcing them from here (These aren't just QoL suggestion so he has to filter through them for this particular objective) https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/forum/64-game-suggestions/

My understanding that this QoL list he is putting together is a work in progress and that he will still be adding things to it.

The hardcore Valguero server is now live. NA-PVP-Xbox-Valguero-Hardcore9

I did this with otters one time.... ....and didnt log in for 3 days.

My PC is a monster so when I logged in and was HARD lagging, i knew something was wrong. Walked around the corner to a sea of otters spilling out or the corner I'd caged them in. Then I DCd and starting laughing my ass off at the otter wave I had created lol

That reminds me of the totally-intentional-definitely-not-a-bug Beaverpocalypse that happened in the Sunken Forest during the Extinction launch.

That looks awesome!

Really? I mean really, OC Crossplay needs a Valguero and people have asked... Why you got to be so cruel? Aussies are human too.

Not meaning to be cruel. Though when it comes to OC servers its purely based on our current availability and how we can allocate those resources. I will have a look and see if there is somewhere that we can place a Valguero OC instance and get a server going for you guys. I can't make any promises though
