What's up with the sports focus? Can't find any holiday the looks like it'd be linked.

We recorded a bunch of these triathalon pieces with players over the past couple weeks... and we suddenly had A LOT of them on our hands and thought it'd be fun to just make a day out of it on broadcast :)

The Lolesports website offers me Twitch in English and Spanish, but Youtube only in Spanish, despite having the English Youtube available as recently as yesterday. Amazing work lads

Looking into this, thank you!

Since no one is watching, I can complain I was banned from NACL for answering someone's question to the Ryan Gosling meme, and now I can't type literally any word, even champions, players AND teams in the main Riot chat without it being restricted "due to conflicts with the channel's moderation settings."

I'm not even mad. Maybe it's Riot giving me a subtle nudge. I just wanted to support my teams...

What's your twitch? I can ask our mods to take a look.

LPL teams have multiple venues with different tech teams yet, pauses like these are rare.

What is going on with the LCS production?

I'd say pauses like this are rare in LCS, too. In this instance, the game did not load. When that happens, everyone who was in the lobby is unable to rejoin a game (since the game still thinks players are in the "ghost" game). We have a fix that did not work, so we had to swap to a backup client. Not really something we can control, unfortunately. Apologies for the delay all the same, though.

We got this view for a few minutes, and then just a blank screen for a while until they fixed the spectator stuff.

Kinda neat to see how they set up the slow-mo shots and zoom ins though.

Hey there, as some have guessed this is a direct feed from one of our observers and was the result of an errant layer being keyed in our switcher. Took us a little while to figure out the issue and resolve, so apologies to those in the venue who missed out on some action.

Someone from production tell Phreak he's got the tag still stuck under the armpit of his suit jacket lol

We're breaking the rules around here.

Hey man, any more updates on this topic? Seems like for LEC the feature is still disabled which makes it practically impossible to catch up with vods within a reasonable timeframe and spoilerfree.

Hey there, I work on the LCS team and don't have context from LEC on their VODs to give any insight, but I'll forward this feedback to them.

Hey there, I can't DM so just wanted to reply in hopes that you are able to check your reddit chat soon :)

Sorry for the delayed update on this. The feature to automatically upload VODs to twitch after the broadcast ends was disabled temporarily on the backend, but should now be restored.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

I love this.

Is Huni getting booed :(

Pretty sure they are Huuuniiiiii chants but it doesn't come across that way through the audience mics.

Skipping champ select is jarring.

I think champ select is kind of too long shown in full. I'd prefer a not live recreation of the champ select maybe catching up in the second pick phase so we get caster reaction/discussion to picks but don't sit through all the thinking.

The easiest option is just showing everything, which is fine.

I think coming in at the second pick phase is a great compromise.

Lollllerscats

Don’t think they were doing it to save time or intentional, probably just a fuck up on production side because FLY are playing remote.

It was intentional. The idea behind the experiment is that champ select can often times be pretty stale and repetitive, and we wanted to explore opportunities to skip the ~7min of live champ select and cover the story of the draft in the first few minutes of the game when no action is happening.

Appreciate any feedback from you all about whether you like it or not, and why. Thanks!

LazerFruit

Draft is an integral part of the game. Dont skip it

We agree and never want to skip past that information. When we got into the game, we displayed the pick order of the draft. It sounds like that still felt like skipping it, though?

Not trying to be defensive, just want to genuinely understand what aspect of the live draft feels like it's being skipped, if you don't mind sharing.

aquawarrior21

Seeing how the champ select unfolds with theorycrafting/discussion between people live makes the champ select feel so much more exciting on how it gets to the end result. Just seeing how it plays out is both visually confusing for me and makes the whole process seem way more confusing and easier to flame bad comps since there’s no context given behind seeing it unfold in real time

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!

Hey there, if you have feedback around skipping champ select, would love to gather it in replies to this comment. Especially appreciate what you like about it and/or what you don't like about it and why.

I want to make sure we're capturing what aspect of the idea you all think is good/bad, as well as what aspect of the execution you all think is good/bad!

The only annoying part is it feels like everyone in the community has, in an attempt to be more welcoming to trash talk, actually taken all the fun out of trash talk. Players SHOULD get ribbed when their trash talk backfires. Now if feels like anytime someone pokes fun at a player for doing poorly after trash talking they get flooded with a bunch of "trash talking is good for the scene, stop trying to make players not want to do it" type comments. If Jojo says he's gonna shit on EU and then loses 4 times to G2 he SHOULD get made fun of. There needs to be some kind of stakes or else it's completely meaningless. This is also why not everyone is cut out to trash talk and you need to have somewhat of a thick skin to do it. Obviously no one should escalate it to the level of personal attacks or anything like that, but right now it just feels like every response to trash talk is some meta analysis on the merits of trash talking e.g."Well he may have been wrong but I like when people trash talk". It's so fucking boring. It's so refreshing going in regular sports subs where if someone trash talks and it backfires, they get clowned on for a bit and then everyone moves on.

Now if feels like anytime someone pokes fun at a player for doing poorly after trash talking they get flooded with a bunch of "trash talking is good for the scene, stop trying to make players not want to do it" type comments

I think what you're seeing is people trying to guard against something else you said:

Obviously no one should escalate it to the level of personal attacks or anything like that

No one should do that, but it still happens anyway. I think people are jumping in quick to counteract that behavior. Otherwise the cycle repeats itself: Players talk smack, lose, get absolutely destroyed on social media (as opposed to 'get clowned on for a bit') and then decide it's not worth it. It seems like the community is actually trying to find a balance to preserve a fun thing, and I can appreciate that.

It's something I've never understood about LCS/LEC, there is just so much content with casters and almost none with the players. People want to see the players talk about League, not the casters

It always comes down to willingness and availability. While both the LEC and LCS have some content requirements, the vast majority of content requires that both the pro and the team want to do it, and that it fits into an already busy schedule. I think a lot of fans might just assume that LEC and LCS have access to whomever they want, whenever they want, and that's just not the case.
