How would you know this information when the Anti-cheat is not out as well?

The anticheat is installed as part of the installation process.

There was a League of Legends forum post about anticheat and virtual machines which provided some context as to why virtual machines were not supported but the League forums are gone now :(.

Any chance you are running the installer in a virtual machine?

Masdron

Yup, that is exactly what I am doing.

As far as I am aware virtual machines aren't supported due to anticheat reasons.

Any chance you are trying to install the game on a virtual machine (or using a cloud gaming service which uses virtual machines)? Most of the folks I have seen get this error are trying to install on a virtual machine. As far as I am aware that is not supported due to anticheat reasons.

Ok this is not good, it's constantly writing to the drive, meaning if it sits on the SSD for days and days, just writing - that is technically slowly killing the SSD/M.2 drive.

Edit:
The issue is now fixed!

Thank you, Riot! :)

This might be related to a an issue we just pushed out a fix for. Please restart to download the latest version. Make sure the RiotClientServices.exe process is dead prior to starting the game back up again, I think it may have been getting stuck for a few people. Let us know if you still run into this after updating to the latest version.

I believe we may have pushed out a fix for this issue. Please restart to pull down the latest version. Make sure the RiotClientService.exe is dead prior to starting the game back up again. It seems to have been getting stuck shutting down for a few folks, use task manager to kill it. Once its dead and you launch the game again it should install the latest version with the fix. Let us know if you are still running into this after downloading the latest version.

I still have this problem.

I cant really help you unless you are a bit more specific :X.

What problems are you seeing? High CPU usage? Is it coming from the RiotClientServices.exe or VALORANT process? Are you seeing it even after you close the game? Is RiotClientServices.exe filling up the disk?

If you are seeing high CPU usage from RiotClientServices.exe I might be able to help. I will probably need your logs to troubleshoot though.

KingSmileee

I have cleared the disk and I closed the RiotServices.exe. The update helped for my CPU usage it's at a 30-45% (I was experiencing 10-20%). Although I have low GPU usage and it may be affecting my FPS (30%). I have tried putting it on high priority but it makes my FPS even worse. I have also seen way lower-end specs performing way better than my specs and I'm not the only one. I have looked at the min specs for 144 fps and people with better specs are getting lower FPS? And comparing these specs to mine (GTX 1060 3GB i7 7700 16RAM And ~160 FPS) I should be getting far better FPS than 160. Also, I hope you have acknowledged the horrible optimisation for AMD processors, where people are getting 100-120 FPS With High-End CPUs. ((Proof, Proof 2, Proof 3...) I hope these problems are resolved for the full release.

Edit: There is also FPS drops with certain abilities like the smokes, the blaze, sage's wall etc.

Ah I see, that sounds like its out of my area of expertise unfortunately. It sounds like your issue is you are getting less FPS in game than you would expect. I believe you probably want to reach out to someone on the VALORANT game team (like RiotNaCl for example). I am sorry I am not of much use in this situation.

I am on the RiotClientServices.exe team which works on things like patching for example. This particular reddit post was about issues with RiotClientServices.exe.

Fix doesn't work for me. I have i5-6600k and game uses 100% :(

Game as in VALORANT.exe or RiotClientServices.exe? Which process is using 100%?

This issue occurred on the 7th during the day and was fixed on the 7th late at night. One thing to note is that the files would have eventually been cleaned up. The way it works is that when you launch the game, it creates a new file and deletes the oldest one. It only keeps a certain number of files.

While the immediate issue was fixed, we have been following up on making it so that a runaway bug can't cause an issue like this in the future.

This bug was mentioned and I thought they said they fixed it and you just needed to restart but guess not

It has been fixed, if you look at the name of the offending file it is 2020-04-07. That is the date the issue occurred and also the date we pushed out a fix to the issue.

One thing I would like to note is that the file would have eventually been cleaned up. The way it works is every time you launch the game a new file is created and the oldest one is deleted. It only keeps a certain number of files around. With enough launches this very large file would have become the oldest and been deleted.

While the immediate issue has been fixed, we are following up on making it so a runaway bug can not cause issues like this in future. This was a very serious bug and has caused a lot of discussion on our side in order to prevent it from ever happening.

Valorant.exe is using this much.

If its Valorant.exe then it is a different issue. The issue in this thread was with RiotClientServices.exe. You can reach out to player support, they may have some ideas.

April 16, 12:50pm I just updated and now my CPU is stupid high now and I can't even play league

Which process is causing the high CPU usage? RiotClientServices.exe or VALORANT.exe?

Gulagbandit

LeagueclientUxRender.exe I literally was playing league lastnight with 60 fsp then this morning Boom dropped fsp to 5

I can only help with issues with RiotClientServices.exe. If the high CPU usage is indeed in LeagueClientUxRenderer then it could be related to the new patch. The 10.8 patch was released on the 14/15. I haven't seen any discussion about FPS drops due to LeagueClientUxRenderer CPU utilization with 10.8 but I am also not on the League team so I am not in the loop for a lot of these types of discussion. I think the VALORANT devs in this subreddit wouldn't be able to help either.

My recommendation is to reach out to player support. They may already be aware of the issue and have a workaround. If they do not have a workaround, it is still useful to report so they can have an estimate of how many people are running into the issue. It may help get the issue prioritized over other current issues that are being dealt with.

Hello, sorry you ran into this issue.

If you are still running into this issue can you please go to the game website, download the game installer from the website and run the installer. Make sure that you've closed the "process is already running" window before running the installer. Our team updated the game installers last night and players have confirmed that this fixed the issue.

If it doesn't fix the issue let me know and I can try to work with you to resolve it.
