The account is locked so nobody can access it until the recovery is sorted. We have your latest request, it is strong in parts but I feel won't be enough to recover, if it is denied please submit from the ISP you usually use to play.
But he didn’t really answer the actual question of how the 100 pmods per month are chosen out of the probably 1000+ players that fit the criteria to become one. Do their names pop up from running a query? Is word of mouth involved? Still very mysterious to me
Yes the names are run from a query of active players who meet qualifying criteria that can be automated, for example has authenticator, game bias, timezone etc. - then manual checks are done on that list
Hey Steve, I know you are getting a lot of messages! Hoping you could look at altranumb - more info sent in PM. The account has been perm muted for a long while and initial appeal at time of mute was denied. I am thinking it might meet the criteria. I know if the mute was lifted the accounts ability to type would never be put in jeopardy again. *rsn correction
No such account - either it has name changed or you are Dr typo ...
Oy Steve m8 ya mind fixing my car and buyin me a house while you're here?
Sorry the car is beyond economical repair. I've placed a bid of £1 on a home I think you'll love, if I win the auction i'll let you know.
I appealed with an apology. Lets hope it works :)
OK - wait times on ban appeals is quite good ATM - I'd estimate you should get an outcome on Saturday
Hey my account had been hijacked and then later banned for rwt. Could you please help me out. It was banned 2017 I think
RWT bans are not appealable sorry
bro i said the n word 3 months ago i was just having a laugh umute pls
... not my interpretation of 'having a laugh' tbh - mute is correct and is perm, sorry.
Seeing as you’re replying to people in this thread, I figure it’s worth a shot to ask you. I have a childhood account, which I can provide a lot of information for but not the ones on the recovery form as I was a child at the time of creating the account.
Is there a method of contacting someone to tell them everything I know, to see if I’m allowed to have the account?
Important info is that the account is a low level RS3 account with no wealth at all, it’s just sentimental value for me and it always bothered me that I can’t recover it.
Sorry the info asked for on the recovery form is the info required, so I'm afraid knowing things that are not on the form won't help
Hi Steve. My account was banned in October 2017 as I was phished by a twitch stream which said there was a double XP weekend. The phisher took all my stuff in my bank and it was gone, so I didn't even care and didn't change the password. A few days later, I logged in and found myself at chinchompas south of castle wars. So I assumed they had botted on the account. Then a few days or weeks later, I got a marcoing major ban.
I am just wondering, I have heard that after 3 years you can be unbanned if you send an apology to jagex. Do you think I should do that? Or should I list the reason for the appeal as my account was hijacked?
Its important to note that I did get banned in October 2013 and I was actually botting back then. I got a moderate ban, or a temporary ban titled 'Bot Busting Moderate' back in 2013. So it may seem like I have botted twice if I tried to apologise, it might be refused, repeat offences are not looked at kindly. However, the most recent ban was not me. It was a hijacker. But I am not sure if jagex will unban me if I claim I was hijacked, because I was banned previously, they are probably going to think it was a repeat offence.
The account would be amazing if I could get it back. It was the first ever account I created back in October 2006, I even have the skeleton outfit from the halloween event in 2006 on it (in what is RS3 now of course)
Thanks for any help you can give :)
Yes pop an appeal in, if they can see it was hijacked at the time they will grant it
Hi Stevew please could you also look into my hcim ‘Disconext’? I was banned several years ago and put a lot of hours into it - I’ve tried sending appeals recently but haven’t received a response.
A ban appeal was processed in August 2020 - subsequent duplicates are not reviewed
Hi there @mod_Stevew after reading this I am wondering if you can look into my acc mute as I was muted near 8 years ago myself and just put up with it after being dennied when I appealed it back in that that frame I have continued playing the game all these years thanks for you time reading this Rsn- Off Task. 😀
That mute is applied by the Community Safety team and is perm.
can you unmute IGN "compy" too?
I got muted like 3 years ago for being goofy at wintertodt & Im sorry, I just really miss being able to talk to ppl ingame :/
... not my interpretation of 'goofy' tbh - mute is correct and is perm, sorry.
I think this is the right course, but it opens another question for me. If this is the approach we take for an individual, do you blanket unmute / unban accounts of a certain age? I suspect no one anticipated this game would be doing what it is two decades on, and thus didn’t need to consider how permanent these would really be.
Those permanent bans and mutes are beginning, in some cases, to appear quite heavy handed. Add in the context that these will in many cases have been perpetrated by children that are now very much adults… To save yourself a good deal of customer support effort, might it be an idea to overturn these?
Most perm offences are intended to be perm. There are some outliers such as this case where (1) a large number of mutable offences are committed in (2) a certain period which is (3) a long time ago and in addition (4) they have already been appealed - I should think it is a fairly small group of players that fall into that exact criteria but i will take a look.
We've sorted this for you - in fairness the 'password backwards' was a common tactic back in the day and we saw a lot of accounts hijacked through that scam approach - you were reported 111 times over a fairly lengthy period and as a result a perm mute was applied.
We do recognise that it was some time ago and you've continued to play on the muted account, so all things considered the mute has now been removed - enjoy having your voice back.
On a bit of housekeeping ... you may wish to edit your post and remove your account creation date as that can be part of the account recovery process, nobody can recover the account if that is all they know, but being risk-averse it's probably best to not have it in the public domain.

pop a ban appeal in
This isn't linked to the beta in any way. I can see you submitted a ban appeal through the support system yesterday and that has already been granted and the ban removed
If it's a perm mute it sounds to me like it might be a bit more than an isolated incident .. but let me know the RSN and I'll take a review of it
Update: I've received the RSN and checked the mute, it is nothing to do with 'Mark Donalds' and perm mute is the correct penalty.
Hey, i have been perm muted for some years now on my max account osrs "Opti3s" i have been trying everything to appeal but i cant, i have been on discord all this time with raids and such but i really miss the small chats with people, i know mistakes have been made but mistakes are also to learn from and i really feel i have learned from, if its possible if you could look into it i would really really appreciate it. I made a second account "Donnie rokko" but i dont have nearly enough time as i did years ago since i have work and family now. I hope you will see this message and apoligies to everyone i did wrong
Hi, the mute is permanent, we sent a warning of 2 March 2018 that the account would be muted if rule breaking continued, and as we've had 493 abuse reports submitted to us that mute was applied 12 September 2019
I appreciate the response so much but I promise there is no option to appeal anywhere after I click "appeal a mute" on that page. The link prompts me to log in, which then leads to the account history page which looks like this. I can click on "show expired/quashed offences" and further view evidence but no option to appeal anywhere along the way. Sorry to be a bother.
Right that is odd, you are a member which is the only reason appeal option may not be available. I'll pass this to our internal QA. To resolve this I've gone ahead and removed the mutes, I checked in with our appeal team who confirmed they would be granted if appealed. It might take a few minutes until the mute is lifted.
