A few moments ago, the Earthfury realm was successfully returned to a single layer.

This reflects a recent decrease in peak population on that realm, but may lead to occasional, small queues in the evening on Earthfury.

We continue to monitor realm populations closely, with an eye on opportunities to bring other layered realms back to the intended single-layer experience.

Update April 30 – 3:00 p.m. PDT

Earthfury is no longer layered.

At around 3:00 p.m. PDT today, we will close the Free Character Move service on all realms where it is currently available.

In this region, this means that all of the different Free Character Moves available from Incendius, Faerlina, and Whitemane will no longer be offered.

We will continue to monitor realm populations, and make further adjustments as necessary.

A note about testing during the last week’s Alpha, in which some testers were able to look at classes in Torghast that were incomplete:

Fortunately, most warrior abilities were in place and functional last week. Nonetheless, today’s new Alpha includes additional warrior powers and bugfixes.

On the other hand, there were testers who looked at shaman abilities that were a remnant of an internal Torghast prototype from over a year ago. While the spirit of some of those abilities may be seen in future shaman Anima Powers, no one should expect them to have survived intact.

Few things survive in Torghast.

I’ve updated the OP with:

Hotfixes

WoW Classic
April 28, 2020

  • In the Americas region, battleground holidays now start at the same time for all realms.
    • Developers’ notes: While this is a change to how original WoW worked, with battlegroups of realms including only realms that were in the same time zone, it allows us to treat US-East and US-West realms as a single battlegroup for the purposes of matchmaking. Players on US-East realms will now begin and end their battleground holidays three hours later than before.
  • Players can now undelete characters on locked realms, if the character is available for undeletion.
  • Fixed a bug that could sometimes cause fewer than all four Dragons of Nightmare to spawn as intended.
  • Many item enchantments now stack with certain items that provide an identical buff.
  • Many item enchantments that previously took up a hidden buff slot no longer consume a hidden buff slot.

With this week’s update to the Shadowlands Alpha, testers will encounter a number of changes to Torghast:

  • Mounting has been disabled everywhere in Torghast.
    • Developers’ notes: This was a bug. We apologize for any misunderstanding it introduced. Our goal is for Maw Powers that grant movement abilities to be powerful, valuable choices. We feel that this is the way to continue building interest in moving around the space efficiently.
  • Priest Anima Powers which previously only affected Flash Heal now also affect Shadowmend. Several other existing Priest Anima Powers have also been adjusted.
  • The Tarragrue is tired of being bullied and has bolstered his defenses.
    • Developers’ note: Please continue trying to bully the Tarragrue.
  • Torghast escort NPC’s can now be stunned temporarily if they take too much damage.
  • Urns are now named Ashen Phylacteries.
  • Many bug fixes.
  • Many more bug fixes.

With the major changes coming to leveling characters from 10-50 in Shadowlands, we want to make sure that there is a navigational parity among all of the different expansions you can choose while questing. In the next version of the Shadowlands Alpha that will appear this week, testers are going to see an intentional change coming to Shadowlands for a couple of older Pathfinder achievements.

Specifically, the flight training rewards from Draenor Pathfinder and Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two will no longer be required for flying in Draenor or Broken Isles content. These will now be granted at level 30 with expert flying.

The achievements will remain in place as before, and Draenor Pathfinder will still be the way to earn the Soaring Skyterror mount, while Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One will continue to reward increased mount speed in the Broken Isles.

I’m sure I did. Let’s agree that I did.

Two mages sheeping each other is one of my favorite things to ever witness in WoW.

I remember the first time I saw it, in Warsong Gulch in 2005. I was a Holy Paladin and one of the mages was a friend of mine who would scream very loudly on Roger Wilco at times like that.

There are two layers on every layered realm, that’s correct.

Hello.

I’d just like to reiterate that Free Character Moves do not cause a cooldown on the Paid Character Transfer service.

I apologize for any confusion caused by imprecise communication about that. We looked into this case and we have a lot of certainty that the cooldown is working properly for players who have used a Paid Character Transfer in the last 90 days.

Our hotfix for this issue is now live. The benefit of a Zul’Gurub class enchant is canceled if:

  • The player is not the correct class to use the enchant.
  • The player is not level 60.

The item itself will not be destroyed, and the enchant text will still appear on it. If they have one, players can replace the nonfunctional enchantment with another one.

We have have a hotfix coming soon that will prevent this sort of trade from being operable in the first place.
