We intend to soon deploy a hotfix that will make Season 4 crafted items corruptable using the new Contaminants. This will not change how they initially drop (they still won’t be initially Corrupted), but they’ll now be valid targets for the Preserved Contaminant.

This will, of course, exclude items that cannot ever be Corrupted, such as engineering goggles (Azerite) or alchemist stones (trinkets).

We’re still working on the issue of items that were cleansed prior to this new system. We’ll update you further on that in the next couple of days.

Confirmed that yes, we have a bug that is interfering on a few realms.

This is not an account or character issue, and we’re planning to do realm restarts overnight to straighten it out.

Please don’t worry- we still have three days until the list changes.

We’ve made some progress on this subject today.

As of this morning, if you get a new Corrupted item and cleanse it, you can re-corrupt it using a Preserved Contaminant from the new system.

Unfortunately, items cleansed prior to maintenance this week remain unwilling to be re-Corrupted.

We’re also working on a hotfix that will add clarity to this, by highlighting Corruptable items in your bags when you activate a Preserved Contaminant. This should be very similar to how scrappable items light up when you use the scrapper.

We’ll let you know when that comes through in our Hotfixes Update post.

I’ve updated the OP in this thread:

Due to a technical limitation, items that were cleansed before this update cannot be re-corrupted. New items can be cleansed after this update and then re-corrupted.

More here.

We’re working on a hotfix that will reduce the damage done by the Gushing Wound Corruption Effect by 35%. We expect to make this change with maintenance in each region next week, starting on May 26.

While we tend to only make changes like this in regular balance patch intervals, Gushing Wound is currently the most efficient of all Corruption Effects. When making changes to Corruption Effects, we previously decided to leave it as-is, because there is only one rank available and Gushing Wound is a rare and relatively difficult Corruption to acquire. However, with this week’s updates that make Corruption Effects available from MOTHER, we expect that stacking large amounts of Gushing Wound will be even more efficient than Infinite Stars, which has explicit downsides when multiple targets are present.

We’ll have the change outlined in our Hotfixes Update soon after it goes live next week.

Just painting this blue.

Don’t forget, the available Preserved Contaminents will change with each Assault, so the current list is time-limited (although they’ll all be back again).

While we work through the final steps of bringing Corruption Effects to MOTHER’s vendor list, we decided to leave the Impressive Influence reputation buff active in all regions.

The buff will now expire on May 21 – Thursday morning PDT.

Enjoy!

All players in this region (Americas and Oceania) should now be seeing Echoes of Ny’alotha dropping at 5x the previous rate, for all characters who have the Legendary cloak, as well as faster steps to Rank up the cloak.

As previously stated, we’re working on bringing the Contaminants items to their vendor (MOTHER), and while we don’t yet have an exact time when that’s going to happen, it could be in the next day or two.

Faster cloak empowerment and the increase in the droprate of Echoes of Ny’alotha are now live in this region.

We’re working on an update to the game that we expect to roll out in the coming week. We plan to make improvements to the process of obtaining Corrupted items on max-level characters and also streamline upgrading the legendary cloak Ashjra’kamas.

Our goal with this update is to speed up the power progression of new level 120 characters, while giving established endgame players more agency in pursuing the Corruption effects they most desire.

More Echoes

In our last update, we added Echoes of Ny’alotha, a new currency available from most Visions of N’Zoth content, which can be used to directly purchase Rank 3 Essences that have already been unlocked on a different character. We plan to expand the availability and purpose of this new currency. Now, once any character completes the legendary cloak questline, they will immediately begin earning Echoes of Ny’alotha from all of the usual sources.

Echoes of Ny’alotha will be much more abundant than before. As we expand the usefulness of Echoes...

At this time, we’re contracting from two layers to one on all realms in this region that were layered.

As we’ve constantly watched and analyzed realm populations over the last few weeks, we’ve seen enough of a recent trend to justify returning to the intended population arrangement for each realm. At the same time, we’ve unlocked any realms that were locked for new character creation.

All Paid Character Transfer restrictions have been left in place. We’re going to continue to use our ability to disable that service as a stopgap, and we’ll let you know when we open or close it further.

We agree that one of the best things about Torghast is that you can play at your own pace, without feeling rushed. We certainly don’t want to make Torghast into a fast-paced, timed game mode. We have instead added Torments, which are designed to provide some additional texture for players at high levels, and to solve a problem that arises when extremely difficult content meets our often cooldown-based class design.

Here’s what Torments should do.

Imagine a perfectly-efficient Torghast group. They are willing to do whatever it takes to climb the tower. At the highest difficulty they can manage, that means waiting for all cooldowns on every pull – unless there’s some reason not to do so. This is our problem: that’s not fun to play, but it’s the right way to play if you want to win.

Torments should apply just enough pressure that this group can still kill every single creature on the floor (which takes a while, since these enemies have lots of HP), while still being careful, using crowd c...

Updated May 13

We have a major update to Torghast in this new Alpha build for testers to experience.

Covenant Abilities

You will now be assigned a Covenant when entering Torghast, including that Covenant’s signature and class abilities.

  • Your test character’s Covenant will change daily, cycling through all four Covenants.
    • Developers’ notes: The goal here is to get a look at some abilities before we’re able to fully test the Covenants/Zones they belong to. Please note that Anima Powers do not yet exist for Venthyr, Necrolord, or Night Fae abilities. Additionally, paladins, rogues, and death knights are not quite ready for Torghast, but they’re coming soon™.

Classes

The following classes now have Anima Powers available to them and can now access Torghast, Tower of the Damned:

  • Hunter
  • Monk
    • Developers’ note: Monks are still missing a few powers, but they can begin testing.

Starting Room of the Damned

The Wayfinder in the starting room has been removed, and “Easy”, “Normal”, and “He...

Yes.

We do not intend to disable the Wargame function in WoW Classic.

We may make some tweaks and adjustments to how it works, of course.
