We have a contract in writing with Jagex about what they can and can't do. Rest assured, they don't want to hinder the site, and we're not prepared to let them.

Agreeing with the above.

This account is very new but I am the new Director of Community at Jagex and our team have been working with the guys closely the last few weeks on signing contracts and getting all of our ducks in a row. In a nutshell, Jayden and the team will be handling all aspects of the Wiki and we are here to support and help the guys deliver a top tier experience.

We're working on this project in partnership with Jagex, so you can expect to see links from the official website and other mediums when we're ready to launch.

Just to follow up on what Jayden has stated, you will all see links in the very near future on our websites supporting the new wiki.

General upkeep shouldn't be too bad. Most of the hard work is already done, we hope. Of course, there's always the possibility of hiccups, which I guess is what letting people access previews of the sites early allows us to prepare for.

In terms of editing - we have a fair few active editors and we can usually update our content within 24 hours or so of an update. We don't expect that to change, if anything it should improve.

Edit: Regarding your edit, that's just Jagex protecting their trademark because of the word "runescape" in the domain. It's a scenario that neither us or Jagex ever expect to happen, but even if it did, it doesn't prevent us from simply moving our content elsewhere.

Again, riding on the coattails of Jayden's previous statement. Jagex do not want, expect or desire any control over the wiki. We have complete faith that the team heading up the new wiki will be experts in their field and deliver a top class experience for players.

My understanding from what I last saw was that he recorded donations and didn't convert it to pounds, and essentially overstated the donation amount on stream/afterwards before being called out.

I'm not necessarily stating that's exactly what happened, just what I saw last after this whole situation. All I care about now is that Macmillan is getting the full donation amount recorded/announced, and that there'll be mitigation to this type of situation in the future. It wasn't handled well at all, and hoping we don't end up here again for any charity streams.

This is a fairly good point and this was one aspect of the communication breakdown between donations, pledges and currency conversion. As one of the people who met and spoke with both Luke and MacMillan, we are confident that there was no ill intent and that the result was one of lack of experience in how to effectively handle charity issues.

Okay thank you. Can I ask what his role is within Jagex?

Also forgive me, but his answer sounds like a cop out. Generic "why focus on the past when we can focus on the future". Surely we can't be expected to believe that?

He is Executive Producer for RuneScape.

I have definitely not played as much RS as I should, however, as a father of a five year old who is also recently relocated from Barcelona - time to play has been a huge factor when setting up a new home, finding schools etc.

When I do game I have to admit that I have played more League (ARAM’s are quick) and Civilization ( since a I can afk and abandon a game for hours at a time)

One of my personal goals for 2919 is to level up and focus on learning RS and OSRS to understand player needs and frustrations in more depth.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone that wished me well, made me laugh, and took the time to DM me with various gracious offers. I appreciate you all keeping me company. Im feeling better thanks to resting up, and I’m still quite amazed that I didn’t break anything (except the drivers windshield, if memory serves). My memory is pretty spotty of the event and the events that followed. I’ve been in touch with family and friends back home and I’m looking forward to sleeping in my bed.

Mod Gambit PMed me early yesterday and we exchanged discord info. We chatted for a bit. Later, Mod Nav wrote me asking me where I was staying. I figured someone was going to drop off merch since Gambit asked me if I preferred OS or RS3. Little did I know that Nav brought a crew along (My Airbnb hosts were quite surprised at what was happening). We all sat in the living room and chatted. Very nice lads and I’m super grateful for their visit alone. They went above and beyond and brought me a bag of merch, offered me iOS beta access, and offered to cover my expenses to Runefest 2019.

Thank you all again for your support, u/dotmatrixman for buying me the shirt that I wanted to ship to me back in the states, and the Jmods for being class acts.

Also, shoutout to socialized healthcare.

E: packing my bag to head back in to London to run an errand, then to the next AirBnB near Gatwick for my flight tomorrow morning. Stay golden, lads.

Such a pleasure meeting you and we are all so glad to see you recovering well. Really looking forward to seeing you at Runefest 2019 <3

Does this mean the 120 farm/herb update has been delayed to Dec 2nd? Otherwise if it’s still the (presumably) last update of November (25th), then everyone will simply wait until it drops to use their DXP hours on the new update.

Farming and Herblore 120 still on track for Nov 25. if that were to change, we would announce it asap.

Oh of course - and the collaborative effort on Warding was a testament to the investment that your team had in trying to bring this skill to OSRS in its best possible form.

That said, how does the result of this poll affect future resource allocation decisions knowing that despite a heavy investment of time, money, and effort on the part of you the developers there would still be a substantial chance that the skill proposal wouldn't pass? That's really the point I was trying to get at in my post.

Great question!

The result of this poll will not change how we approach conversations with players across sensitive subjects. Our aim should always be to involve the community early in discussions about the vision of OSRS as a game, where we want to go in the future and how we retain the integrity of what makes Old School, well, Old School!

Lonely_Beer

Highly doubt they'd give another skill the amount of design treatment and tweaking as Warding again because that's a ton of time, effort, and money to pour into something that still probably won't pass.

One of the great learnings from this process was consistently iterating on player feedback and improving the design over a period of time. Building content with players, especially if that content is causing division within the community, is exactly what we should do.

Seriously thank you guys for the thought-out post on security. It sounds like Jagex is listening and making big steps in the right direction.

Edit: Downvoted for thanking the mods for giving us what we wanted, wild. I hope you all realize any company will take time to fix things....

Thank you. It is a first step of many steps and we will be keeping you guys and girls informed every step of the way.

🦀 NO AUTHENTICATOR DELAY 🦀

I was talking with Player Support about Authenticator Delay this morning. As promised in the Message to our Community blog, we will be bringing you more information on security in general and they are working on the content for that as their second blog, iirc. Expect that to be out sometime in May (dates are subject to change)
