Was it mod Rowley who wrote Juna’s Gift memory? Because that one is my favorite. The first time it’s told, from Juna’s point of view, (I think originally on the website and then in the engram memory), and we see how the only gift she wants from Guthix is for him to stay, which she knows she cannot ask because it would cost Guthix too much. The second time it’s told, from Guthix’s point of view, and he interprets Juna’s Inability to ask for a gift as her wanting him to leave is so tragic. In two tellings of the same story, we get such insight into both characters, and how Juna understood Guthix better then even he did himself.

I hate how Guthix ran from his responsibilities on a personal level, but stories like Juna’s Gift allow me to understand and sympathize with his plight. I don’t think him or his followers poor characters, even if I maintain Guthix is a coward.

I'm honestly not certain exactly who wrote which core memories in the bud. Probably was Mod Rowley, but I can't confirm.

I know Mod Matthew wrote the Guardians of Guthix memory (the memorial engram that looks like Juna).

But I'm less familiar with the development of the Hall of Memories. I was only in one meeting for it in pre-production.

Around 1:27:00 you began to answer questions, not just about the Summer Special (1:28:36), but also on the quests and future content and competitions and such too. I'm really glad you responded and revealed some more about this whole section of content.

I think what I really like is how the memorial to guthix and the hall of memories connect to each other. I think saying the memorial to guthix reflecting guthix positively wasn't the right description I was looking for, more like it reflects his actions as those of a god. Destroying a planet while attempting to kill a creature is obviously a big mistake and not a good thing, but it's on a scale that appears to fit the actions of a very powerful being.

As opposed to this the hall of memories sort of shows the hidden mortal weaknesses that other gods might see as pathetic. Like being too afraid to tell others things that might upset them, being terrified of his own death despite appearing to us to accept initially, and seeing the world guardian as someone to mainly just push his burdens onto.

Do you know if connecting two divination activities together like this was the initial goal or if the hall of memories was only thought of after? They go so well with each other.

It's interesting to see how that's been interpreted. Guthix was exploring the universe, slashing dimensional rifts in reality with the elder sword, and caused permanent damage to the cosmology.

The effects of Guthix's wanderlust linger today. He shattered at least one of the inhabited worlds created by the elder gods, unleashing something terrible from its core.

It was definitely not a case of bravely striving to defeat a great evil and accidentally destroying a planet in the process.

I wish I could say that the two updates were planned as sides to the same coin in an orchestrated update schedule. (Although more of a long-term, holistic view is taken nowadays.)

It was more feeding the beast that seemed to demand more Guthix (despite him being, y'know, dead), and then having to squeeze in another course to meet demand.

I was in an early lore design meeting for this project, and it's really great to see that the story intentions shone through in the final environment.

I alluded to it in some of the memorial engrams, but Guthix definitely made mistakes (blowing up an occupied planet and unleashing a terrible corruption from its prison, anyone?) and had character flaws. It's interesting to see how certain characters are lionised or demonised, regardless of the evidence.

Mod Ryan developed Hall of Memories (he was on an absolute roll that year with this and Deep Sea Fishing and the seeker dungeon back to back, working in concert with Mod Ramen; name a more dynamic duo that look as good in tights).

I believe Mod Rowley wrote most of the lore (and definitely was going for the beats you described), with I think Mod Raven and perhaps Mod MattHe helping out.

(I was working hard on other projects at the time - was it making Fletching F2P or having to hustle out a recreation of Tutorial Island? I forget - ...

Actually Mod Stu said no Summer Special first in yesterday's RS3 Livestream. I don't know why is it a not "huge yikes" and not a "huge yikes specifically for OSRS". My guess is probably RS3 players are not that "yiked" by no Summer Special.

Edit: Mod Poerkie said no Summer Special, to be more precise, not Mod Stu. The context of this discussion remains. There is no "huge yikes for RS3" regarding no Summer Special. It is pretty much like a "shrug for RS3" and nobody even talked about it.

Not even remotely confirmed, I'm afraid. I work in Core Experience, so my services are needed elsewhere. But I couldn't resist the pun.

My proudest contribution to Prifddinas was not, in fact, crystal singing or the agility course. It's the Pit D&D NPC with the fake elf ears. Or as I prefer to call them: the elvish impersonator.

The Ashdale tutorial is removed, but the Ashdale island has been accessible since its release.

You can get to Ashdale by talking to Gudrik the dwarf at Port Sarim docks. You can unlock a lodestone on the island to take you back to Ashdale more easily.

Fishing minnows requires bait, but there's a fisherman near the minnow spots who still provides bait - I think; it's been a while - if you need it.

IIRC minnows are also on crassian drop tables. So I think Ashdale is the only place you can get minnows.

Hey stu, a bit of a digression from tutorial to quest system since you worked on it and frankly I dont know what other media to contact through.

Im currently doing an ironman on strict timeline sorting to see if it is viable and for fun, and I spotted a big issue.

The Eyes of Glouphrie is placed earlier than The Grand Tree, even though it also require the Grand Tree. Could these two quests be switched in timeline?

I sent a bug report, but im not really sure if the report could adequately explain the issue. This is an issue for Nadir saga too, should be after ROTM based on suggested quests

Thanks, I've added a note about Eyes of Glouphrie to the Timeline feedback you previously sent about Nadir, Desert Treasure, Hopespear's Will, etc. I haven't yet had a chance to look at that due to sprint commitments. I'd also like to alphabetise the list of quest sorts if I get a chance - that new Alphabetical at the bottom is triggering me a bit.

Since I have you here, i don't know if it's in your power or not, (or if you have the energy, i'm sorry that you're taking time out of your weekend!) but do you know why certain low level slayer tasks are so much harder now than they used to be?

I suggested my friends to do co-op slayer together to learn combat and they were greeted with a huge wall because Cave Crawlers, a very low level Slayer task, are now over level 50 when they used to only be 21. They retained their fast HP recovery as well, which makes the fight a test of stamina for low levels. Oddly enough, no other slayer creature has a similar level of challenge until Pyre Fiends 20 slayer level later, so it's kind of Jarring.

I looked in possible assignments and found some similar problems. I'm mostly sharing their combat level differences, but with the ones listed come problems like substantially more HP than other possible assignments or hitting harder than a good number of low level assignments

• Flesh Crawlers went from 21 to 39
• Kalphite Workers went from 28 to 58
• Pyre Fiends went from 43 to 61
• Rock Slugs went from 29 to 42
• Dogs, while their weakest possible variant went down from level 61 to 39, are a high level to expect from someone using Turael since dogs don't have a slayer level requirement. They're currently the second most likely to be assigned to someone with only 15hp and strength according to the calculator.

This is a very bad impression for new players because they should be getting tasks appropriate to their combat level and some early tasks are simply too tough because of changes made by EoC. I think it would be worth looking into what the first few slayer masters can assign and make some lower level variants or tweeking how task weight works so that they can't be assigned until a higher combat level.

I'd really appreciate if you could forward this to someone who can look into this if you cannot. In the mean time i'm suggesting some other combat training methods to my friends so they can better handle tasks in the future, so don't worry these noobs are in good hands :)

Yeah, I can relate to that one. I tried to do some co-op Slayer with a friend who wanted to play RuneScape, and she was very frustrated that Turael assigned her ice fiends that were way above her combat level.

Mod Shogun did some investigation a little while ago into smoothing out low level Slayer assignments.

I've forwarded your feedback to him to see if he's taken your points into account.

I think you have a great mind to pick when it comes to tutorials so it made me wonder what went on with this. I'd respond to each point in detail, but Californ1a has summarised the issues quite well. (Plus it's the weekend and I'm trying to not work on the weekends, as denying myself downtime has burned me out in the past.)

I would just like to clarify Californ1a's point, though, that the issue isn't Mobile, but that the New Interface System had a lot of other factors to consider (emphasising dynamic client-side customisation) so isn't designed with tutorialisation in mind - the old interface had static server-side buttons which made guiding you through them simple and feasible, but that's no longer an option. We force interface panels open because it's the only tool we now have in the box.

All the issues you've raised are things that bother me on a personal level, but are either deliberate design decisions out of my hands, or larger systemic issues outside of the scope of tutorialisation. (For example, the ability bar resets are because the fre...

I pitched a similar idea when I volunteered to do streams. Would love to do dev commentaries of quests I've developed, for example, like the Imp Catcher rework.

The tutorial stream went better than I expected, and I'd like to go where you're thinking if there's desire for it!

If you start the vampire plushy hunt miniquest and you walk in areas where one is hidden you hear these creepy voices superimposed over your audiofeed saying things like “your neck is my own personal sippycup”... i forgot that i started that quest and ehen i was playing one night it really startled me when i started hearing voices over the normal music and background audio.

Also if playing as a female avatar, combat hits taken sound like orgasming. “Oohhh aaaaahhh”.

I did the voice-acting for the vampyre plushies. I'm delighted they had the desired effect. Mwa ha ha.

While thematically fitting, they don't really work for a low-level teleport spell. Only law runes and the core 4 elemental runes should be used for teleport spells at that level.

also change south feldip hills to a level 60 teleport, the lowest level non-lodestone teleport shouldn't send you to the other side of the map

Okay, well, bearing in mind that restriction of only using elemental runes, I could reduce the rune quantity to distinguish them.

So Taverley Teleport would require:

1 air 1 fire 1 law

1 earth 1 water 1 law.

Any objections to that? Any known conflicts?

Stu teleports ARNT using exact combinations. Sure there are some which use the same rune types, but in different proportions. For instance the lumby and house spells use law earth and air, but the lumby spell uses 3 air while house only uses 1, thats the difference. You just straight up repeated the varrock spell and thats an issue

Besides convention or not i dont believe fire is indicative of taverly at all. The spell needs changing, and i'll still say 1 law, 1 nature and maybe 1 air will be the most representative of the location. Lets be frank here, runes are NOT that hard to come by anymore nor really cost anything, even for noobs. And likewise, it doesnt matter anyway since theres a free teleport just 5 seconds away which makes this spell redundant anyway. Even the news post said this is really only for clue hunters (again as one i say this isnt needed at all) and any respectable clue hunter will be getting 1000's of natures from clues anyway

Okay, sure, I'm open to changing the rune requirements. Distinctly different runes will also help with distinguishing the spells until unique icons are available.

1 air 1 nature 1 law for the Taverley Teleport it is, then, unless there's a consensus otherwise. When you come to an agreement, I'll write myself a JIRA.
