As some of you have already identified, this is in fact a bug with a mismatch in game languages. To work around it for now while we fix the bug, please set your game spoken and text languages to the same language. You can do that by:
- Opening the
Battle.net Application
- Clicking
Options
above the news widget and selectingGame Settings
- Under
Overwatch
set theText Language
andSpoken Language
dropdowns to the same language.

We were able to patch the issue causing crashes with Hammond a few hours ago. With the new patch, Hammond is being reintroduced to the game. Because of the way content distribution works on consoles, some players will be prompted for this patch earlier than others.
We recommend updating the game as soon as possible to pick up the patch. If you have not gotten the patch yet for your console, we recommend against playing games which allow Hammond, especially competitive matches or those which may result in penalties.
Once you get the patch, Hammond should be re enabled for you, and any associated crashes should stop.

Read moreWe didn’t change anything on our end. Judging from the earlier winMTRs it looked like there was a problem in your area, but it may be resolved now. If the problem comes back, please provide this information.
Thus far almost every test we have on this thread so far appears to have massive packet loss issues either at the router itself or between the router and ISP. There may be some kind of problem with the router you have been issued or the infrastructure near your house. Can the rest of you who are having issues please ensure you are running winMTRs for 5-10 minutes and posting the results? We need more tests to see if we can identify a common theme for the problem.
I’d also like to see if you can connect to another region. Before clicking “Play” on battle.net, change the “Region” drop down to another region. Are you able to connect to any other game regions aside of your normal region? (I assume you normally play in EU?)
Read moreTo add on to what bruce says, I see two such programs in the crash you posted. One is Discord Overlay. Try disabling that in your discord app>overlay settings. The other is Razer Chroma which is known to cause some conflicts if it’s out of date or updated incorrectly. If just getting rid of discord overlay doesn’t fix it up, follow the steps here.
