Yeah, I know this feeling - I personally would also really like to open the server, but unfortunately there were further problems with the patch and our programmers are busy fixing it. I hope very much that I have better news tomorrow morning.

We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Thursday, April 2nd, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time)!

What exactly is being tested?

New Avatar model

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

  • Change the server from Tranquility to Singularity in the bottom right corner of the launcher and log in as normal.
  • More detailed instructions are available here.

Test steps:
Please join the channels MassTesting (for instructions), MassQuestions (for feedback)

  • An Avatar should be in your redeem queue
  • You can get skills for your Avatar with the command /givetesteventskills

Test steps:

  1. We will start in FD-MLJ, at the station - [FD-MLJ VII - Moon 2 - Intaki Bank Depository].
  2. Warp to planet 1
  3. Warp to the gate to X-BV98
  4. Fleet W: Jump to X-BV98
  5. Fleet X: Jump to X-BV98 + fight at the gate

What else should I know?

  • Use the command /moveme to be moved to the start system FD-MLJ
  • 2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test

Please use TQ, the real server, while Singularity is not available :slight_smile: - and Singularity will return pretty soon- very likely even with a new mirror.

We have several internal test servers, but they are unfortunately not as well setup as Singularity - they are simply too slow. Btw, regarding Duality: We will very likely remove Duality as public test server for the time being (as it was not open to the public since last September) and re-use its hardware for one of our internal test servers, so that we do not have to do all internal tests on Singularity.

Just a quick info, that Singularity will be in VIP mode for a few days for internal testing. It will reopen, once the next release is ready for testing, probably in a few days.

Just for the record: Perimeter was NOT on a reinforced node today, it shared a node with 2 other systems. Unfortunately nobody found it worth to send a request.

PLEASE: Send reinforcement requests ~24h earlier, if you expect a huge fight. We in CCP do not know in most cases, when you are planning a big fight. We really need your help for this! Thanks! :)

With our current setup this is not possible due to several reasons (but this does not mean, that it is a bad idea and not worth to investigate further). In our past attempts to use virtualization we ended up with a quite reduced performance, so we are currently not using virtualization to run the game servers of Tranquility. The main benefit of a reinforcement request is also to separate the fight system from other systems on the same node (which share some resources together). This is easy during downtime, but with our current code later only possible by disconnecting all players in this system. Which resources are drained during a big fight: CPU of a single core and maybe memory bandwidth (not so sure about this one).

Yeah, this is indeed difficult to answer. If you know the system, where the fight would be, and you made already preparations for the fight, then it is probably worth to send a request, even if the other side does not show up. But yeah, sending too many requests could again lead to worse performance, if we are running out of dedicated nodes (although in some cases we can avoid this with manual intervention).

Oh, I handled this bug report - I attached it to our internal ticket for this problem. As mentioned by others, we are normally not responding personally, if we don't need further information and we don't need to give you any extra information, like some kind of workaround.

Hi, we are aware and are monitoring. It seems like an unrelated DB performance problem is slowing down the market for The Forge.

As far as I could see: either not at all or only to a small amount.

The situation seems to be much more stable again since about 19:00 EVE-time (the problems started with DT at 11:00 and got bad at ~12:00).
