Tranquility shut down unexpectedly due to a database issue around 06:08 - resulting in all nodes going offline.

We are currently working to restore the cluster and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Update 06:40: Tranquility has been restored and should once again be open and accepting connections. Thank you for your patience with this issue.

As some of you may know, I sometimes make simple MS Paint diagrams to teach mechanics and tactics. With the recent addition of fleet formations I have more fodder for my educational ‘art’ skills.

Here’s a look at the ‘basic’ fleet formations and the utility they may offer.

And here’s a description of what I expect to see alliances set up in their systems soon for home defense fleets (can also be pretty easily created anywhere if you just have about 30 seconds of setup time).

It’s still early in the theorycrafting days for this so I fully expect to see clever and unexpected tactics emerge yet for me to make new ms paint drawings of.

I don’t think there’s all that much to worry about, but the concern (for the game at least :stuck_out_tongue: ) is appreciated.

Even if we did have to evacuate, this last year of heavy work-from-home has us well and prepared to keep working from our personal computers in the back of a van as we drive away from a slowly encroaching lava flow.

That said, this particular eruption isn’t expected to impact us.

Hey there, this isn’t a new rule - looks like it’s a default setting which has never been changed. I’ve bumped the number up a bit so hopefully it gets in the way less often, but I can’t remove it completely.

May roll that into a “hunting” class - would make a good next one :slight_smile:

Been caught up on trying to make wormholes an interesting class but there was just so much info and I am afraid it would be dry. For streams I really need some things that hook even the veterans which they might find interesting.

We are aware of an issue with capital ships wherein a ship that attempts to jump to a cyno will use capacitor and local will update but the ship does not appropriately change location.

A fix is being readied - please be aware that applying the fix for this issue will likely require an emergency restart of Tranquility. We will provide notice before the restart occurs.

More details will be given here and on the official EVE Status twitter account as they become available.

Update 12:44 GMT: A hotfix has been developed which will not require a restart of Tranquility to be deployed. We will keep you updated on when the fix is ready to go live.

Update 13:38 GMT: Hotfix build is nearly completed and should be ready to deploy around 14:15.

Update 14:03 GMT: Hotfix has been deployed. Please close out and restart your launcher and clients to receive the fix.

We are aware of an issue with the most recent release which is preventing players from being able to bookmark objects in space (such as wormholes). A fix is currently being prepared and we will give you further updates on this issue as the information becomes available.

Update 13:19: A client hotfix for this issue has been developed and is being prepared for deployment. We will let you know once this hotfix is going live.

Update 14:09: A hotfix for this issue has been deployed. Shut down and restart your clients and launcher to receive the fix.

Tranquility experienced a mass disconnection around 6:08 eve time. We’re actively investigating the cause of the issue - which appears to be an error with a routine server backup that was scheduled at the time.

Servers have since fully recovered and tranquility is open and operating at full capacity.

We will be actively monitoring the servers up through next downtime.

I have returned from my quest victorious with information!

My earlier statement was in error - while I was unaware of the change, this was because it wasn’t something that was intended for our usual communication channels (yet), but it was intended to go live.

This is part of an A/B test we’re conducting with the character creator. We didn’t announce it or publish anything in the patch notes since for this type of testing we run the risk of corrupted results if curious veteran players start rolling new characters just to check out the feature.

We routinely conduct A/B testing in this way and it usually goes unnoticed but this obviously touches on a particularly significant system and has caught everyone’s attention anyway.

Wow this thread went places in a day.

It looks like this wasn’t something that was intended to go live at all - seems it was something in-development that accidentally slipped into the live build from what I’m hearing. I’ve flagged this to the teams internally that this went live and it’s being looked into now. Will update you on what comes out of that.

ESI was disabled with the issue Zhalyd linked, so that’s probably the cause. It should be re-enabled today if all goes well.

The rollback just refers to the game build, you will not have lost any progress. The only things being reverted are the griffin navy defect fix and the tax haven event updates that went in today (along with some back end changes).

We gave it a 30 minute timer so people could get safe before things go offline - hopefully won’t be down too long as we revert (may take 15 minutes).

Trust me, we don’t want to have to shut it down any more than you guys :cold_sweat:
