damn that's crazy

Altombre

People at Riot have wanted to make an MMO for ages. I’m sure Blau was one of them (alongside myself) but I’m pretty sure other people like Greg Street had probably thought of the idea before too lmao

Coleman, I helped pitch the mmo

love y’all, I’ll come around to shitpost and maybe post some data analysis from time to time (hey using external data sources this time)

oh and sorry (not sorry) about the yasuo games over the years

FINALLY I SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE R&D DUNGEON

These are dope. Hope she (the LoL dev team) sees this bro

One Question u/Blaustoise.

At the beginning of the year you announced to make alot of skins for champs which have a smaller fanbase, how did it work out for riot in the end?

Was ist a success?

In my opinion the sheer bandwidth of champs and skins was just amazing :)

Edit: and ofc I highly hope you voted for your favorite skins too ;D

I have no idea they locked me in the R&D dungeon please help me

It's really fun to hear this from a rioter as this is true from my experience.

Mecha kingdoms Jax on the enemy team? I sleep. Angler/Mighty/Pax Jax. REAL SHIT.

EXACTLY

Fun data fact: the highest winrate skins tend to be the more obscure, often older skins that "true mains" use.

  • For example, Yasuo's highest winrate skin is High Noon, specifically some of the chromas for it.
  • This is the result of selection bias, where "mains" of a champion tend to be the only ones using the older, more obscure skins
  • Some of the more expensive skins (legendary skins often) have lower winrates
  • This is from less experienced players trying the flashy and expensive skins, especially when they come out, and tanking the winrate

Or it's not selection bias, and League of Legends is both pay-to-win AND pay-to-lose if you pay too much, so you have to find the goldilocks pay-to-win zone

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

btw, skin winrates differences are reaaaally small.

on a serious note, I hear you can be really successful in League without ever using a skin. Some Korean dude got pretty far without them.

However the capitalist in me also wants you to CONSUME

I play with them every now and then actually!

Actually Douyin (the original/chinese version of tiktok) launched in 2016

Then Tiktok (the international version) launch in 2017, and acquired Musical.ly in late 2017.

It was pretty big in late 2018, I don't think people realize how big it was/has gotten.

  • Reddit MAU = 330m
  • Twitter MAU = 330m
  • Twitch MAU = 140m
  • Titkok MAU = 850m
  • (and remember, that's not including Douyin, which has an INSANE 600m DAILY active users)

I wouldn't be unreal that if you consider both Tiktok and Douyin as the same app/platform, they have more global MAU than Reddit, Twitter, and Twitch combined.
