It's not just you, but we've not found the correlation yet between players who experience this. Usually it's because of a 4k resolution and multimonitor set up combined, but not always. Just a heads up, you now have to tab 9 times in the BETA launcher to reach the play button as we added a new button.

The whole game has been remastered, so whilst you do have a lot of the content in your default game, it's not packaged the same way for the Beta, and as such, would be replaced and re-downloaded entirely if you copied it across. TL:DR nope, it's a whole brand new download that cannot be skipped using the default game data.

Strange. The launcher sounds like it's opening "off screen" so to speak, which can happen with some 4k set ups, so that it happens on your set up is perplexing :3

When the launcher opens, but you cannot see it, make sure you have it selected in your task bar and hit tab 8 times, then hit enter. This might work - testing the hypothesis on my PC seems to yield results. Are you running in 4K?

Fairly big when space is a concern, i had to uninstall the base game to have more room for it.

The process of updating the main game with a beta would have resulted in the same thing, but this way for people with lots of space, they can use the live game and the beta. Read more
