Hey everyone! It's been a bit since our last Director's Take. We’ve missed a few of these in recent months. Sorry for the gap, speaking to all of you will continue to be a priority for the team.
Let's talk about tanks. Let me rephrase that… a lot of you are talking about tanks, I'd like to contribute from a developer point of view.
We've heard from players that the tank role is in a tough spot right now and has been since Season 8 ended. We agree. That's not to say that tanks were in a perfect spot before Season 9, but the problem now is that most of them just don't feel as 'tanky' as they should. Many times, both Support heroes need to focus solely on the tank just to keep them alive. In this scenario both the Tank and Supports can feel like they have limited options in their gameplay, as they are essentially tied to each other.
Our internal stats show this as well. We've come up with a new metric since Season 9 that we simply call "tankiness." It's roughly the number of deaths a...
Read moreHey everyone,
We are now seeing most players have now received their Pink Mercy and Rose Gold Mercy content, however we are still tracking a few that may still be waiting on theirs. We are still investigating on this. In the meantime, these general tips may help.
- Play one full game of Overwatch, then restart the game client and recheck the hero gallery.
- Fully sign out of the BattleNet launcher and sign back in.
- If you play on Xbox or PlayStation consoles, fully close the Overwatch 2 app and fully shut down your console (don’t just put into sleep mode). Once fully shut down, unplug the console from electrical power and wait 30 seconds, then plug back in and reboot. This will do a full account refresh for your console. For Nintendo Switch, just fully shut down your console and reboot.
- If you make the purchase directly on shop.battle.net, check your transactions on your account at account.battle.net/transactions to ensure you did purchase your desired product. If it shows, do not attempt...
Hey everyone, I will keep an eye for updates, but chances are any purchases made may take a few minutes to arrive in your Hero Gallery. Thanks for your support!
Hello again heroes,
We have fixed the issue with our Season 11 voice lines and can now be equipped and used again. Thanks for your patience.
Hello Heroes,
We’ve recently encountered an issue where new voice lines introduced in the current patch were not working correctly, causing them to be heard through an entire map regardless of proximity to other players. Because this causes a significant disruption in game play, we are disabling these voice lines until we can correct the issue in a future update.
Because the Season 11 voice lines have been disabled, they have been removed from your equipped voice lines if you previously equipped them. You will be able to equip any other voice line released prior to the Season 11 patch as those are working correctly.
These Season 11 voice lines will also temporarily no longer appear in the Season 11 Battle Pass track or in the list of voice lines in the Hero Gallery.
Tiers where there is a voice line that is earned will not show any...

Read morewhile we're on the topic of wide/close matches - how is the team feeling on the MMR range that makes a group qualify as wide or normal?
There's been a few situations where i play with friends i always played with, and we feel like we are similarly skilled, but we have to basically forgo climbing together cos we're apparently a wide group.
That's part of what Morgan is saying in this video - we're allowing wider duos to be considered Narrow. If you're not a duo though, the amount of rank you gain or lose is based on actual width though (not just being flagged as Narrow or Wide), so if you're just barely outside the Narrow bracket then the amount your rank changes with wins or losses will be very close to normal. You could still climb (or fall...) now.
