MageQuit Dev Tracker

Hi!
Here's some info from when Breet (one of the devs) was asked about modding:
"I've looked into it, but mod support is something that a game should really be designed around from the beginning as it's very involved and deeply integrated with the game itself. So unfortunately, since this game actually launched on Steam (Early Access) 7 years ago today, and I'm the only programmer, it would be very difficult to add retroactively."
There is someone working on getting another patch out with a few balance and QOL changes, but nothing major for now while the devs work on their next game.

Hello!
I know that on steam link all controllers will stop working if you disable XInput, however, this shouldn't affect your game when you aren't using steam link. That said, I actually noticed the same issue you described happening to me too in the currently available build of the game, but also thought it might be a one-off. The version I'm running with locally (a version that will be released this week) does NOT have this issue since it has a newer version of the controller library we use, so hopefully this will be resolved for you as well!

I'd certainly be willing to put it to a vote with the community to see what people think in general. The upside of not doing the 2-round snake draft is that it simplifies the first round which is important for new players. It could potentially be added as an "unlock" sort of like the elements are unlocked the first few times you play online.
Hey!
Definitely agree that it feels very bad to be last pick for primary just due to RNG.
To counter this, we added a competitive preset (which you can use in party only games and will be the preset for ranked 3s and tournaments). This preset uses what is called "2-round snake" for the spell selection mode, which means that after everyone picks their primary spell, it reverses the pick order and you then draft your movement spell. Since one of MageQuit's strong points is replayability through draft scarcity, we felt this was a better solution than just letting people pick whatever they wanted for the first round. For quick play games we left the formula alone since it's meant to be more of a "for fun" mode.
Hope that helps!

Hi Bipolar Bob,
I'm sorry to hear that the game is giving you issues. Are you referring to being stuck in the tutorial, practice range, couch mode or online? The magequit database shows that you've successfully completed an online game, winning with 15 kills, so maybe you figured it out?

Hey YelloFattyBean!
We started doing custom colors as part of a streamer program we were running for a while (I believe the team you played was Shaun's team; he was one of our first community rivals streamers). More recently though, people have been PayPal'ing me to manually give them these custom colors. Going rate is $15. If that's something that interests you, feel free to DM my via Discord (join https://discord.gg/magequit -- I'm Brett in there).
More information about custom teams:
- They are assigned to a specific player.
- If more than one player on the same team has a custom team, it'll use the name/colors of the first player to join the party.
- Custom team name consists of 2 colors and a name
-- gem/glowing/healthbar color
-- robe color
-- team name
Thanks for playing!

Hi Ullebadulle,
Thank you for the post! Glad to hear you love the game, and sorry to hear that it's been a bit too chaotic for you recently -- it sounds like what you are referring to is the mid-game join system that will retroactively add players after a match starts to lower queuing times.
One idea we've been throwing around is scaling stages based on how many players are in the match, and focus on making the stages shrink as players die off. That would have a similar effect to "nerfing all push/pull stuff" without changing the spell metas. Does that seem like it would alleviate what you're experiencing?
Thanks!
Brett

That's the electric melee that charges up when you walk around. Literally the only spell that requires logic outside of the spell cast itself. That piece runs when the round starts and it was broken which is why it was a round 3 thing, and only if static was drafted. All fixed now though!
Alright got a new patch out -- fix is confirmed. It was an issue with the Static melee. All good now. Thanks for letting me know!
I've rolled back the patch for now -- if you restart steam, you should be back on the old version without this issue
When you say recently -- do you mean it started in the last 12 hours? I just put out a patch last night
Glad you're enjoying it! And I've heard this same thing from a few others as well. Seems too specific to be a coincidence but I'm not sure what would cause it lol. Hope you don't mind being red 😜
Awesome! Thanks again for letting me know and best of luck in the spring circuit :D
Okay, all fixed! You may need to restart Steam to ensure you have the latest version. Please let me know if that works for you!
What was wrong is the Tutorial was hardcoded to just using whatever controller was assigned to the first player. The issue is that occasionally the controller you want to use is not tied to the first player. Now MageQuit automatically detects the active controller based on input and will even switch off mouse and keyboard controls to controller if you clicked tutorial instead of using A. Basically, it's bulletproof now!
Thanks for letting me know of your issue :)
Also, not gonna lie, I'm having some serious controller-envy right now haha.

Okay, I definitely know what's wrong -- I will fix and patch it tonight!
Hi @Keegabyte! Is this just for the tutorial that it doesn't work? I think I may know what's wrong.
Wow, thank you for the insight, AllegedBanana! That is very helpful :)
Azure support got back to me and it sounds in line with what you are saying regarding ICMP.
There is a tool called PsPing that can circumvent that.
ScienceDiscoverer, the first thing Azure support requested was for you to try using PsPing to reach the MageQuit matchmaking server. Would you be willing to try this?
There are instructions for it here: http://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/PsPing
After installing that you would run "psping 40.121.22.148:8081"
From Azure support: Successful pspings from a source that can't access the matchmaking would tell us there's something happening above layer 4, and the Azure platform is ok.
Thanks again for your patience!

Alright! I have successfully opened a technical ticket with Azure Support. Now we wait...
That's my hope! I really appreciate your patience on this. How about if the fix takes longer than 2 weeks, you can refund it and I'll give you a key for your trouble :)
Currently I have a billing ticket open with Azure because I am unable up create a technical ticket even though they definitely billed me for it LOL. I will try again in the morning.
We'll get to the bottom of it!
Okay, this IS interesting. It appears to be an issue on the Azure side then, because clearly your request is reaching their servers. I'm attempting to pay them for technical support but it saying it's currently unavailable. I will keep trying and we will figure this out!!
