v11.20 includes enhancements to the Battle Royale experience:

• Daily Challenges are back and can be completed for XP!
  • Up to three at a time are available, and once a day you can replace a Challenge for another.
• In the Locker, you can now filter your items by the Season they were introduced in.
  • To filter your items by Season, enter the Season name in the search bar. Use terms like “season 5,” “season x,” “chapter 2 season 1,” etc.
• You can now adjust the UI contrast.
  • To adjust the UI contrast, use the User Interface Contrast setting in the Graphics section of the Video settings.

Timed Objective

It’s a race against time as players fight a tug-of-war over a ticking clock. This new objective device opens up a whole host of possibilities for new game modes and nail-biting gameplay.

Map Indicator

Now you can really make your mark - and what’s more, you can give it a name!  Use the Map Indicator device to place and name your own POIs (Points of Interest) on your islands (alliteration is optional).

Damage Amplifier (UDamage)

In honor of Unreal Tournament’s 20th anniversary, we’re adding the UDamage power-up from UT into Creative! Players will notice when another player has the UDamage equipped, but by then it may be too late for them.

As technology evolves, so does Fortnite!

The PC version of Fortnite currently requires a graphics card capable of running Microsoft DirectX 11. In v11.20, however, you’ll have the added option to play the PC version using Microsoft DirectX 12! By using DX12, PC players with high-end GPUs may experience a higher and steadier frame rate. This is because DX12 delivers better CPU performance and allows for the distribution of rendering jobs across multiple cores. In the future, we plan on adding features to Fortnite that are made possible by DX12. Allowing players to opt into DX12 before these features are added will give us valuable information in our development efforts and help us shake out any bugs.  If you’re interested in helping us test DX12, please jump in and give the new option a spin.  Thank you for your continued support! Creative Builders,

Introducing #FrostyFortnite, an open call to all creators for winter-themed games, art, and videos. This is a great opportunity for your content to get featured in-game and on the @FNCreate twitter account! The #FortniteFright open call was a big hit, and we are excited to see all your #FrostyFortnite creations. This campaign will run through the end of the year and into January.  Next patch we’ll release the Snowman set. It includes two pre-built snowmen along with pieces to build your own. Be sure to include these in your upcoming creations, we’re keeping a special eye out for these props.

We’re looking to feature some of the best #FrostyFortnite creations in December and January. For a chance to be featured in-game, submit your island via the official form by December 8th. This week, we chat with none other than Manchester’s very own Axel Capek, an old-school FFA fan and the creator of the wonderful race game, “Fury Racing - Durrr’s Haunted Circuit”.  The Fortnite Team: Who is your favorite creator and why? Axel Capek: My favourite creator is BluDrive. His creations are usually well designed and balanced, the kind of levels I enjoy playing.

AC: Playing with friends! I have the chance to play test maps every Saturday with a group of other talented creators.
 
FT: What made you decide to jump into Creative Mode?
 
AC: I've always been a creative person. I've been modding and mapping in games such as Unreal Tournament, Half-Life and other Source engine games such as Left 4 Dead since I was 15. I'm 32 now so a long time!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for joining us last week on Thursday for the Fortnite Creative AMA on Reddit. We enjoyed fielding the community's burning questions and giving some insight into Creative's future. If you weren’t able to join us, we’ve got a full recap of all the questions and answers below.

When will we get fishing rods / motorboats in creative?
A: They are on the list to be added as soon as we can get water working in the way we feel works for creative. We’re not sure on the exact timing yet.

Are there any plans for prop merging?
A: We’re talking about solutions to allow creators to create their own prefabs, setting up the quickbar to save between sessions is the first step towards this work. Longer term, we’re hoping to find ways to optimize prefabs for memory and rendering speed.

Will there ever be a feature where you can choose a skin in your locker and apply it to a team? Or maybe even just like effects such as glows or something to distinguish players in an infection game...

Fortnite Team: What is your favorite Creative Mode creation?

MackJackTwitch: My favorite would have to be the map I just completed with my building partner Ritual. It's a Halloween mini game called Bobbing for Apples. I am so in love with every part of it.

FT: Could you explain your creative process?  

MJ: My process is writing out an idea and then journaling all my thoughts and ideas for the map,  getting concept art, and if working with a teammate, talking through with them. I then start building, figuring out different game mechanics and making the map look aesthetically pleasing.
