Please fix this...

Are you running on the latest version? 218.24?
Just posted another update to the save change. Technically you could still go with your existing savefile, but it may require some admin intervention if you would like things to function how they did. We've updated the OP to reflect this.
Additional Update: We have managed to make already existing savefiles load with this change, however, you will be forced to create a new character and make a new company. Force-joining into the old company will not work. However, you can then reclaim all your structures, ships, and creatures again with the use of admin commands such as:
- cheat takeallstructure
This will transfer all the structures, boats, and claimflags of the previous company, to your own.
- cheat takealldino
This will transfer all the creatures of the previous company, to your own.
- cheat giveallstructure
This will transfer the structure you’re looking at, as well as anything snapped to it, to you.
- cheat givetome
This will transfer the individual object you’re looking at, to you (works with creatures too).

Could you guys show me a copy of your most recent callstacks? You can find them this folder:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ATLAS\ShooterGame\Saved\Logs
They'll be saved as the .crashstack file and you can open them in notepad, feel free to paste the contents into a www.pastebin.com and share that link back here.
In the Single Player / Host menu, to the right-hand side of the 'ATLAS' title, you'll see a button to delete the save file.

(Tether mode is coming for the full map, beta by midweek is our goal).
If the structure has been placed and painted, just have soap in your inventory, access the painted structure's pinwheel (hold E), and you'll see the option to remove paint.
For the most part, we'll do our best to keep the save game always compatible with the next update. It's only in the event of something critical/unavoidable that it may not be, but typically through major and minor updates, it will.
It's a bug our team are aware of at the moment and we'll have it fixed up in an upcoming patch.
Freeports (the starter island you're on) will only provide the base materials, to get the other ones, you'll have to sail out of the grid and explore new islands.
There are some bugs that will need some fixing, thanks for the info guys, we'll check it out.

Correct
Originally posted by Boomer: that what we got with that 5Gb patch? haven't seen any patch notes yet

- Fixed a bug which would cause players to be stuck when unmounting creatures
- Cleared up the pinwheel text on Claim Flags, so they now indicate what it'll be changed to.
- Fixed invalid discovery points value on server
- Fixed a client side crash
- Single Player Beta Mode
Note: Whilst not a formal system, Singleplayer users can play on any world json they want, by just replacing these files:
\ShooterGame\ServerGrid.json
\ShooterGame\ServerGrid\ (the map images)
When doing so, please back up your SavedAtlasLocal folder, and then delete your save data using the in-game save delete button.
- Claim Flags now have a toggleable setting in Settlements mode which allows Settlement owners to choose whether to pay and feed the NPC Cre...

You can use this cheat command in the console:
cheat giveFOW
Nope, you'll just have to sail out of the freeport to advance - though we should consider removing that particular rule for the SP experience.
Nah you can opt-out, we'll be using it again later.
Could I get a full copy of your crash. You can paste it on https://pastebin.com/
Aye, we should have a clearer way to indicate that the decay is much higher on Freeports. Will see if we can edit the Level 8 text in an upcoming update to include the info.
