It is literally the same engine, you just added some more ue blueprint systems like the water.

You still haven't learned that lies suck .

The engines have a lot of custom source code and are quite a bit different, from each other and from stock UE4. Also if you think the ocean water system is ue blueprints I have a bridge to sell you.

I think you're missing the point here, Jesse. Trust is like a currency and because of the actions in the past by WC and now Grapeshot, you're flat broke. You'll need to build some trust if you want to come in here, say shit that seems unlikely, and have people just take you at your word.

There is no reason it won't happen, and we demoed it on the stream live today (so I'm not just "saying" it). We designed the ATLAS engine for crossplay between all platforms. ARK engine is not.

Also there will be no Win10 version of ATLAS at launch, only Steam and Xbox playing together. So... There you have it!

BasharAlAspaci

Yeah it'll work just like Ark where if you want crossplay you have to purchase it on the Microsoft store. Atlas will not cross play via Steam.

You will not have to buy it again and Microsoft is fine with Steam cross play. It will just work. :)

Let me repeat that for you.

BasharAlAspaci

Yeah im interested to see how the cross platform works because steam doesn't cross games with Xbox because of Microsoft. Might have to buy the game again just to play cross platform.

You will not have to buy it again and Microsoft is fine with Steam cross play. It will just work. :)

How about they make the game prioritize pirate fun shenanigans instead of grindy anti fun mechanics. There is a reason the trailer got so much hype, make all that stuff shown there easy to experience. There are ways to add some grind without it effecting every aspect of the game.

That was literally the entire point of the information in the live stream. :)

If we had access to the model, we could just use Substance Painter or something to make it look all nice. The tool in game is quite similar, but the controls are godawful.

The character models are available in the devkit source art, which is available from the Source Art link on this page:

There are also a variety of tutorials on creating armor skins as mod content.

Haha awesome! Very creative. :)

Although there is no formal pre-download, participating in the PTR should drastically reduce your download size if you switch back your Steam branch after the final patch drops. Who knows, the final release patch may actually be deployed byte-for-byte on PTR before being promoted to the main branch! So... Join the PTR :)

It's something we recognize and are going to be working towards it in the months ahead. Content patches are usually planned quite a while in advance, and instead of having the team stop working on the large February update, we made some slight adjustments and plan to release it accordingly.

Following that will begin most of our design rework. We spoke about this in an announcement post previously, some of the things we'd like to address:

  • Making sure that solo players and smaller groups feel safer when logging off, or that after they’ve taken a break they can come back and know that it won’t be such a difficult feat to get out on the seas again.
  • Allowing players to experience the ‘piracy’ side of the game immediately, whilst not trivializing the content.
  • Incentivize companies to neutralize their territories, inviting others to make use of their land so that both can benefit.
  • More MMO aspects: player markets, player-specified automatic trade routes, additional quests, and daily missions
  • Continuous focus on bug/exploit squashing, stability, and performance.
  • Relevant QOL and Content additions to meet game and community needs

This isn't everything that we'd like to do, there will be more and we are open to making some pretty big overall design changes, it's just not something that can occur overnight.

What Jat said!

I get your point though. You can equip up to 6 pistols and only 1 carbine. You shouldn't have to equip 6 pistols though, so I get it man.

Will they have more hp matching the hight? Like a half wall has only half the hp? Otherwise those walls will be useless on pvp and ppl will still use gates. Edit for typo

Not sure yet about the exact numbers but I personally think it would be silly to make it less appealing than a same-size wall made of 1x1's.

Yes we are going to make a wall about the size of the current Small Gate!

I don't like the idea of having to mate and raise a child. Should be optional to do that or die and have a stat boost instead.

It is optional, if you want the stat boost (get something for your efforts). Otherwise find a fountain of youth to reset your age without the boost.

Not sure. I am using the 15x15 map that is included with the island editor and have changed zero settings anywhere. So is it just bug with private servers?

I will happily provide anything that could help figure it out.

Also in this video I am going north and in the first test I was headed east, so I guess technically the only wind change is direction.

I'm not entirely sure, I don't personally know much about running private servers atm. The best test would be to do this on Official, I'm sure there would be some takers... I'm curious myself since boat speeds have been increased so much since launch.

Atlas dosent support DX10 and SM4, Ark didnt at the start either i tried meddling with the files using the ark fixes to see if it was possible but i wasnt able to get into a server without Shooter Game shadow crash errors

From what i can tell on the steam forums they dont have any immediate plans to add support either

Correct, ATLAS engine does a lot of things that are not compatible with SM4, including many things related to the water itself...

I'm not sure what's up with your server settings or game instance but the wind in your test is clearly max wind in one direction and never changes. This does not happen on Official, and max wind speed is not that common...

Well, not really for science. I have a full map private server that I was having issues with on some server transfers, so after changing up ports and such I decided to go on a larger adventure while the map was empty to make sure everything was working. I also wanted to see how long it would take to do with all the factors such as the tornado things, ships of the damned, me avoiding islands, and of course no lag and rubberbanding that you get on official.

Anyways, 2 hours and 20 minutes later, my journey was complete. the shortest it took me to cross a server was 6 minutes and 42 seconds and the longest was 12 minutes 38 seconds.

Not quite sure where the whole "30 hours to cross" thing the devs were stating before release came from. The only sailing speed increase was a couple patches ago and that was what? 15%? So even 15% less speed would have made this no where near that 30 hour mark.

Another thing, if you see my health and food stats in the bottom, I didn't eat or drink during the journey and never died. My health never went down. Only the vitamins went down, but only to a certain point and then it stopped. Does the captain's food and water not go down while sailing?

EDIT:

Here is the follow up post with video evidence: https://www.reddit.com/r/playatlas/comments/adrvxj/for_those_who_didnt_believe_my_sail_across_the/

Posted a reply below, but "cheat" ships by default ignore wind direction (always travel at max speed for current wind) and do not require any crew to man the sails. You can tell if your current ship is ignoring wind if you see a yellow "W" with a line through it on the HUD:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Cykvxui47xgV3QQYFyAbP0zrBtgVFBgZ/view?usp=sharing

Otherwise you will see this:

If you would like to disable this after you spawn in a cheat ship, type "cheat SetIgnoreWind false". Looking forward to another test! :)

hmm, that'll be a good test to run. Not sure what sails I was using, I'll look into it when I get a chance. All I did was load into the server and then run the "cheat ssf galleon" command and used that boat with whatever it came with.

FYI / PSA: "cheat" ships ignore wind and always travel at maximum speed.

I had them on medium, I have it on low now. Hopefully that fixes it. As each person upgrades to a RTX card sooner or later this problem is going to need to be fixed since the numbers for the issue will be increasing exponentially.

Thanks lemme know how it goes!

ozeor

It happens in Ark as well, and yes I set the shadows to low and that works. But Atlas I can't seem to find the issue. I'm running the latest drivers and this is a brand new build. My 1080ti builld had 0 issues.

So the terrain shadows to Low does not work in ATLAS?
