You absolutely can roll back a 60GB update, but you have to do it the day it happens. People were already complaining about the framerate within an hour of the patch dropping. H3 / H2A are still randomly unplayable and it's been almost 4 weeks now.

Unf there was just too much intertwined in that update and a real need to get the titleIDs and back-end re-aligned between Xbox and PC. Definitely not ideal by any means. My understanding currently is that the root cause has been tough to pin down - the team is still investigating. Hopefully people can continue filing tickets w/ Halo Support to help provide more clues and insights.

Haven't read anything on ranked being unplayable due to issues in the ranking system itself meaning there isn't any high level games being played on pc! I made a post about it here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/fqsztx/the_problem_with_ranked_on_mcc_pc_and_how_to_save/

Thanks for the flag - I didn't see this OP. I'll pass it along to the team - curious myself what the level distribution looks like and how many outliers are stuck unable to find suitable matches. It's a tough issue as population varies.

Mod. Support. Info.

Realistically there won't be any signficant developments here in the near term. There are all sorts of things the team would love to get to - and hopes to - but for the foreseeable future the priority is shipping the remaining titles and addressing existing issues/features.

This update did not give any indication of a date on the invite flighting did it? Just making sure.

correct - we don't have a firm date quite yet. As folks below noted, the team just did a Ring 1 pre-flight over the weekend which is the first step. It allowed us to test the new Waypoint Insider messaging/invitation system primarily and I believe several build blockers are still being actively worked on. Unfortunately this new reality we live in with everyone working from home and impact to our dev partners has introduced a bit more unpredictabiltiy but the team is working through it as best they can.

Richiieee

So, more of the usual "coming soon" stuff. They dove deep into how they identify issues, come up with new features, etc, but they just say "coming soon" to everything. Wow... I'm so glad I know how you guys work, that's really gonna make me enjoy the game even more...

Idk if it's just me, but I find that Challenges in just about every game are designed so poorly. First of all, there definitely needs to be a larger sum of seasonal points. Just 1 doesn't cut it, sorry. Especially for challenges that have you do campaign missions on Legendary, it's time consuming and you're doing all of this for one lousy seasonal point. Oh, and 50k exp, but if you're already in the higher ranks where you need millions of exp, what good does 50k do? I'd rather take 3 seasonal points over 1 seasonal point and 50k exp.

Moving Flight invites to Halo Waypoint is questionable. I know why it's being done; to give Halo Waypoint more traffic/activity, but at the same time it just doesn't really make sense. Not a lot of people even go on Halo Waypoint anyway, also considering there's no app for it on Mobile. And most people have some kind of email client on their phone, sending out emails is just a better system. And if people don't check their emails then that's their fault. Also considering Halo Waypoint is just not the go-to. Reddit will always be the go-to for discussions. They want more activity on Halo Waypoint and this just isn't it, Chief.

sorry you feel that way, but there's no desire to 'move traffic to Waypoint.' If anything, that 'traffic' is just more server load, no? Not like we're monetizing or advertising, etc.. The reality is that sending out hundreds of thousands of emails has proven to be spotty and unreliable and every flight we have a lot of folks who never get the email or are missing one or the other. Different ISPs and email clients have different rules handling mass emails and spam that we can't fully predict and work around. We are removing 3rd parties and that uncertainty from the equation and handling it in-house which will be more reliable, consistent, and streamlined for our internal processes. If an Insider wants to flight and participate, we dont feel it's too much to ask to stop by Waypoint to read the necessary info and pickup a key to install the build.

I'm confused, did you have to pay for halo CE?!?! I'm a xbox user btw

For PC, you can purchase an MCC 'bundle' which will come with every game as they're released or you can buy each title individually as they release. I assume this post is referring to MCC on PC and the release of H:CEA yesterday. :)

Unfortunately this means that at the times you're playing, there aren't enough other people in your local area to create a match, so the game finds the next closest data center that does have enough population to initiate a session.

What playlist did you encounter this in? I'm told 4v4 CTF should be 'flag at home to score.'

Team is aware and we'll get this added to the Known Issues list.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! We still listen to the "angry loud" people - we want to understand potential issues and opportunities that might be detracting from someone's experience / not aligned with the team's goals for the games. However, everyone has a different opinion and with PC, all sorts of nuances and differences in their setups and end results. We need to listen to everyone, and always will, but we can't make everyone happy and do everything everyone wants. :)

FrozenWinter77

Buddy this has been a thing since at least halo 3. It ain't 343.

CTF flag-at-home rules have always varied and it's a custom setting option. Feels like overall, people are generally split on it. Personally sometimes I like one or the other, depending on map and mood.

Henry_K_Faber

Pretty sure they said they are just going to turn off bloom in the playlists, which solves the problem.

I wouldn't say it 'solves' the problem, but it's a temp bandaid to help mitgiate the issue somewhat. This is an area the team will continue investigating and working on.

i'm really happy now that the admittedly frustrating progression system is starting to make more sense. getting rewarded for unlocks in reach while play halo 1 is nice, but i still wish you got xp for playing the campaigns. my friends and i want to beat it on legendary, but it just feels frustrating. i get why they do it, but maybe add like an xp cap, like firefight or something.

Challenges are still coming and are meant to help bridge that gap between offline/non-matchmade play and still being able to earn some XP and progress. It's taking longer than the team anticipated or would like, but they still plan to bring Challenges to MCC as another avenue for progression.

BiscuitMiscuit

Just to check, MCC got the Halo CE story. Not the MP yet?

I've downloaded the Campaign but my Steam edition seems to stall out trying to download the MP (maybe I'm not giving it enough time but it sits like this)

Assuming you ended up getting this sorted out - a minor issue was discovered on the Steam side right at launch where not all content was accessible. A Steam restart should've resovled (it did for me).

Gashnor

They explicitly said in the flight they were not working. I would assume they're working now, but I'm really curious if they're just ran in-game and not through the stupid Halo Channel app like MCC on XB1.

They work, but there are a few known issues for scenarios where they can stop working as intended. Should be referenced on the known issue KBA at the support site.

arczclan

Have there been any changes to the Xbox One version of the game?

Xbox One MCC update is coming soon - needed a bit more time. It will include some misc. bug fixes across the collection and the new CEA options like being able to toggle classic audio in MP, the 3d view model for customization, etc.

Hey ske7ch, I've looked over the known issues list, and other's have pointed out the same to me, but I'm not seeing anything about these specific issues, or the default keybind issue that people mentioned.

Picking up weapons on map shouldn't be an issue anymore, some zooming work was done... Today the team will be reviewing feedback and support tickets and updating Known Issues and their areas. If you are experiencing issues that you dont think are accounted for, please file a ticket at support.halowaypoint.com - this is the best/primary way for the team to track and prioritize issues. Also, as a general rule, please ensure you have the latest Win10 updates, we've seen numerous issues caused by being on older versions of Windows that go away once updated.

Is this Steam or Microsoft Store? I assume you've tried restarting Steam/client? And rebooting your PC? If you're still stuck, can you please file a bug ticket at support.halowaypoint.com?

McClouds

It's available now on Steam

And Xbox Game Pass for PC and the Microsoft Store :)
