Let’s determine whether the issue is with the upload or the download.

On your Mac, please go to your Steam Library page and do the following;

  • Right-click / double-click on Last Epoch
  • Switch to the Updates tab
  • Ensure that Steam Cloud is enabled
  • See how much data Steam claims is stored (if any)

If you don’t run the game through Steam I would not expect Steam Cloud to upload anything.

If you do run the game through Steam and also have conflicting data on another computer, when you run the game on that other computer you should be prompted with a notification alerting you to an inconsistency having been detected and have the choice of which save data to work with. In that case, you’d want to choose to download Steam Cloud’s data.

Have you tried having Steam verify the game’s file integrity? While it sounds like the client is working just fine, it could be that there’s something small that’s upsetting Steam.

It would be helpful to know which exact error message you’re getting when you try.

I’ve never tried copying save data from one Operating System to another, so I can’t guarantee that it will work. Nevertheless, here’s the relevant location for both macOS and Windows.

Saves folder in ~/Library/Application Support/com.EleventhHourGames.LastEpoch/

Saves folder in C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch

The easiest and most reliable way of doing so would likely be to let Steam Cloud handle this for you. Have you been playing Last Epoch through Steam or using the standalone client?

A commonly requested feature, footsteps are being added in Patch 0.7.8.

As your character traverses Eterra, you’ll hear the sound of his or her boots making contact with the ground. The sound will vary depending on where you are; you may hear the sound of someone walking on solid rock, splashing through the water, or something else!

In our upcoming update, Patch 0.7.8, we’ll be introducing a variety of critters to the game to help the world of Eterra feel alive. We’ve been very very sneaky and very very quiet to get a few sightings of them. Be careful! Bad things happen if you accidentally step on one. :anguished:

We previously announced that we recruited an Animations Lead. Patch 0.7.8 will feature some updated animations for the Mage, and today we’ve prepared some examples to show you!

This post is about animations (e.g. the Mage ‘pulling’), not skill effects (e.g. the actual meteor). However, as animations are seen in the context of skill effects, the previews show both. Where the skill effect occurs close to the character, we zoomed in to better show the animation.

The effect of Ice Barrage was cut for brevity.

We’re replacing the skeletons used in Last Epoch!

The skeletons our Art Team are working on will not just look better than the dated models we currently use, they will also perform better due to having lower poly counts.

We’re creating new models for both summoned minions and enemies, so this will bring performance improvements when large numbers of skeletons are on the screen, regardless of whether they’re your army or the sinister forces of the Immortal Empire.

Meruna Siren Lore

It is said that Lagon created the Meruna from the broken body of an ancient sea titan. The Meruna Siren is a spell caster that supports the brutish Meruna Ogres in combat, using her mastery of the ocean and fiendish voice to batter enemies while remaining out of reach.

(The Meruna were previously known as the Nereid.)

Unfortunately, we are still waiting on an update to our sound system that corrects the issue.

As we need to be able to QA patches prior to them being released, and Patch 0.7.8 is getting closer, it is starting to look possible that on Linux we’ll be going directly from 0.7.6c to 0.7.8.

As you know, our content patches include targeted optimizations. Patch 0.7.6 removed a few sources of stutter and fixed specific skills not being performant, and Patch 0.7.7 significantly improved framerates in many instances. Patch 0.7.8 will be continuing this trend.

One of the focuses of our efforts for Patch 0.7.8 is reducing the size of a Last Epoch install. I use Windows, Linux, and macOS regularly. On Windows 10 my Last Epoch folder is about 47.5 GB in size, on Ubuntu 20.04 it is around 50 GB, and on Catalina 10.15.4 it is approximately 51 GB.

Internally, we have Windows builds just over 12 GB in size. In Patch 0.7.8 we will be adding another chapter of story content, however, we anticipate the game remaining ≤ 15 GB.

Effects of this optimization will include;

  • Future patches entailing smaller downloads
  • Fresh installs of the game having smaller downloads
  • Less space being required during the patching procedure

We do plan to improve chat - and in most cases these improvements shouldn’t need to wait for multiplayer. One of the first changes we’ll be ready to implement is a complete rewrite of the system that filters profanity, but we’re actively working on other improvements for chat.
