I always wanted to say that and now I made it to master tier! I ran out of places to climb though and feel empty. I made a lot of different decks, sometimes more than 5 decks a day, so I could find a deck that would counter the current daily meta net decks that I would face, or sometimes I would use said net decks to climb further. My most saltiest moments of making decks was that the instant I made some fun Freljord/Noxus decks with Vlad and the Crimson Elite, a lot of decks were made of that variety shortly after his buffs and that ruined a lot of my fun. I stream my games, so maybe I'll even get a third follower ahahah!
Congrats!
Sweet deck! Had so much fun I took it to masters :P
Did you do it yourself? I’ve seen a few odd haircuts during lockdown but yours seems pretty good
Naw I got it cut ~4 months ago and what y'all saw was just the result of 3+ months of it growin out of control
What happened to your hair?
When we started production on this game I promised the team I wouldn't cut my hair until launch. Welp, we launched!
Appreciate the positive reply to my criticism. It's this particular one. The previous explanatory woman narrator for the bilgewater release was great for talking through all the mechanics and new champs, which made sense for a lower scale announcement/video.
It really just has to do with how big this announcement is. The content is something the devs have put a lot of time and thought into to create a great and captivating future for the game, and the delivery just wasnt commensurate.
The willingness to reply and ask for feedback is a great approach and very appreciated as an active player.
What about compared to these past performances from Jeff and I? (you don't have to watch them if they're too cringeworthy obv :P)

I do not want to hear these guys making an announcement ever again. I'm sure they are good devs, but they are awful at speaking and it was obviously read from a poorly written script while on zoom. Hearing them and comparing it to even post brode HS announcements made me cringe. This is HUGE news with tons of amazing content that I am excited for. The video editing was even great, but the speaking delivery was so emotionless that it detracted from what could have been a great announcement.
Thanks for the feedback! Was it this particular video, or all of our videos? We had to make some accommodations filming this one from home as we all are still working out-of-office due to COVID.
We're on this one
We're fixing this
Thank you for working for stuff like this which may seem trivial but we actually care about them!
We do too
Thanks we will review
Man you don't know how much I appreciate that the dev team is taking into consideration consistent syntax. It's one of the best parts of Magic that other games could learn from.
We absolutely value consistent syntax, but we also have accepted much tighter text constraints due to things like:
1) Font and textbox size - Localizing for all languages+the size of card text we're excited to put on phones. 2) Card complexity - We have more 'live' cards in hand on average, which results in more cards in play
That's a major reason why you see us experimenting with text that often reads less naturally. While it's awkward to read initially, if players can understand it still, it gives us a valuable shorter template that we can consistently use moving forward. Otherwise we just don't make those cards.
Read moreThis is the second time I'm just baffled by u/RiotUmbrage (in two occurences). Some more and I'll be considering starting a cult.
Feels like the insight and vision is three steps beyond what's usually considered 'good'. The statement on esport for example (goal is to have games that last for tens of years into hard skill ceiling into esport as a way to value mastery of the game) is just wonders.
I'm just sorry that ends in a game that probably won't fit my tastes -_-
Is baffling... good? D: What did you hear that wasn't appealing to your tastes?
I guess my mastery of nuances is also baffling :-D.
I meant it as a praise (first time was your 'state of the meta' statement). Nothing I heard wasn't to my taste, it's quite the opposite.
It's the game that isn't really sticking with me. LOR is a fantastically well done game, I absolutely don't question the choices made (well ... some, but that's marginal), and I am in awe of how well you guys do what you do. But I'm afraid it's not what I enjoy.
I think design space is too small // granularity too large. Gameplay is too much synergistic, self-centered, and the balance between ingame decisions versus pre-game decisions is too much skewed toward pre-game decisions. Basically, too much MTG-like. End result is interactions with the opponent matter ... not that much. And the game becomes repetitive too fast.
I prefer 'muddy' games where your plan (eg deck) doesn't 'simply work', neither does your opponent's, and the largest part of the game is how each improvise and make do with what each got to try to get back on tracks. some tracks at least, even if not the planned ones.
(In card games that points to TESL/AEG's L5R, which clearly are my top 2 among 10 or 20)
Again, this is only my taste. For the record, 'been playing LOR since open beta, playing two different accounts several games a day. before that I had a comprehensive experience with 10 or 20-ish comparable games, and some less comparable (clash thingy).
Hope this long wall of word fully answers to the questions you didn't ask :D
Thanks for taking the time to reply!
If players feel like in-game decisions don't matter enough, we've failed. Mastery can't just be deckbuilding. This is something we think about a lot, and we've seen some (but not complete) similar feedback from the highest level players as well.
I do think decks will still have clear "Plan As" to a higher degree than you see in some other games just due to how often the game drives through Champions, but we definitely can provide more ability to gear-shift / pivot in-game too.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the kind feedback - we have several heroes who really championed for mobile and helped everyone deliver the goods on phones; will make sure they see this!
If I may add : would love to be able to filter cards by sets. Right now it's not an issue but it might become one in the future.
Workin on it
