I say the same thing to everyone: practice, practice, practice.

If you want to be a caster, but have zero footage of you casting anything, you've missed a step. A lot of people have the desire to commentate, few continue to follow up on that desire with action.

Getting noticed is difficult and I can say from personal experience that I got extremely lucky to be where I am now, but it's impossible to get noticed if you have nothing for people to take note of.

Have a good set up and then cast like China games or academy games that they don’t cast then once you build a name you can cast like college games. Being an actual riot caster is probably knowing the right people. Azael wasn’t a caster. Markz and crumbz are probably next when someone leaves.

Azael was very much a caster before he came to Riot, although he didn't start at Riot as a caster if that's what you mean.
Mark doesn't really want to cast AFAIK, he much prefers his analyst, content and production roles he has outside of Riot.

Crumbz likes doing a bit of everything it seems and he's been great fun to have alongside me for Academy games.

practice. i use to be really into casting and got pretty damn good at it (i could go full cpt flowers mode in a big teamfight) but have fallen out of love with the game for the most part since i have been playing for almost 9 years. personally i would start by casting over lcs games with the actual casters in the background, helps with the flow and pacing of the game and your casting and what you are focusing on.

there are also two types of casting, color casting and play by play casting. color casters are the more statistic/macro/micro casters that pay attention to the smaller details while play by play is team fighting and skirmishes and what not. if you are in a multi caster game, one focus on one of the sides while the other does the other side. ie flowers is a play by play while jatt/kobe is a color. flowers got found by casting collegiate games

if you get really good and show that you are really committed, one of the lcs casters may help you and "coach" you if you reach out to them. most of the casting they do is off the air while practicing

I'd love to see a clip of your Flowers mode if you have it.

I listed the advantages, but yeah

Sorry, was more adding onto your post to the original poster, wasn't trying to hijack your already great ideas!

Definitely. Yusui and Olive both should have made the leap to LCS either last split or into 2020. They're both easily LCS caliber mid laners who would fare well in LCS if given legitimate, extended opportunities. Palafox/Insanity as a tier below them need a bit more time to round out.

Sad none of the LCS orgs care about these players and they just wither away through the years! Sucks!

I care about Academy AccomplishedCamel, I CARE.

Palafox is someone who I think could one day be an LCS caliber mid (probably would be just fine if they put him in LCS right now, tbh). He's legitimately talented, but has been hamstrung by having really bad teams around him.

Pala defs improved a lot and was absolutely one of, if not the strongest piece of GGSA last split, but not a Top 3 mid in Summer IMO. Personally I think GoldenGlue, Olive and Yusui were all better than him but he was still good. Mid is generally a pretty top heavy role (at least in NA) so his continued improvement and now moving to the talent moulding machine of C9 bodes well for his future.

And the Oceanian exodus continues. Man I'm so sad for OCE, there's gonna be no one left there soon, Shernfire, k1ng, Destiny, Lost, FBI, ry0ma already all gone...

You lost Lost in there!

BagelJ

They are players who have proven that they are suited for the pro player life. But they can still improve (NA is still better than OCE lol), no language barrier, and cheap.

Also the import rule improved for smaller regions and OCE is the most obvious one to draw talent from based on the reasons you mentioned, so good players that fall under the 'Inero rule' (unofficial name) are generally pretty valuable and a safe investment.

JENSENJENSENYENSEN

lots of talent relative to what? certainly not LCS, look at the other teams.

the NA server? sure, but that's not saying much

Hauntzer was a top half top laner last split and they have a bunch of young, hungry players (and Keith) on top of that.

FBI is very talented, Closer is presumably at least individually strong (but I have no idea) and Greyson is experienced and this is his best LCS shot probably ever.

blitzKriegzzz

So they have ...

Hauntzer - Closer - Goldenglue - FBI - Keith ?

Well that seems like a very budget roster.

Presumably cheap and IMO filled with a lot of talent.

Getting RESULTS with this roster might be tricky with so many variables but the talent is there to have a good split them reevaluate.

Personally, I like this but only time will tell.

Fnc won worlds on their first try :^)

You're not wrong!

nio151

Going back further we also have c9

DL

By a good margin as well

2 more trophies than Xmithie who has 1 over Bjerg? Not 100% sure

This is accurate yes

Linko_98

He was already streaming and making mad money before worlds

IIRC I thought DoinB's story was that he WAS a streamer before going pro?

Songbirdur

I hope to hear you cast some more games next year too, really enjoyed the CG - CLG match

Why thank you!

You don't have to wait until next year, I'm on Scouting Grounds for our upcoming coverage next Saturday.

Two different linguists in the family? Christmas must be filled with useless trivia. Linguistic trivia the best trivia tho

edit: I can't spell

Oh yes, yes it is.

As someone with two different family members that are linguists, a love of fantasy and absolutely zero handle on any of this stuff; this was a fantastic read thank you!
