As a LATAM Rioter all I can say is... Gracias.

[deleted]

This is one of the threads that Riot is going to ignore

Hijacking for visibility, it felt fitting.

Hi again Reddit, this is a pretty lengthy post so we're gonna do our best to address these concerns point by point. This is not just me, I’ve sat down with a bunch of Rioters from LATAM and we are committed to answering your questions on this matter until we have cleared all doubts. Not all of them have Reddit so I’ll be attributing posts to the Rioter who made them in AMA style. Expect plenty of interactions. We’re going to try to hit every single question, so please be patient if we take a bit to get to yours.

I’d like to start by saying we don’t see LAS or LAN as anything other than server shards, after the LATAM merger. For us LATAM Rioters, our responsibility is equal to both servers.

So to work on the first point, there are Rioters and Support staff who care after and play in both servers, with the specific division of our Mexico City and Santiago offices being alongside responsibilities; Mexico takes care of LoL matters, Chile look...

a small scale version of what we saw in NA with Tyler1.

xd.

Third Point - League Partners that don't have requirements and are/were on the program (Official list not updated since November I believe?, and yes, I reported this issue since then): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14snhrHDBNA3X_RSrmNbiY98iAgmpgmMGc5YfnNGtwNc I'll get into the new ones when they're public.

Fourth Point - "we reduced the tournament system to the top organizers with the cleanest record in our system.", 17 likes on facebook, 70 team tournaments without actual participants:) TOP TIER ORGANIZERS.

Peru situation - I would bet most peruvian players are on LAN server and for some reason you keep pushing for them to change servers, it only hurts the scene in general to divide such a huge competitive country (all players that are on LLA are from LAN server btw), even changing rule sets for NACIONAL competitions 7 hours before they start: https://twitter.com/CAutoboost/status/1099872669347053574 "we are having an internal look".

Riot Nebo, Latam Comms: You are correct in the fact that the creator list is not up to date, and some of those creators are no longer in the program. We’d also invite you to review those channels you mentioned. For example, Hyurno uploads LoL videos in his gameplay channel, Shasko uploads his content directly to his Facebook Fanpage, Tommaister made several streams in January and Fallen and Kevo had their separate channels with thousands of views on this month. However, we do commit to cleaning up this list this week.

Riot Mokarran, Latam Comms: You’re correct that several communities like Reset Gaming have smaller than ideal social media platforms, however, they are still holding tournaments and up to our standard that hundreds of players have enjoyed. They mostly organize through their discord which you can find here.

Riot Avalard, LATAM Esports: On the Peru situation, we recognize that this was a painful mistake. Fortunately, it only affected one player, as most of the teams new ...

Riot Nebo telling NovaKS regretted and confessed .. that so much fun. Specially because just last night Nova made a post to tell "I didnt' mean to hurt anyone with those comments but I don't regret anything" . The post was downvoted af and deleted after.
Riot LATAM trying to make things up by partnering with toxic players. A post made specifically to use in this nonsense kinda justification.

Riot Nebo, LATAM Comms: Effectively, NovaKS published some things after our conversation and as you mention it showed that he actually showed no remorse. Because of this we have decided not to keep him in the program.

: On to

the Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru situations

... We fully agree that playing from certain countries fails to deliver on what we consider an appropriate connection to enjoy LoL (we have over 30 countries in LATAM) so we’re working with several regional ISPs to broaden the reach of Riot Direct. Because of this we have seen significant gains in connection quality in several countries, Peru included. That being said, certain countries infrastructure pose a challenge that goes beyond our capabilities, as we would need to rewire things.

How can it be that in Argentina ISPs with level 3 servers have a ping problem when before December everything was absolutely fine with those ISPs. And because they are so complicated when a solution as simple as the one Ariana Grande offers here, can not be applied by a company as immense as RIOT?

Yonner - Live Services: Talking about connectivity issues, we did have a problem with a specific ISP in Argentina that made it spike, but that problem is already solved.

We have installed connectivity infrastructure in both Argentina and Peru, and connected to a multitude of ISPs in both countries, including the biggest ones. This process is of no cost to the ISPs, but still requires their interest and willingness to connect. ISPs are independent companies and we cannot force them to connect to the points of presence in the different countries. Take into account that only in Argentina there are around 500 ISPs, it is extremely hard to contact all of them. That being said, we still have the vast majority connected.

We know that there are still areas of opportunity - and we are committed to improving the latency of LATAM players - but still, the average latency is under 60 ms for both Peru and Argentina, and 80% of Argentinians and Peruvians players enjoy League under 60 ms.

I can see riot be like. "There! Now leave us alone!"

We've arrived at the summit with the knowledge that the meme rock will once again roll down to ground level and we'll have to get to pushing it up again.

Memes, memes never change.

Hey guys, just to clarify this was not made centrally and it's something the weebs at the RIot LATAM office put together.

Hope you like it!
