Using your example, the Aurora would give you 200 coal and the Jean Bart would give you 20 Republic Tokens.

I believe this visual has a bit more detail on what you can get when you are looking at premiums versus non-premiums. This visual is also found in the article above.

This has happened to the best of us, getting dev struck that is. This could be the simple case that the player just doesn't read chat. This might be the simple case that it was a newer player and doesn't understand the mechanics as well as veteran players. The player could also be stuck in binocular mode trying to aim at a ship and didn't realize what was happening.

Many captains in this thread have already covered some of the ways to increase credit gain. Premium time is the easiest way to increase credit earning and a lot of players in this thread have recommended that.

Tips to making more credits:

Premium Time: pretty self explanatory.

Credit Signal Flags: These can definitely make the amount of credits you earn go up by a lot. You can use the normal Zulu signal and also the special economic flags.
Camouflages with Credit earning: There are specific disposable camouflages in the game that one of their stat lines is increased credit earning. Gamescom camouflage was a great example of a credit camouflage.
Premium Ships are also good at making credits. Other players have touched on these but find a premium that is of a tier you are comfortable with.
The biggest factor in making credits is your own personal performance in battle. The more you do, the better the results at the end of the match.

Rewards for killing a marauder?

If you sank a marauder over the weekend you will get: 100 doubloons, 5 post-apocalyptic camouflages, 10 each of (Papa Papa, Zulu Hotel, Zulu, Equal Speed Charlie London and India Bravo Terrathree) and a Pirate hunter flag. This is per marauder you sank.

Thanks for the feedback on the currencies that these ships will be released in the future. There has been a few comments in this thread that there is a certain "wall" that ships are being locked behind.

Let us begin with Steel: Steel is obtainable in Ranked and you can get quite a bit for ranking out each season. This is an option available for most players that are determined and want to take on the challenge of ranking out. There was also a Snowflakes event last winter that gave both steel and coal depending on the tier. There was also the purchasable "Steel Monsters" campaign that gave a good chunk of steel. There is also the obvious in Clan Battles that gives steel and remains the main way to get steel. Yes, steel is more rare than coal but there are quite a few different ways to get steel. You can also include the rewards from King of Sea for certain teams that place high enough. Also don't forget that if you get the lucky SC you can also get steel!
