We touched on this point in the stream yesterday but the backup mentioned there is only a partial backup. It does not include a client or a game engine so it's currently only usable for taking content such as Soul Wars/Stealing Creation. The 2012 partial backup, in its current state, would be impossible for players to log into and lacks compatible tools to receive updates.
Will daeyalt essence have better rc pet odds at all? Can we get the groot recolors polled soon (I know they are on the backburner but I am eager)
I've added the essence question to the Q&A document for the livestream but the groot one will hopefully be coming out in the next game improvement poll we do as Mod Ry has made the models already :)
I can't remember which (ex)mod said it on a Shauny interview stream, but they talked about funny bugs and Ash later showed some screenshots of it on Twitter.

I shipped it out this morning and emailed the player with the tracking number so they can follow it with the delivery company.
This is unacceptable and I can only apologise on behalf of the former employees that were responsible for sending these out before I joined the OSRS Team. Sween and myself will be handling this first thing this morning. I've prepared a prize on my desk and will send the player a tracking number once I file it in the parcel delivery system. Is there a reason the more difficult version is only for the next week or is it just the competition that is for one week only?
We want to trial to see how this goes and maybe utilise something like this in the future elsewhere.

That is something we want to do in the future including different hitsplats for different combat styles.

We get a message internally when it happens but since I've been here I've not seen one. I would have to ask the data team for that data prior to my arrival on the team but that might take awhile to confirm.
