Hopefully someone posts a thread of all deciphered codes for the cameras around the map.

I would have thought someone would have put them on the wiki by now 😔

Worth it

bloody could add a way to randomize the device ids every time the mouse is turned on (e.g. pc reboot) or even just clone those of another manufacturer

They do that by default, to me this reveals their intentions.

Fixed in next update

im playin 4:3 with 1440x1080 but I just cant figure out why it compresses like this

Yeah that's shit - I'll see what we can do

What is his steamid?

What resolution is that? Why are you playing with a 1:1 aspect ratio?

You didn't say "Sup N*GGER", you just shouted "N*GGER". I've unbanned you, because you were probably just testing.. but you should probably not say that word anymore.

Could you please put the person to last wound you second in that list?

Sometimes the cheater downs you and has his non-cheating friend finish you.

Yes

Cross-post from the Bug Reporting thread:

[BUG] After today's Halloween update you seem to have updated the UI for F7 reporting. While it seems to be an improvement for making bug suggestions or offering feedback, the "Report A Player" interface leaves a lot to be desired.

After wanting to submit a report for a potential cheater, I encountered the following:

  • Gone is the dropdown list of players in-game with the most recent offender at the top of the list. This has been replaced with a very pretty UI of all players in alphabetical order.

  • The most recent offender is not listed first, or at the top, so you have to hunt to find his name. This can be difficult if you have forgotten his name and have to browse through every name. It might not jump out at you straight away and can lead to confusion.

  • Looking through the names that were there I noticed a number of users from a server I was on previously -- not on my current server -- and who were not suspected cheaters in any sense. This contributes even more to the overall confusion.

  • After struggling to find the player who killed me using this new interface, I alt-tabbed out of Rust, launched Firefox, loaded battlemetrics, and looked through the list of players for the name I would recognize -- and I found him!

  • After tabbing back into Rust with the Report screen still up I found he wasn't even on the list at all, so I couldn't report him.

This new interface makes reporting suspected cheaters exponentially confusing and more difficult. I'm happy that hitting F7 no longer launches a separate web browser which hogs RAM, but not at the expense of making reporting difficult, if not impossible. Please take another look at this because in its current form, the F7 Reporting Interface is completely broken.

You should be able to click on "report player" on the death screen to report the player that killed you.

Failing that the last person that killed you should always be first in the list.

Glad to see its finally here. It would be good to see a community design competition though.

It's something we've talked about, not sure how it would work practically though.

/u/garryjnewman good call, glad it worked out this way.

Any specific reasons for it? As in why the topic became 'hot' lately or why the rules for a refund changed?

Either way, thank you

Felt like the right thing to do. If we shipped an un-updated Linux version we'd only be doing that to appease people so they don't ask for refunds, but if we're doing that they should get refunds anyway. So why not just give refunds and kill the Linux version - gives a nice clean break.

Yeah the guys are on it, I believe it’s fixed already on staging?

hunted5

priorities what are those?

What would you like Jarryd to be working on in his first day on Rust?

It's something we've talked about. The problem from our point of view is that whatever measures we put in place, like time limits or account locking, anyone truly addicted will work around and end up with 3 steam accounts to play more.

I feel like a lot of the destructive stuff comes from the 24 hour nature of the game. Being offline raided. We've considered having servers that are only open for 4 hours a day, at the same time every day. I'm not totally sure this would solve the problem - because it would obviously require self control to not be in multiple limited window servers.

Got any ideas?

Do you consider Linux support to be more difficult than supporting multiple consoles?

Also do you plan on selling your game for specific consoles, only to later drop support for it, as you did with Linux?

Will people also be shit out of luck when trying to refund a game, that simply doesn't work anymore?

Well, a few points here.

  1. We're not supporting multiple consoles
  2. Less than 30 people a day play Rust on Linux
  3. We don't sell Rust on Linux
  4. Find your receipt in your email, forward it to me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and I'll make sure you've only ever played the Linux version and paypal you the refund personally.

can consoles run it though, or are you doing crazy optimisation? also with the addition of new monuments which will be CPU intensive, like the new excavator, how will they cope. Im not being funny, but rust isn't the easiest game to run, and although I don't agree with what the first chap is saying, I do think it will be a monstrous task to port over

It’s not like you press a button and it works, it’s a process of platform specific optimisations and compromises. Our feeling is that 60fps is more important than anything - everything else can be compromised on.

rust will 100% not come to current gen consoles, thats a no brainer. it will release on next gen consoles

you are 100% wrong
