As this update is mainly focused on matchmaking changes we have only one region available (US East) to have the most players in the same region. We will use the telemetry generated by your matchmaking attempts to validate the changes introduced.




Matchmaking Improvements

Skill-based matchmaking

An option “Skill-based” has been added to the lobby screen. When enabled, this option will match you exclusively with players in your assigned skill bracket. Please be aware that selecting this option can result in fewer players in your match.

When this option is disabled, we will try to match you with players in your assigned skill bracket first. If no such match is available, we will then look for a match with as many players as possible based on those that have also disabled the “Skill Based" option.

Ratios for different group types

We have added a ratio that will increase or decrease the PvP rating of a group depending on its type.

Gunplay
Frag Bomb
  • Adjusted damage falloff resulting in higher chances of survival towards the range limit.
  • Shrapnels that reach players behind full cover only apply Intense Bleeding and no actual health damage.

General
  • Consecutive shots will now correctly cancel and prevent sprinting for a very short time in order to prevent "run and gun" exploits.
  • Entering Dark Sight now follows the same rules as switching equipment in order to prevent recoil cancelling.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a specific wall to be missing.

UI
  • Fixed an issue where double clicking didn't buy and equip items (it was only buying them).
  • Fixed a bug that caused the choices in the control scheme selection screen to not be saved by the game's options.

Gunplay
  • Overall, weapons should blend nicer again and feel more responsive, as the transitions after swapping weapons have been smoothed out a bit.
    • However, some weapons might still feel a bit clunkier compared to before, as there was zero delay when swapping, and now there will always be a bit at least to ensure the shooting animation, and recoil are not skipped before the swap action is completed.
    • Weapons with Marksman and Sniper scopes, as well as powerful weapons in general will be affected by this more noticeably than others.
  • Slightly increased the rate of fire for the LeMat Mark II revolver.
    • It shoots a little bit slower than the Caldwell Conversion with regular fire.
    • The fanning speed is comparable to the Caldwell Pax now.
  • Slightly reduced the rate of fire for the Nitro Express Rifle.
    • It is a bit slower now in firing the second barrel right after the first, in order to help with animation blending and the quick swap smoothing mentioned above.

  • Fixed an issue where players were able to "Run and Gun" using rapid-fire weapons.
  • First set of improvements made to the Quick Swap changes.
    • Pistol sway now only occurs after a weapon switch.
    • Pistol sway duration has been reduced from 3 to 2 seconds after entering ADS.

Developer Notes:
We iterated some more on the recent changes to the player's movement improvements, eliminating an unintended side effect that allowed players to rapid-fire with levering/fanning and the Avtomat while sprinting.
We also refined the ruleset for when the additional handgun sway is triggered, limiting it only to right after changing weapons and no longer every-time you enter Aim Down Sights (ADS) with them.

Spectator Mode

Performance - Stutter We have been investigating the cause of stutter with some of the community member who has been kindly sending us profiling captures. In the reported cases, we found that the issue was caused by the graphics card video memory, where the card ran out of available VRAM.
We have made a quick change on the Test Server modifying the Ping value to display the average, min and max of Video Memory (VRAM) consumption in the last 64 frames in Gigabytes. In case some of you are able to reproduce the stutters on the Test Server we would like to ask you to check the max value, and compare it to the max value your graphic card supports.

Why Vandal and not Mare's Leg? Mare’s Leg is an anachronistic name for 1895, a name which came into use in 1958. So while we took inspiration from the more modern weapon, we created our universe’s own version – one that would be right at home in 1895.

We are heavily investigating issues most known as the "ghost bug" meaning that a player is stuck on server side, but can move and in some cases interact with items. We would like to ask players that frequently experienc this on the Live servers to join our test servers.
If the issue occurs during testing, we would like to ask users to reach out to us and send their Game.log file, found in Hunt (Test server)'s installation folder, so then we can further investigate the mentioned issue.

Different Intensities for Damage Effects – Update 1.4 rewrites everything you know about burning, bleeding or poison, with new rules and intensities for each damage type.
New Equipment – The update brings some new toys to play with. Now you can poison your careless foes using the brand new Poison Trip Mine tool and as for the careful Hunters, the Serpent trait has been added, allowing the interaction with clues, rifts and abandoned bounties from afar when using dark sight.
New Legendaries – We have introduced many new Legendary weapons including the runners up in our 2nd anniversary weapon skin contest as well as a Hunter! Make sure to check them out.
