This week at Bungie, we launched a whole bunch of missiles.
It’s been an action packed week. Over the weekend, we watched as Rasputin sent literal ordnance into the sky to take down the Almighty in Destiny 2’s first live in-game event. We followed that up with a mighty salvo of virtual launches in the form of media, articles, and a stream to showcase the future of Destiny. Season of Arrivals has started building a bridge to this fall, when Guardians will wield the Darkness for the first time in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.
Here’s the full stream in case you haven’t had a chance to watch yet.

Don’t have time to watch the full stream? Here are a couple of the first looks at Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

We’re excited about the future of Destiny. To lay the groundwork, we have to make some changes to the core game. Several less-explored locations and activities will be going into the Destiny Content Vault (DCV) to pave the way for new hotness like Europa coming th... Read more
This week at Bungie, a new quest was discovered.
Guardian Games has come to a close. Hunters won the first day, but Titans showed up in force to completely dominate the rest of the event. Warlocks took home the silver, and Hunters still look frabjous.
The final Iron Banner of the Season is also live this week and, along with it, players have discovered a new quest. The community has been tasked with helping Rasputin by completing Seraph Tower events and are currently working to complete the objectives on EDZ, the Moon, and Io.
We’ve seen feedback that the Tower events are too difficult and that it’s hard to wrangle up enough people to join the cause. We have made some server-side changes to lower the difficulty of the event to help alleviate frustrations and increase your success rate.
We made an error when we calculated how many completions were required, so yesterday we introduced bonus multipliers to help the community’s progress and get you all on your way... Read more
Our focus this week is a content creator from Mixer who loves raiding in Destiny. Despite the name, she is not a “Bro,” but at the same time she possesses all of the positive qualities you might find in one of your “bros.” She likes chilling with her community and taking down bosses.
Please meet BroFish.
Welcome to your Community Focus, tell us a bit about who are you and what do you do for a living?
BroFish: My name is BroFish and I am a full-time content creator on Mixer.
  What got you into gaming?
BroFish: When I was six I moved to a new town, and the first friend I met had Pokémon Yellow on the Gameboy Color. I would go over to her house every day after school and play Pokémon. I've been playing games ever since.

Playing games is one thing, streaming them is on another level. What first got you into streaming?
BroFish I first learned what livestreaming was when Prison of Elders was revealed in May of 2015. I saw ProfessorBroman laughing and ...

This week at Bungie, Titan domination continues.
Guardian Games continues into its second week and, after a good showing by Hunters on Day 1, it’s been all Titans all day every day. The book readers haven’t scored a win yet, but are optimistic they can rally.
After Day 1, we saw a lot of players asking about score weighting since the results seemed to play out like the population of classes predicted. Since Titans have been relentlessly destroying the other classes, we have seen players asking if there may be some other issue going on. As a Hunter, I too am in disbelief as I watch our flag try to bury itself into the ground. We’ve been double checking behind the scenes and digging into the data to get a better picture of what’s going on. Here is Senior Designer Peter Sarrett to share some of our findings.
Peter Sarrett: When we first started planning Guardian Games, we knew there were more Hunters than other classes in the population and we’d have to do something to ...

This week at Bungie, the Guardian Games have begun.

Hunters, Titans, and that floaty class are facing off against each other in a friendly competition. We kicked off the event with a dev insight showing some of us at Bungie sharing our thoughts on who is going to win.

Sure, there’s some light-hearted ribbing going on, but at the end of the day we’re all Guardians. Still though, the winners get to flex their class item in everyone’s faces, so get out there and represent your team.
Hunters won the first day, but Titans rose to the occasion to claim day two. It’s still far from over. One thing we haven’t told you yet is that during the final week of the event, every day’s victory will count for double points. So if any class is holding a fairly significant lead and thinks they can sit back and relax, they better keep on pushing or another class could pull off a comeback.
Before we move on to the rest of the TWAB, Production Director Justin Truman would lik... Read more

Our focus this week is a on a site providing valuable intel on opponents you face in Trials of Osiris. This team of developers harnessed the magic of the Destiny API and used it to create a tool that shows you what you’re up against on your way to the Lighthouse.
Please meet Destiny Trials Report.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your role is in the Destiny community.
DTR: Hello! We’re Vlad and Mark, the two developers behind Destiny Trials Report. We aim to build the ultimate companion for Guardians trying to reach the Lighthouse. Primarily this means that you can look up your opponents to have an idea on how they will play and how good they are. Among other things you see their loadout, kill/death-ratio, and how they did so far this week.

We spoke before back in the Destiny 1 days. What have you all been up to since then?
DTR: Judging by the header image of our previous Community Focus we’ve definitely improved our visual style since then. Be...

This week at Bungie, the final bunker opened.
A third and final Seraph Bunker has opened on Io. The new Bunker points players to partake in the Seraph Tower event and new Legendary Lost Sectors on the Jovian moon. Guardians also made a new discovery in the bunker about Rasputin’s efforts to track our enemies.    We’re one month into Season of the Worthy and we’re not done yet. Grandmaster Ordeal is only a few weeks away, but before we share more on that, let’s talk about a new charity initiative coming up next week.

Making a Difference

As the world responds to the outbreak of COVID-19, many of us have been urged by our local governments to stay home. Containing the spread of the virus is one of the best things we can do to protect our fellow humans. If you’re a gamer, you’ve been training for this moment for your whole life. If you possess the heart of a Guardian, however, you might be wrestling with the urge to do more!     This is the question we’ve been ... Read more
Our focus this week is a streamer and a Destiny completionist who specializes in helping people – both IRL and in-game. In addition to raiding with her fellow Guardians and somehow managing to finish every challenge, Triumph, and Seal in Destiny, she works a demanding job as an emergency room nurse.
During this time of international concern, we thought it was important to introduce you to an inspiring member of the Destiny community who’s not only helping Destiny players make the most of their experience, she’s also helping people in the real world. Please meet iLulu.
Thanks for joining us. Please take a virtual seat and tell us a little bit about yourself and what your role is in the Destiny community.
iLulu: My online name is iLulu (formally known as: Lulusoccer) and I go by Melissa outside of gaming. I’ve been a part-time streamer for almost five years now with a main focus on Destiny. My passion for the game started with the Beta on the PS4 and has been ongoing si...

This week at Bungie, a new bunker was discovered.
Doors, once hidden, open on the lunar surface revealing another Seraph Bunker in Rasputin’s network. Guardians have begun exploring it to see what upgrades lie within. And if you’re up for the challenge, there are also new Legendary Lost Sectors available and new weapons to get your hands on.
That’s not all. Lord Saladin is at the Tower and has a new Bow for you to earn along with several opportunities for pinnacle drops. On top of all that, week three of Trials of Osiris begins tomorrow. What map do you think will be featured this week?

World Drops

There were several armor sets added to the engram loot pool with Season of the Worthy. We saw a lot of feedback that, while you were excited to see your favorite armor sets from the past, the fact that none of them had Seasonal mod slots made them feel less desirable and not worth including in your builds.
Good news! We’re adding Seasonal mod slots to these sets in ... Read more
This week, our focus is a community artist from the UK. He’s created some amazing Destiny-themed art in the form of fan posters, retro comic book covers, and more! We invited him to share a little bit about the artist behind the brush, or tablet in some cases. Please meet JackDrawss.
Let’s get down to business. Who is the infamous JackDrawss? Tell us about yourself and your journey as a Guardian in the real world.
Jack: So my name is Jack and I live in London, UK. I’m in my second year of college doing film and television studies, however I’ve always loved drawing as a hobby. In October of last year, after Shadowkeep dropped, I drew a fan poster for the release. I also made some for Destiny2’s launch and for Forsaken. I then decided to post it to Twitter under a newly made account, JackDrawss (I wanted to call it JackDraws but that was taken lol). Now I love posting and drawing for the Destiny community every day.

That is a fine looking fan poster. Tell us more ... Read more
This week at Bungie, a collision course was set.
With the launch of Season of the Worthy, Guardians are heading into the wild to discover lost Seraph Bunkers and power up Rasputin’s defenses to take on this new threat. Here is a quick look at some of what you can expect during the new Season of Destiny:

Before we embark on the first TWAB of the new Season, we’d like to acknowledge some feedback that we’ve been seeing in the wild. We had a large change to emblems and stat trackers, which we’ll be talking about later in the TWAB. We’re also seeing some discussion on the new weapons of the season, and lack of Ritual Weapons for Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit. The team is currently reviewing and discussing the feedback, and we will be looking to talk about our goals for weapons in a future TWAB.
There are a variety of other topics, from Eververse to armor mods, which we’re collecting feedback on and discussing internally as a team. While we don’t have any specific chan... Read more
It’s been a while since we’ve fired up the spotlight and focused its bright gaze on an outstanding member of our community. We’re ready to get back into the habit of sharing cool people who you should you keep an eye on, so here’s a fresh Community Focus hot off the presses.
Our focus this week is a detail-oriented master of the Crucible. You may have seen him breaking down weapons and abilities and offering his analysis on better understanding the intricacies of the Destiny combat sandbox. Please meet Drewsky.
Welcome to the show. OK, it’s not really a show … anyways—tell us a little bit about yourself and what your role is in the Destiny community.
Drew: Hey all, I'm Drew. I started playing FPS games back during some of the early Halo titles, and since then been in love with Bungie FPS games. I've attended a few MLG events and made some great friends through competitive Halo, and that trend continued into Destiny where I've had the pleasure of attending some...

In previous TWABs we have shined a spotlight on the artwork in Destiny 2 and our talented Bungie artists that create it. Everything in Destiny—the weapons, the characters, the environments, even the sky—is all hand-crafted by our team to bring the visuals of the solar system to life in your home. Today, we wanted to highlight some of the spectacular art from Season of Dawn and help you find more art to use as your desktop wallpaper. Each artist’s name links to their website where you can browse more of their work. Now, on to the gallery.

This week at Bungie, Trials is back on the menu.
It’s been an exciting week. You all came together and donated your stockpiles of Fractaline to the ongoing effort to build the new Lighthouse and usher in the return of Trials of Osiris next Season. As soon as the final stage was complete, you were invited to survey the completion of the project and light the beacon. We saw your signal as our cue to release this developer insight video confirming what many have been speculating for a while now.

To follow the video, Luke Smith wrote another Director’s Cut that covered a few topics, including our philosophy on Seasons and some challenges in sustaining a game with weapons that last forever. Similar to the three-part epic he put out last year, it contains a lot of important info you won’t want to miss.

With the return of Trials and a new Season on the way, we’re planning to shake things up with some changes to your Guardian abilities. The Dev team h... Read more
This week at Bungie, we had to fix the timeline . . . again.
Sometimes when you kill a bug it doesn’t stay dead. Earlier this week, while deploying Hotfix 2.7.1.1, a small number of servers failed to restart with the proper configuration file. This reintroduced a previous issue that caused some players to lose currency. We had to reset the clock again, and roll back character data to ensure that no one’s hard-earned currencies were lost. To give you some details from behind the scenes, we posted a detailed recap of why this issue reemerged and how we’re working to prevent it from rearing its ugly head again. Player Support has more info below on Hotfix 2.7.1.2 going live this morning and how it put this bug to bed for good.
In other news, Crimson Days is back and Guardians are partnering up to show their love. The Tower decorations are up and Lord Shaxx is inviting partners to enter his special Crimson Doubles playlist in the Crucible. For the full details, check out our ... Read more
This Week at Bungie, we had to fix the timeline.
Earlier this week, when we deployed 2.7.1, we discovered an issue causing players to lose various currencies. Our team immediately took action and brought the game down for maintenance while we worked to discover the source of the issue. We did this to minimize any further impact to players. We ended up doing the first-ever character rollback in Destiny’s history to ensure that no one lost any of their hard-earned materials. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by the unexpected maintenance and appreciated everyone’s patience while we worked to get the game back online.
We’ll continue to improve our efforts to minimize issues and downtime. Even though some bugs are always going to crawl through the cracks, we’ll be waiting on the other side with a swatter.

Next week, the Empyrean Foundation rebuild effort begins. Saint-14 will ask all Guardians to contribute to building a beacon that will b... Read more

This week at Bungie, Osiris requests your assistance.
I’m currently writing this TWAB from the warmth of my home office. There’s been an abundance of snow in the greater Seattle area, so many of us with long commutes have been keeping up the pace through the miracle of the internet and conference calls. The show must go on.
There’s a mysterious new quest being offered by the wily Warlock who’s always messing about with time itself. The community’s already on the case and working together to explore the Corridors of Time. We don’t want to spoil anything, but do want to let everyone know that this one’s a marathon, not a sprint. We’ll keep an eye on things and so far we’re impressed with your progress!

This week at Bungie, we’re closing out 2019
It’s been quite a year. While we continued to build Destiny 2, we began the journey to publish it as well. Since then, we’ve invited Guardians to master the Menagerie in Season of Opulence. We returned to the Moon to reunite with a familiar friend and confront new Nightmares. We repelled a Vex invasion and set off a chain of events that are currently being discovered by Guardians in Season of Dawn. With the passing of each Season, Destiny 2 has evolved.
On top of all that, we welcomed new Guardians to Destiny 2 and unified the community across all platforms with Cross Save. None of this would have been possible without you—thanks for sticking with us throughout the years. It’s hard to believe we find ourselves in the fifth year of Destiny. We’re celebrating the end of this amazing year with The Dawning, which kicked off this week.
