I'd argue they are doing it because the average system requirements of your everyday user is going up with the years so it makes sense to give yourself more to work with.

Yes, this is largely correct.

i'm a little bit sad because i can no longer said league run on a toaster

We are very proud of the "League runs on a toaster" memes, and even though we will be updating our minspec sometimes, we have a very deliberate goal to make sure that League continues to run on old hardware. Our "new" minspec CPU is over 10 years old.

it's great to be proud of that, but, shouldn't the team be focused on delivering quality without having to constrain themselves to technology that iant relevant, at all? like, at this point, I feel like this desire for anyone with a computer from the early 2000s shouldn't be a focus for the game anymore. its holding back what can be done to progress.

just look at FF14, and their Playstation versions. They made the choice to stop catering to PS3, and become PS4 only (at the time there was no PS5), and EVERYONE saw a world of improvement.

Yes, we don't want to constrain ourselves to technology that isn't "relevant", that's why we will periodically update our minspec.

However, keep in mind that we have players all over the world, not just in NA and EU (where most redditors are). In most areas of the world, more players are using older hardware than they are in NA or EU, and we look at our global player base to determine what is "relevant" to our players.

It's the legendary riot cobblestone who bailed my ass out in my one of my plat demotion games.

You're a beast. I owe you.

I banned skarner the next queue though, I hope it wasn't you who dodged?

Haha, I never requeue immediately or requeue when someone dodges precisely because that's the only time Skarner ever gets banned. I always wait a minute or two to make sure I get different players :-P

what's your op.gg? like really, what's your rank?

Rumble is resourceless which allows him to get fed very easily effectively shitting on both top and mid laners. On top of that his ult is hard zoning and dealing far more damage than Anivia. He doesn't need to land any other ability when he lands his ult, the ult can 100-0 you solely, this is how much dmg it has.

The way you wrote this comment clearly indicates that you haven't played against Rumble any recently (outside of aram) because he's picked only by high elo players desperate for LP.

Did you...did you even read anything I wrote other than “Rumble ult” and “Anivia ult”?

I was actually having a discussion today with someone about how I think Rumble's ult isn't very good. It just isn't visually clear what it actually does or why it does that.

When Anivia ults, you see a big swirling ice storm and you think "yeah, that's probably going to make me go slow and also hurt me as long as I'm in it.

When Rumble ults, you see a line of rockets land, and then leave behind some fire, and then disappear. I would expect that to do a bunch of up front damage, and then maybe a bit of burning damage over time, or maybe I would expect the rockets to explode at the end and do more damage if I'm on it when they explode.

But that's not how it works. Why does it only do damage over time? Why does it make me go slow at all? Visually, it just doesn't line up very well with what the effect is.

I think the "fixed location" analysis doesn't take into account that the vision location is one of the most valuable in the game. River vision helps prevent ganks and gives you a significant advantage in baron/dragon control.

You and the other 4 skarner players can rejoice!

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

Let's not gloss over the single most exciting addition to League of Legends since April of 2015:

4% BTW

NOT EVEN CLOSE BABY!!!

Wasn’t that just 4% of scenarios? Which assumes that each game is a coin flip? Any sensible calculation that took team strength into consideration would have given them a much lower chance. What an amazing run.
