Yep. finished it for the first time right now and I was like "what? NOTHING?"

I see that you get the rewards in the end-screen, but not knowing what it was made it incredibly underwhelming as the end to an otherwise really cool Dungeon

Yep, this is on our list - I think we can do a bunch of stuff to make this a lot more celebratory. Thanks for the feedback! 😊

You don't lose it. But, very in very irritating fashion, you can't see it until you complete another mission/freeplay activity.

That's currently a bug, what should be happening is that it all resolves if you crash out. You'll get a mail on the newsfeed screen telling you about it. 🙁

... and now someone is sick all over the inside of their helmet. 😊

First thing I thought of LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dploYgpWO-A

You got my reference 😊. (One of my favourite movies!)

/u/BrenonHolmes -- does this mean personalization of weapons, like reskinning or vinyls, is ruled out forever? Or is this something that might be added after launch?

It is definitely not ruled out, we have some ideas for some stuff we might be able to do going forward - I'd be curious to know what you guys think though 😊.

I get that the first one was called the Javelin of Dawn but why? Is it like a "Vanguard of Humanity" type thing? Or is it a reference to the Javelin Missile? Or is it something else entirely?

Tip of the spear... edge of the knife... 😊

I mean, that's what I figured. But that's the least desired method to be honest. It's 2019. LOL

Statistically (if things work according to our models), the average populations for Freeplay servers should be just under 3 - so on average there should be room for your friend to hop in... that said, things get more complicated if you have more folks you want to play Freeplay with.

Anyways, big picture - if it sucks, we'll figure out ways to make it better 😊.

Thanks Brenon. What about joining friends who are already in freeplay, and not in an organized party of 4 (in the world with 3 randoms)? Do they have to back out of their activity so that they can be joined?

I believe what happens is if you try to squad up with a friend who's in a full server, you'll get a message saying "server is full" or something like that.

They'd have to leave, or join you instead and then you could go do whatever. Hope that helps! 😊

Sea of thieves went thru the same exact situation. All parties were open on launch and if someone gets disconnected midway thru playing, then a random would be able to take their spot almost right away, which in turn the party would have to back out completely and be remade. It took a couple months before invite only parties were a thing. Now the good news is that one of the devs mentioned in a video is that you do have that window of opportunity to join back in and maintain the loot you got throughout the dungeon, but wasn't direct on any sort of timeframe and also wasn't direct if that spot would be held for that specific person who got disconnected in the first place. Everything that I mentioned before is moot if invite only sessions are a thing, but I have yet to see any evidence.

There's a reservation system that holds your spot if you crash out. It holds it for a few minutes or so before it opens up for someone else (assuming it's public). 😊

I beat you to it by 2 minutes! :)

glad to see I was right.

Debug is obvious... by why 3 different fre builds. Different telemetry flags?

Ha, I was too slow! 😊

Yeah basically... Release is where most devs do their work. Final is the closest we can get to retail performance and still have some ability to debug or log things.

That's the build configuration of the binary - if you're a programmer it'd probably make a bit more sense 😊.

At a super high level you can think of how optimized the binary is by the compiler and how many debug features are enabled.

We have four build configurations we use for Anthem (Debug, Release, Final and Retail).

Do they work for free play sessions as well?

It should work for any expedition, including Freeplay. 😊

I don't believe anyone from BioWare has explained them, but it's safe to assume they'll be like consumables in Mass Effect MP: one-time consumables which give you a boost for the mission, like +20% shields or -15% shield recharge delay.

In Mass Effect one of the slots was for ammo, which meant that you could equip special ammo which applied fire, frost, or some other status for detonation. But unless I missed a comment/explanation from BioWare, we can only guess what specific items will be available.

Basically this. You can craft them using mats, and then use them for various buffs that will last for the whole mission 😊.

In less then 1 week we get access to the VIP demo, and after that everyone gets access to it on the 1st. We'll get a taste but then have to wait a couple more weeks for the actual release. What I was wondering is since we will have a good portion of the game downloaded before then, could we still have access to our Javelins in order to play around with the cosmetic aspect? probably a lot to ask but it would still be fun to play around with that feature while we wait for release.

Sadly I don't think we can do this, it's a bit complicated... but basically if you want to play any part of the game, we need various servers active.

With the time left and everything else going on this is pretty unlikely... Especially on such a short timeline - sorry! 😊

Can't speak definitively until the game is out but I do imagine getting to max power level won't take long given that it is, supposedly, based on gear rarity.

But like The Division, the gear score is only a broad metric to show or suggest what quality of gear a person has. Until recently in The Division min/maxing your build didn't change your gear score. The current end game that I can see from Anthem right now is replaying activities to get good loot, advancing to the next tier of Grandmaster difficulty for better odds at the rarest gear, and getting loads of duplicates until you RNG one with all the transcriptions you need for a certain build.

Basically something kind of like this... yes. Though it will take a while to get all Masterwork items. 😊

Using Monster Hunter World as an example, it depends. In there, certain monsters are not only less weak to certain status effects but could also be immune to certain things and enemies in Anthem can potentially be the same.

For example, it's possible that no matter how much freeze you inflict on a Titan, you will never freeze them. Or maybe there's some Acid monster that is immune to the debuff.

I can't remember if anything has complete immunity to an element (I don't think so?) - but some enemies are definitely resistant to some elements.

I was running a Freezing build with my Storm and ran into a pack of Frost Wolven and Dominion Brutes with Ice empowered attacks... it was rather challenging. 😊

Well, in free roam you aren't technically in a team with the randoms, so presumably the only way to get shared medal experience in free roam is by manually grouping up. Could be that they meant, and/or in the context of the crit path where you can play completely solo, but teaming up (either with friends or through matchmaking) might be more rewarding.

Personally, I certainly hope there's no distinction. I vastly prefer in-game matchmaking over third-party systems, so I would hate to be disadvantaged - even if it's just slightly - because I'd rather use the actual in-game system over something else.

When you're in a group with others (you're automatically grouped with matchmade players in Strongholds and Missions), you share the XP gained from your Feats.

The only time you don't share XP is if you're by yourself in Freeplay (not in a pre-made Squad). The easiest way to look at it is... if you see them on the Victory Screen after the expedition is over, you're sharing XP with them. 😊

Edit: Also, just a note... the word "sharing" might be a bit confusing. You don't split XP as a group... you just get more. 😊

Will Anthem employ any form of Anti-cheat? I know it's PVE only but it's just so annoying when you do things legit and then someone just "cheat engines" their way through the game while bragging how OP they are in multiplayer for what reason, I have no idea.

I've seen this multiple times in The Division and Monster Hunter World. At least Massive made efforts to stop cheating and included an in-game reporting system while Capcom doesn't really care. I can't seem to find any threads about this. Has this been discussed at all?

There is a healthy measure of security. It's important that things are fair - if you see someone with something awesome, you need to know that they got it legitimately. 😊

Yeah that's the thing I found funny with Datto's video. Guy literally never hovered. He also stated why, literally forgetting/falling back on the Destiny habits. Apparently later footage he has involves a lot more hovering.

On the plus side, all these guys not hovering has lead me to realize all the frames have a double jump for extended height if you don't want to fly to get up somewhere shorter. Everytime BioWare has shown off something they'll literally fly up something if it's like 10 feet or taller. :P

...almost like their trying to drive home the point their game has free flying everywhere. Hmmm...

We've also been playing for a long time... after a while, it sort of becomes second nature. 😊
