Thanks for the heads-up. We've got a fix for this in the upcoming 1.02 patch.

Is there a definitive list for what specs are required for the setting to be available? I have a 2600X and I'm not seeing the option in the graphics quality settings.

It currently requires 8 logical cores and a Nvidia or AMD GPU with 6 GB of VRAM. These requirements may change in the future.

Hope they help! The Multithreaded rendering is going to be very dependent on spec + where you measure FPS.

Multithreaded rendering's biggest improvements will be in the Range and when running around maps. Other factors become the limiter in heavy combat, and we're still optimizing more.

It definitely has somewhat impacted it, I was getting 290-350 FPS yesterday and now I’m barely hitting 250.

And I’m not sure if you have any say in map rotations, but I have played ascent 8 times in a row now, and I’m starting to get sick of the map. I know y’all want us to play it and get used to it, but after 3 in a row, could you potentially make it so we won’t get that map again?

Edit: just for more info

My specs are

Vega 56

I5 8600k (5.0ghz)

16gb 3200 ram

2tb ssd (it’s not the fastest ssd, but it’s samsung q or something like that)

I’m gonna restart my pc rn and I’ll update this again if it fixes

Edit: so the issue might be vanguard actually. I’m seeing it taking up around 30% cpu in task manager and dropping valorant down to 65%.

I still have lower fps after the restart

Thanks for the details (and I saw the edits).

HeyItzShane

One question, What were the updates changing?, I dont see any mini patch notes so is it just bug fixes?

It had a couple of targeted bug fixes. We don't think those changes should have impacted performance, but we're looking into it.

If you see the launcher validating files after a crash it means the game detected corrupted files when trying to load game content. It should self-repair but if you see it more than once there may be an issue with your RAM or disk.

What hardware are you running on?

As one of the QA folks on the maps team this post made me panic so much when I clicked on the title 0_o

Edit top post for visibility instead of replying in thread: We do want to have appropriate translations. So while this is definitely not unplayable per se, we want it to be everything ya'll deserve, so our loc team and maps team are talking about how we can do stuff like this better, and we'll take this lesson moving forward :) So thanks for bringing it to our attention!

I have twice had my heart stop while scrolling through post titles. Hopefully it doesn't get me again in a few hours.

I figured it out, I deleted virtual bus driver and razer synapse and it runs at 240 now

Thanks for looping back. We'll look into this.

Mate, I don't wanna be that annoying guy but this is the same thing most of the devs have been saying for the past 3-4 weeks or so. I appreciate that you're saying performance work will land in the launch patch but I saw a dev say this before for a previous patch and it literally did nothing.

I ain't a game designer so I have no idea how it works but is there a reason why prior to patch 0.49 the major FPS drops were not noticeable?

There's a bunch of different factors impacting performance. It's useful to think about bottlenecks: what is currently the slowest part of the game? Removing that bottleneck improves framerate until you hit the next slowest piece. Then you optimize that piece, then the next, and so forth. The slowest piece is different depending on scenario (ex. shooting a gun, running around the world, lots of abilities firing) and depending on hardware (i.e. how fast is your CPU vs. GPU). The pieces also change as we add and update content and behaviors.

Sadly there's not currently just one chunky piece that we can fix to unlock dramatic improvements. We're working on a bunch of different pieces that each unlock fractions of a millisecond every frame. Combined these optimizations add up to more FPS.

On older machines VALORANT's performance tends to be constrained by GPU. The game's overall performance on these machines scales directly with the quantity and complexity of what it has to render. We ca...

We have a bunch of developers grinding on performance. Some performance work will land in the launch patch. Additional performance work will land in future patches. We will continue to patch the game regularly; launch is just the beginning.

Hey do you know if we will get a fix for me being bad at the game?

I repro that issue. The team is trying hard to fix for me. I'll let you know if we make any progress.

Thanks for the report. We have a fix for this internally. It'll be resolved in an upcoming build.

Material Qual: High

Texture Qual: High

Detail Qual: Medium

UI Qual: Medium

I'm willing to sacrifice the quality for performance, but only if its absolutely necessary. Those settings were all on high before the first few patches and the lag wasn't as intense. Thank you so much for reaching out and responding, this Riot team really cares.

Could you also share the ones further down? I don't think tweaking the quality settings will make much of a difference on a 1080.

I think the full list is:

  • Material Quality
  • Texture Quality
  • Detail Quality
  • UI Quality
  • Vignette
  • VSync
  • Anti-Aliasing
  • Anisotropic Filtering
  • Improve Clarity
  • Bloom
  • Distortion
  • First Person Shadows
TheMrMintt

Vignette: Off

Vsync: Off

Anti-Aliasing: MSAA 4x

Anisotropic Filtering: 8x

Improve Clarity: Off

Bloom: Off

Distortion: Off

First Person Shadows: Off

Thanks! The only thing I would test on your machine would be flipping MSAA 4x to Off to see if it has any impact. We're tracking a rare issue with it that impacts some (but not all) machines -- should be fixed in a future build.

Hate to be that guy but any confirmation about Viper's snake bite? The description says it should slow enemies but it doesn't. Is this an issue with the ability or does the description need to be updated?

Ability is working as intended. Description will be updated in a future build.

Could you share your Graphics Quality settings?

pedros430

I3-2130m Intel HD 3000 I can run cs go just fine in 480 p at 50 fps and everything on screen is still distinguish able, but at 720p it's completely unplayable at 20 fps, I think the resolution change would make a difference in valorant too

Recent versions of Unreal (which VALORANT is built on top of) no longer support Shader Model 4 GPUs. As a result we've had to move the minimum spec from the Intel HD 3000 to the Intel HD 4000.

Our ongoing perf work should help in the near term, but the game will likely stop working on that machine in the near future.
