I hope you are joining in as well

I'm splitting my time between some games/RP gifting and helping out with fixing bugs players have been requesting today :)

pikachu11111

But I am on Turkish serversss :'( I wonder if turkish rioters gonna do stuff like this too

They will be!

EU Rioters will be doing the same thing on EUW and EUN.

SnorlaxTheFlash

Is this just for today, or the whole week?

I'm busy all day today. ;-;

Just today sorry, we gotta get back to work tomorrow too.

RSI_MK

Was this in norms? Draft or blinds?

All queues, just depends on where someone feels like queueing up. I can see Normals, Ranked, ARAM and TFT at nearby desks right now for example.

amberofember

as in they don't do that the rest of the year?

Normally we prioritize bugs based off assessed impact, frequency and ability to reproduce them. Today we're just going off what players request that we're able to fix over the course of the day.

He literally explained why he included that part. If you are a player with very few champions but have reached gold, it only makes sense you'd be concerned about getting a skin for a champ you don't own.

Victorious skin has been for a champion important to the meta every single year.

Morgana, Orianna, Maokai, Graves etc are or were very popular champs when they received them. Maokai was pick/ban status in top lane when he got his.

Regardless of how popular the champ getting a victorious skin is or isn't each year there are a lot of new players, or players with secondary accounts, wondering if they need to go buy the champ beforehand to be eligible for the skin. It's well known you don't to veteran players, but they're not the only part of the LoL audience.

Garen: Is also looking too strong and a candidate for nerfs next patch. As expected with Garen he’s less out of line in high MMR, though still on the strong side even there. Not sure yet how good attack speed as a build path is for him post E changes. Our goal was that it should be an option, rather than mandatory or always a mistake. Another goal was to shift power to his early game, the belief being that that's both part of Garen's historic identity we wanted to bring back and generally an appropriate pattern for juggernauts. Does look like that's working so far. In terms of overall power as with Shaco we'd like to ensure that he doesn't end up weaker than before the changes at a minimum.

Meanwhile all Garens on my team builds full crit/as and feed their ass 0/8 in lane, happened 3 times yesterday and now im banning him not because he is overpowered but because what a shit champion to have on your team Jesus..

Yep, and he's overperforming on average despite some people doing that and dragging his stats down a bit.

BloodTrinity

Is the full crit path really dragging down his stats? I was seeing triforce -> PD -> IE as one of his highest winrate builds.

Haven't looked at item performance data yet. I was referring more to people failing but his win rate still being high overall, rather than the particular build path. In retrospect could have phrased that slightly better.

Plan is for a devblog from one of the SR team on preseason goals for tomorrow.

Just to keep expectations in check - tomorrow we'll be talking goals, not the actual changes themselves. Those should be next week.

Kayma

Would you say that runes reforged wasn't as successful as you would have hoped?

At this point I feel it was hit and miss. I do think it was an overall improvement certainly, but not to the extent we'd been expecting. We've addressed a number of things over time, with some individual runes and the initial lack of stat choice, leaping out in particular. Still a fair number of issues though we need to continue to work on.

Ryuumoku

Okay so there nothing.

When will the garen Changes Go Live? I just want to play garen top again and not lose all matchups

same... but with Wukong.

don't get to spend much time each week directly with the balance or champion team devs any more for example, so I don't have the context on a lot of the specific decisions.

Okay so... can we have a name on the one working or someone who care about us (Wukong mains) ???

A designer on the champion team's taken over on the Wukong changes. He's currently doing some bug fixing, polish, balance etc while waiting on artists to free up from preseason work. I'd imagine he'll likely start posting about it and engaging with players once it's close to ship.

fridge.gif but for quick gameplay thoughts

Yeah, I was on the fence as to whether to do a short post this week or just cancel. Looking at response maybe cancel would have been the better call.

Bro_miscuous

Absolute fridge. "This is happening next month". Jesus medler. Can you at least answer some more questions from players other than when is Garen's mini rework coming?

Few more comments there, had to run to something straight after putting that post up. Still light on substantial content overall though.

ghostgnome

Ever since Meddler got promoted to Ghostcrawler's position, these posts have become increasingly information-free.

I think that's fair call out. I've found it harder to talk about gameplay specifics now I'm not as close to that work day to day. That's both what these posts originally focused on though and what people most seem to want to ask.

MemoryStay

How would tanks be viable when conquerer exists?

This one at least I can respond to with a bit more substance. We'll be making some changes to Conqueror in preseason, shifting it closer to a Fervor of Battle like effect. Shouldn't be as punishing against tanky champs as a result overall.

RandomActsOfToast

It's because Ghostcrawler wasn't married. Meddler has been married for quite awhile and doesn't have time/care to indulge the playerbase with his thoughts.

Not a lack of caring, though I can understand if it feels that way and my apologies. Time has been harder recently I admit.

SyriseUnseen

Unrelated, but:

A. Thanks for answering on reddit too

B. Thoughts on leblanc? I dont want her to get nerfed, but since shes more or less in the same state as she was when you guys nerfed her, will she receive changes?

Welcome!

No plans for LB at the moment at least.

KataFuFuu

I'm scared tbh. don't want the same problems we had during TFT launch to happen again. I could do without clash if this will be the case.

Our approach here's to segment the modes server side basically so overload on one shouldn't bring down the others.

ZanesTheArgent

I still resent, although "understand" the team backpedalling on the Teemo changes from before.

Those are some OK changes but still feel weak to what a major revamp both of Teemo and his items could've been better, forcing Teemo into a healthier path instead of just making him stronger.

But here we are, still catering to the nukeshroom crowd.

We had a lot of interest in that larger Teemo stuff too. Conclusion was downsides of changes would be really high though, given Teemo has a wide variety of playstyles and a very diverse playerbase, from those who like him because he's cute and easy to play, to those looking to lane counter others, to those looking to one trick a distinct split push playstyle etc. We felt we'd be able to serve some of his audience well with changes but would likely alienate a lot of others. Looking at past champion changes that have taken that approach (Karma coming to mind especially) we didn't feel the upside here justified the downside.
