Hi

If you live in an EU Member Country and the illegal content is on our platforms, you can let us know about it here.

If you don't live in an EU Member Country you can email [email protected].

Regardless of where you live, if the evidence is on another platform that we don't control, we politely ask that you report your concerns directly to that platform, who have access to the back-end records and evidence needed.

If you are worried that a player may seriously harm themselves or others, please contact your local Police emergency service. Police / Law Enforcement officers can contact Jagex by email at [email protected] if they need our help to keep someone safe.

Thanks.

I have a follow-up question. The individual lives in the UK, while I reside outside the UK. There is a serious concern that this person, who has a history of suicidal behavior, may seriously harm themselves. I'm unsure whether I should contact local authorities where I am currently located, who could then coordinate with authorities in the UK. Should we directly reach out to authorities in the UK, since the person resides there? I'm uncertain about the best way to proceed, and perhaps my local authorities can provide guidance on this matter.

Usually we’d advise to contact your local Police for advice - that saves on language barriers etc. They will also know how best to approach the platform provider to release personal data if you don’t know the persons address.

If your concerns stem from chat in our games Police can request information release from us by email at [email protected]. There are some data privacy laws that relate to requests from Police with no jurisdiction in the UK but we can advise officers if they contact us.

If the safety concerns stem from conversations outside of our games (for example Discord) Police will need to contact those platforms with their request.

That said, if you know the address in the UK and you think it is an emergency situation .. then contacting Police directly in the UK would likely be the fastest way to get help.

Offences are unique to the character, so you could have 3 characters on a Jagex Account, one muted, one banned and the other with no offences.

In some super rare cases that won't concern most people, we do block access to all characters under a Jagex Account, examples being where the player is under 13 years old or we have very serious and credible reasons to believe that the player may present a risk to other people IRL.

These outliers aside, action is taken at character not account level though.

Hey - you can delete an account but not a character. Some of your personal data is at the Jagex Account level (for example your login email). If you want to delete your personal data, that would include your login email, so deleting it would mean you can't access the Jagex Account at all.

We can't delete the login email for (say) character 1 and 2 but still allow it to be used for character 3, because that would mean we haven't actually deleted the email record, as we'd still need to store it as a login credential for character 3.

Hope that makes sense. Just wanted to make that clear so you don't submit a request to delete thinking it will remove a character!

I'm afraid that isn't possible - as you can have up to 20 characters on a Jagex Account, it should be quite a rare situation that somebody would need more than one Jagex Account (ie have more than 20 characters). I appreciate that doesn't help your situation but wanted to share the reasoning.

  1. Yes
  2. No

See others comments :)

Edit for clarity - 'yes' you can log out and somebody else play from the same device and 'yes' you can play away from home. Most people are using Jagex Accounts with no issues at all, there are some elements of confusion around (such as not realising logins change to the new Jagex Account login) but generally speaking 'no' there are not a lot of problems

Good to go, grab those shards

As people have said, you are good to set up your Jagex Account. There were some issues for a very short period last week because so many emails were being sent to new Jagex Account holders and some providers, such as Yahoo, delayed or did not deliver those emails (presumably thinking the sudden increase was some sort of spam attack). That was quickly resolved - no issues now :)

Better than before. Basically, once you have your accounts linked, all you do is press “Play” on whichever account you want. If you want to play a different account, you simply select the username from the drop-down menu and press “Play”.

^ This - glad to hear you are having a positive experience :)

If you are getting email notifications it means somebody is trying to access your account - consider updating your password or changing your Jagex Account email address

It doesn't really matter what order you do them in, you'll have a new login email for your Jagex Account - you just need to decide whether to use an existing email you have a create a new one

Sounds like you might still be using your old login derails, your Jagex Account login is the email address you used to set it up

Thank you for replying. I suppose I also don't want to let go of logging in with my RSN, I'm conflicted stubbornly set in my ways haha. I need to read more about the migration I think.

FWIW I felt the same but no regrets now :)

Yes, you'll just sign into the character linked to your Steam account. Jagex Accounts have pretty much no effect on playing RuneScape through Steam or Mobile.

ty great advice :)

We've updated our PSA with some general advice about this issue - apologies for the inconvenience, we are doing what we can to try and get this resolved quickly

I recently created a jagex account and added my RuneScape account to it. But when I try to sign in using the normal method I am used to (email address which isn't the same as jagex account email address) it does not work.

That's intentional, you no longer use those login details to play, instead using the newly created Jagex Account to do so.

Spot on advice - ty :)

Should be fine, (see others comments) are you having issues ?

Allowing people to log in with an account name would be nice. Some of us have been playing for two decades and have grown attached to our account info. It also gives some measure of security, since there are two possible logins instead of one.

I lost my personal game account username login as well when I got my Jagex Account, but for me the other benefits (email notifications and ability to change login) in particular, outweighed that aspect. I also just have a main (ignoring back in the day failed pures) but I can see how 20 characters would be super useful for a lot of people as well. I also know a few people who are quite glad to see the back of the username logins they chose years ago that they are less than proud of today!

It still seems to be an issue.

Thanks - it is still under investigation as it does seem the problem persists for delivery to some 'small' email providers and Yahoo ..

Lost your back up codes? don't worry - we got your back
