We doing International or USA Covid reliefs? Maybe a 30-70 split in respective of International to USA just to insure we have a wide portfolio with our funds also picking Large cap over Small cap might prove as a safer option. While we are at it, maybe some Inflation protection in there as well. Not a financial advisor but I do have a phd in Google.

Hey everyone! Kushnood here from the Riot Social Impact team (which we affectionately call "Karma"). We just crested over 100K in donations in the mid-season streamathon (holy guacamole!) and wanted to give some extra information into where the community support will be headed. It can be a bit confusing since we're taking a different type of approach and want to be as transparent as possible!

All money raised is technically going to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund at ImpactAssets. It's a US-based nonprofit that can allow us to distribute grant money internationally. We've got a few questions as to which specific nonprofit we'll be supporting and the answer is ... hundreds all over the world.

Instead of choosing just one, we selected two professionally managed "funds" at GlobalGiving and ImpactAssets. Click the links and you can see the underlying projects that are going to support COVID relief. Note, we won't be donating to ALL of these, but working with them to identify the mo...

There's a couple of factors at play when we try and select nonprofits for these types of campaigns. We first try to use what players tell us is most meaningful and important to them based on their region through surveys and research - we want to make sure that we're picking issues that are important to you all, not just us.

Then there's a whole ton of fun regarding legal, financial, impact and governance evaluation to finalize the selections.

While we look at overhead ratios of nonprofits, we find it doesn't tell the whole story of where an org is, what they're doing, and the impact they're making. Our usual standard is to review 2 - 3 years of financial statements, as well as other factors to determine both the capacity and potential impact of a nonprofit.

We made a minimum "floor" of $40,000 for regions. Meaning, the most voted org, will get $20K and the other two will still get $10K each

Why do I have the UK votes when im from germany? My client is english but still, shouldnt it be based on IP ?

Unfortunately, we had a lot of technical limitations with geo-targeting for the voting hub. The voting selections will come up as the native language. I'm sorry, it's not ideal

You'll always find something to complain about. Its based on skin sales, the larger regions will undoubtedly donate much more than $10k.

You're correct - the actual charity pools are based on a proportional basis. We wanted to just make sure that all non-profits are getting a baseline of support

Riot already stated considering they would have to decide which tragedy to support they prefer to make a yearly or monthly (I don't remember) donation than having to decide each time. This happened early in the Amazonia fire's.

We've already reached out to International Medical Corps to see how we can support, or if not IMC directly, another great partner to work with in the region. If you're wanting to make a direct impact, there's a lot of good organizations out there you can support (just do a bit of research to make sure they're legit!).

That said, wanted to provide some extra background into our approach to social impact and charity fundraising as it's a bit different than others... For disaster relief, many in this thread have shared that we like to "forward fund" our support for various reasons. Not to say that every bit of effort doesn't help, however putting things on sale to support X cause is much more complicated than people realize.

For example, each state in the US (along with every other country) has different regulations, filing requirements, etc, regarding the sale of an item to support charitable causes. It's nuts - for our current Dawnbringer Karma charity fundraiser, we had to begin wor...

All proceeds raised will go to the Social Impact Fund and then distributed to international nonprofits. It takes a bit of math, but we calculate the total # sold and then use that for our donation amount!

As part of our L10 celebration, all Rioters took the day to do something to give back to players. One of those events was a "thank you card room" and Rioters could pop-in and make a thank you note to honor level 5 players.

Don't be sad if you didn't get one though! There were over 5 million summoners' names we pulled. We were busy all day and got through like, 400?
