It reminds me of Torchlight and now I'm desperate for an ARPG set in Gielinor!
Theres too many good ones, someone pick for me
Genuinely how I feel too. Even the honourable mentions would each run away with the competition at any other time!
Read every single book in-game and unlock flying book pet?
Hey all. Since this thread appeared I've been able to get some answers about the situation. I don't want this to be construed as any sort of smackdown. I genuinely believe there's some sort of misunderstanding, and I've asked that we get in touch with Rodolfo.
I don't think I need to delve too deep into the nitty gritty, but the key things to note are:
In-terms of in-game music, we discovered back in 2018 that we could use MIDI files from a RS3 back-up (the same 2012 one we've used for Soul Wars) in Old School. We took the tracks Vanescula, Bloodbath, Conspiracy, and Bait for the release of A Taste of Hope. Some minor modifications were needed since those tracks use instruments which don't exist in Old School, but the modifications were done by a member of the Old School team. That work was a success, and we did the same for Fight of the Basilisk, Jaws of the Basilisk, and Lair of the Basilisk. Incidentally we've also done similar things with the tracks Elven Seed, Roots, and Fl...
Read moreHey all. I want to thank you, seriously. There's been more than 10,000 of you to respond to this so far.
I want to address the feedback you're giving to. Firstly, a bit of context into why this survey is a thing and how it came about. We (as an Old School team and product) want to know more about what you think about the game, what you want, (more importantly) what you don't want, how you'd prefer to hear news, and then a few topical things like polling and graphical changes. We then worked with the Research and Strategy team to build the survey.
There's a lot of feedback about the various pieces of contact information we're asking for. In hindsight, I think we should be explaining why we're asking for it. We ask for a phone number so we can talk to you directly (it'll definitely be somebody from Jagex), and it won't ever be passed onto anybody else. Some people clearly aren't comfortable providing that, so I don't see why we shouldn't be asking for a Discord contact instead. I ...
Read moreThank you for your detailed and involved post. First thing in the week too. Mondays must suck for PR.
I think PR probably enjoy their Mondays. Me in Community Management however...
Jokes aside, there's no right time for this, and we won't ever moan about having to deal with it. Problems are there to be solved. We want to give you the best possible experience, and that goes beyond just game content.
the incident being referenced in this thread was not reported in-game
Hold on, do people really not report shit? Why do they think the report button is there if not to, like, report things? No wonder people get away with shit if nobody is reporting it!
I wouldn't be so quick to blame the players. I think it's like u/Glum_Reaper said...
I think I can speak for most when I say we've given up thinking it [the report abuse button] helps. Jagex should do address our lack of faith in the game's built-in report system. If we think it works, we'd use it.
Thank you Sween.
I hope to see Jagex's official response be made public, and that people who act like this are made an example of for the rest of the game. This nonsense needs to stop, and I appreciate your response.

I don't envisage us sharing the results of this specific incident (we don't tell you about specific accounts we ban or mute or disqualify etc), but I'm very hopeful this will help instigate a change in approach to how we look at toxicity in the game.

I think sometimes there needs to be an honest understanding of the time it takes to flag, react, and respond. Office hours are a thing, and we then need to align on a stance and a response.
That's not saying we don't have out of hours monitoring, but that's largely for massively escalation-worthy things like serious game bugs, issues affecting the game worlds. I'm not trying to downplay what's appearing in this thread (and others), but it doesn't fall into that criteria.
Thanks, Mod Sween. I'm interested to see what results from this.

It's massively important that players use the in-game report feature
This is honestly news to me. I thought in RL the report button is changed a timer for a reason: because the timer is actually useful.
I think I can speak for most when I say we've given up thinking it helps. Jagex should do address our lack of faith in the game's built-in report system. If we think it works, we'd use it.
Hey, that's a perfectly valid bit of feedback there. And addressing your lack of faith in the report system was something that we discussed a lot today.
This is unacceptable behaviour, and it's not welcome in our game. We're investigating and we'll take action.
It's massively important that players report these things in-game so we're made aware of what's happening, and then we can investigate and take action accordingly. We can't emphasise how strongly we need you to report these things in-game.
For some additional context, the incident being referenced in this thread was not reported in-game and wouldn't have come to light unless images or video footage emerged like they did here.
I'd like to clarify a few other things raised in this thread. Not in terms of this specific incident, but just generally on the subject of toxicity, reports, and investigation:
"Every player in that video should be suspended."
We aren't going to take action against accounts before an investigation concludes. Images or video can be doctored. I'm not saying it has in this situation, but it's why we can't take these things simply at face value.
"Your ...
Read moreIm so skeptical about even entering info, first 2 pages: "enter an email, enter your main IGN." Like this is a phishing link gone wrong..
We'll pass on feedback about how it appears. Entering the email is entirely optional, and does not need to be related to your account whatsoever.
As for your ign, we want only the character name, not your login information.
Qualtrics makes some browser add-ons related to privacy light up like a Christmas tree.
Seems like i cannot fill in this survey, what a shame.
Interesting, which add-ons specifically? We'll pass this on.
Evening all! Thanks for giving us so much feedback! We've made a lot of changes. They're in the blog now, and the changelist reads as follows:
- Removed the poll question regarding the Hunllef's damage done on hit rather than on cast due to numerous player concerns about changing the established meta.
- Specified that question 1 will apply to only the normal Gauntlet while the others will apply to both modes.
- Added an image regarding potential demiboss spawns to The Gauntlet.
- Added proposed animation changes for the Hunllef.
- Removed the poll question regarding tradeable granite dust to allow ourselves more time to investigate the effect it will have on Slayer XP rates and potentially revist it in the future. You can read more about that decision in the Grotesque Guardians section.
- Clarified the Twisted Ornament Kit and added an additional question on whether or not it should be tradeable.
- Clarified the stats and wording surrounding the Mythical Max Cape.
Zendesk is software used the Support team. It's got a lot of functionality, namely being able to identify and collate other tweets from an individual to aid more effective and informative action. Presumably the reply in the OP was to this tweet: https://twitter.com/ShannonDebest/status/1256403458296557573?s=19.
In this instance the person in the tweet claimed to be hijacked and banned. The link in the tweet would allow the ban to be appealed and quashed (if it was incurred by a hijacker).
To hijack this comment, why isn't there a proper way to contact Jagex support for things like this?
If you head to the Old School website and click Support you'll be taken to the Support Centre. If you type 'ban' the article they linked in the tweet will be the first thing that pops up. Clicking the Appeal button will ensure it's checked by the Support team.
