New Unlock Conditions
  • Weapon variations are now unlocked following an XP-based unlock system, instead of specific kill goals as used for the daily and weekly challenges
  • XP rewards for player kills have been halved to allow for normalized XP earnings across both PvE and PvP for the purpose of weapon variation unlock challenges (i.e. a kill against a player with equal skill is now worth 250 XP instead of 500 XP)

With this update, we have made a change to how the challenges in the Book of Weapons work, changing to an XP-based system instead of the current specific challenges. We had to use the existing system for our initial test server deployment (which makes sense for daily and weekly challenges, as well as Book of Monsters unlocks) since the new XP system was not available in time. Both the Dolch and Uppercut to us are classed as the top-tier sidearm’s that are available in the game. As such, they are often the most used as well as being two of the most powerful in the game. The Uppercut in particular often carries the punch of a “pocket rifle” that makes it the ideal companion with pretty much any other weapon. The Dolch – one of the most advanced and powerful handguns of its time – has the advantage of semi-auto fire paired with a decent range and additional punch from its more modern cartridge. Make sure to download the client update as without it you will not be able to join games. (you'll get kicked back to menu during loading screen). If this happens, close your client and restart steam to get the update.

His week spot can be found in the middle of his chest (where the fleshy part is showing), hitting that stuns him and prevents him from cloning as well.
You did get 2 hitmarkers at one point before he cloned and attacked, he probably had a tiny bit of HP left.
The clones are invincible, but they disappear after being hit. You can tell if a clone hits you, with seeing bugs on your screen!

The Assassin is the product born from a lot of investigation into what bosses mean to Hunt in its current state, since the previous two boss targets were created the game has shifted a lot to build a better core experience. With this in mind, we wanted to approach the issues that came out of the other bosses and see where we can build a benchmark that offers a few things; a challenge to new and old players, a balance between boss PvE engagement and the ever looming PvP, and something unique to set each boss apart.
