Update on Path of Exile 1
We announced last week some unfortunate news regarding the timeline for 3.26.0 for Path of Exile 1. Coming out of that we have adjusted some of our internal resources to be able to provide you with some content to fill the time until that expansion arrives.To start with we'll be running a one-month event that has some of our whacky ideas that never quite made it off the brainstorm board.What does Path of Exile 1 look like when the nineteen Ascendancy Classes you know and are familiar with are all of a sudden replaced by a different nineteen? What does Path of Exile 1 look like when you get to play a Witch and ascend to become a Harbinger? Since the release of Path of Exile 2 in Early Access, our players have been asking about the future of Path of Exile 1 and the timeline for its next expansion. The ongoing Settlers of Kalguur expansion in Path of Exile 1 was launched in July 2024. Since the release of Path of Exile 2 in Early Access, our players have been asking about the future of Path of Exile 1 and the timeline for its next expansion. We'd like to take a moment to apologise for our slower-than-usual support response times. Due to the massive increase in tickets from Early Access, we've fallen behind our usual standard. Today we want to detail what went down and how we’ve been working to improve the situation. In the lead up to the launch of Path of Exile 2’s Early Access we began to ramp up our Customer Support team. It quickly became evident that our efforts were not nearly enough and we have since doubled the size of the team, and we are still hiring more.The Support Team is responsible for not only the emails and private messages, but also the in-game chat and forum moderation. All of these have been approximately 10 times busier than our previous busiest time.Since the announcement on the 22nd of November the Support Team has received around 545,000 email requests and been able to reduce the remaining requests to approximately 75,000.We really appreciate everyone's patience while the Support Team has been workin... In order to support Path of Exile 1 and 2 sharing microtransactions as well as Cross Play between all supported platforms in Path of Exile 2, we have had to make some changes to our account system. Here are the changes you can expect. Discriminators
One of the annoying problems that we previously had was that creating new accounts with the name you wanted was very difficult. With so many accounts, new players often had to try 10 or more times to get a name that wasn't taken. Since we are merging all platforms accounts into a single account system, we knew that we had to deal with name conflicts anyway, so we have decided to add a "discriminator" number to the end of each account name. The next big change we are making is sub-accounts.There will be many players who have previously created an account on a console platform as well as on PC. During our visit to Tokyo Game Show Game Director Jonathan Rogers showcased several design highlights of Path of Exile 2, including classes, maps, skills and bosses to renowned Japanese action game producer Koji Igarashi, known for his work on the Castlevania series and more recently, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.Jonathan also hosted a panel discussion and played couch co-op with Shuhei Yoshida, who was formerly the President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, now their Head of Indies Initiative.
