Greetings bug hungry Capsuleers,

We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Wednesday, March 27th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time) to test improvements to shadows and other changes.

What exactly is being tested?

  • Shadows – We have made improvements to our shadow system, especially around client performance and stability, but also with small visual improvements.
  • SKINS – We are making improvements to how SKINs are handled to make the systems around them more robust.
  • Grids – We have been tinkering under the hood on how player positions are tracked on grid.
  • We are also investigating a long-standing issue resulting in, upon undocking, ships not ending up where they expected.

Because of the nature of these changes, players are encouraged to use carriers and capitals (or anything else you manage to fit fighter squadrons into), or any ship they feel comfortable flying!

We have a lead that we are currently investigating and hope to have it solved soon™ ; thanks to everyone who made reports, it was super integral to the investigation of the issue.

@Aandala_Uanid, You are correct, they are known issues ; we’ve updated the known issue thread to reflect that, apologies for the confusion.

@Beaute_Suprenate , this has also been added to the known issues and is something we are working on getting fixed , apologies for the confusion.

To paraphrase Moltke the Elder, the purpose of this round of tests is to see what happens when our ideas get in front of the players; with that spirit in mind, there are no recommendations for ships and fits beyond what you can fly and / or like to fly (although something with a sub-minute align time is always appreciated, since we will be warping around.)

The basic breakdown of the new ESS system is that in systems with the ESS present, a portion of it is sent to the bank; if no one steals it, it’s paid back to you. However, if the jackpot gets juicy enough, people will try to take it and there will be many a gud fite for the loot.

There’s also a smaller reserve bank that doesn’t empty and just keeps building until someone tries to break into it with a key; that feature will open up a bit further down the road (to get those sweet sweet payouts built up… or something far more sinister? dun dun Duuuuuun!)

Hope that cleared it up a bit for you; once you play around with it a little, I think (hope) you’ll find it’s pretty intuitive.

No sarcasm at all; EVE players are amazing at finding holes and exploiting systems, it was one of the things that drew me to the game and the work.

This may be related to the changes we made to fuel consumption use by the Tactical Recloner; it now consumes fuel blocks based on which Super Carrier it is mounted to. I’ll take another quick look to make sure we didn’t accident anything up, but let me know if it looks like that may be your issue.
