if you relog half way through a lap you wont be able to set a lap time.

Not sure what's happened with your final lap experience. If you have completed 1 lap (according to the dude guy) you should have at least had one working lap.

Is there a chance you may have missed an obstacle on the way around? or back-tracked on yourself tomuch and reset your direction? (if you travel 2 obstacles in the opposite direction to the way you were travelling, the system will assume you've turned around and reset you.)

I did use the course to explore the island, before actually trying to complete laps. However I started my laps at the base camp and went the whole way around without missing an obstacle or backtracking a few times and no luck. I’ve read a few comments about just going the one direction until a lap finally competes then going back to home and starting fresh so I’ll try that.
