@CliftonMalecki @daze_carlos Civ is simulating the interaction of hundreds/thousands of combatants where there would realistically never be randomly different outcomes due to the law of large averages. Whereas in RW, we're talking about a space marine getting hit in the face with an arrow. It could happen.
@daze_carlos This question needs more than 1 bit to answer. It's not either/or, its probablistic. The chance of either winning is not zero.
@WWeynants @OskSta This looks a lot more high tech than what I did! Also worth noting that RW's regions were never for pathfinding; only for spatial analysis. E.g. "What's the nearest threat by path distance" type questions. What you're doing is hierarchical pathfinding.
@daze_carlos Stories happen to characters. Have characters that player cares about/relates to, and who are experiencing emotions player can empathize with.

@windowtwink The system does record huge amounts of data about things that happened for use in art descriptions. But showing this raw data as a step-by-step narrative wouldn't work; it lacks the linkages ("X caused Y caused Z") and emphasis that makes a narrative work. /2
@windowtwink I'd love to but it's basically impossible to implement the way you'd want. Computers don't understand the meaning of events, so they can't understand what you consider important enough to be an interesting event or not. /1
